I really think an overhaul of Combined Arms to add features and functionality, especially regarding infantry and naval gameplay, would be a huge boon to DCS. Imagine drawing in the ARMA and naval sim crowds for full spectrum, combined arms gameplay, imagine flying a squad of Russian infantry into battle and then helping out that squad with CAS etc. Also, imagine playing as the commander of a destroyer as part of a carrier strike group, frantically launching RIMs to defend against a coordinated attack on the carrier. A really solid Combined Arms DLC would draw together so many fringe-interest milsim gamers into one community, it would be so cool!
Igla - 2 hits from 3 missiles Stinger - 0 hits from 3 missiles.
Stinger works on a negative ir/uv tracking system. He wasn't correctly aiming it prior to launching the missile, probably confusing the seeker.

Now I'm kind of interested in getting Combined Arms. Can't wait to see any other videos and tutorials on other vehicles / systems to see what's there.

Nice, but you should superelevate the sight once you pressed the Uncage switch and got a steady lock,
you do this by putting the enemy aircraft inside one of the three U shaped notches.
The center square one for incoming and escaping targets, the left one to add lead for aircraft going from left to right.
And the right one to add lead for right to left ones.
Also, once you pressed the safety and actuator switch you only have about 45 seconds of BCU argon cooling for the seeker head.
Stinger warhead 3kg (6.6lb) same as this.Sidewinder warhead, yer right 20lb, (9.4kg).

IRL igla has a Green lamp in the rear sight post that illuminates when you have permission to fire, and a sound emitting device in the gripstock too.
The process is simple.
See target
Pull activation lever to the back
Put target Inside sight picture.
Press and hold trigger to the second detent.
Green lamp and sound Will come when the missile gets lock, shortly after It will be fired automatically.

is the plan for dcs to be available for players that are more interested in ground and naval combat eventually? I'm sure there's communities that would be interested in moving to a DCS ground war sim over world of tanks or world of warships. DCS could make being an infantry member free for anyone to increase numbers
Over 26,000 feet as a max range for the stinger is awesome. These manpads can be hidden very effectively because they're infantry launched.
ah this video was very nice, i didnt know any infantry could be controlled.
I was wondering if the CA IFF keybind has any use on these manpad troops. I believe realistically, that is the purpose of the large antenna box on the stinger.

Very nice. DCS is becoming the new "ARMA". Now you should probably get some ground soldiers in GR. Can the Stinger operator communicate with his own fighters? And/or with other own ground units? What about the guy who can lase for you - communication etc.??
Yeah range for avenger and manpads should be the same...max effective range is the range implemented by the supposed visual recognition capabilities of the soldier... Stupid... We all carried binos.. Easy to fire over 5 clicks... I suppose they dont utilize the actual tracking profile for the game due to sanity...its not solely an ir missile and will readily ignore flares... Bummer they dont implement the lock and uncage tones or the elevation/lead reticles
