    I was a commander of a platoon of tunguska for 15 years. The missiles are intended for firing at helicopters and A-10 only on a head-on course at a distance of 8-4 km.

      Олег Крючков can you say more about the Tungs place within the combined arms environment? The effectiveness against pop-up-pop-down tactics by rotary wing gunships? Is it as awesome and capable as I’ve always thought of it as? It’s effectiveness in a highly EW environment?
      I’ve always absolutely been in love with the Tung, and it’s modernizations and more modern variants. The tung always seemed like the literal perfect example of what a SPAAG should be and should look like. Excellent ergonomics, weapons variety, and an effective platform in the broader group of tactical short-range quick response SAM/SPAAG systems. The tung, with the Tor and BuK have always seen to be the king and worthy replacement and addition from the legacy SAM/SPAAG platforms that paved the way for these systems-the ZSU 23, Kub, Osa, Strella.
      The Soviets/Russians invested so very heavily into aerial denial and Shutting down and it has shown. If we can’t have the air over the tactical/theater level area if engagement then no one will and we will decide. I love Soviet/Russian SPAAG/SAM systems!

    Just thought I'd let you know. You can Middle-Mouse click, or MB3 or whatever you want to call it - to engage "tracking mode" works with all combined arms vehicles. It allows your turret to traverse by a speed depending on how far from the center your mouse cursor is. So you can basically set it to track at the same speed your target is moving.
    Can be very usefull

  • @bBrain
    @bBrain Před 5 lety +5

    If you lock on in the left-ctl F10 screen then hit f1 it will do all the moving and tracking for you and you can just take a shot when you want. MUCH easier to hit enemies that way.

    Cap, my guess would be that the real vehicles have joysticks for controling the turret, which can allow for far more smooth and precise control inputs. Also, the AI cheats, but we all knew this already. :P

    both the guns and missiles both can be lain optically, the dish on the front of the turret is the firecontrol/track radar, the dish on the back is a search radar, IRL accruacy of the missiles suffer as range data must be entered manualy for a optical track, when employed by use of the radar, laying the turret for guns or missiles is fully automatic, also leading for the missiles is not nessisary as the missiles initaly propellant charge for ejecting the missile is also used to pop the missile onto its lead vector, it is a 2 stage missile, the version in DXS uses a Laser FUSE and thus can (IRL) very rarely be set off by a chaff cloud, the missiles are also effectave vs light ground targets

    Very Broken DCS sam system, AI super deadly with almost no Smoke = very unreal. Human control unable to shoot nothing more than helicpoters or very slow aircrafts. Bad DCS, bad DCS, Will slap your face for this! Reported long time ago with NO response what so ever.

    Those guns are double barrel, so actually it is 2x2x30mm. It has the four barrels as Shilka, but uses larger caliber and more powerful guns.
    In reality the missiles are guided by the fire control system, of course. I think Tunguska has a fully automatic mode for searching, IFFing and engaging targets without any need from the crew input. There is also a manual mode against stationary or slow moving surface targets for guns and probably for the missiles also.

    • @ryanehlol4180
      @ryanehlol4180 Před 4 lety

      @@cdgncgn The Tunguska uses two 2A38 autocannons; each autocannon works on the Gast principle, meaning that a higher ROF is achieved by having two barrels leading to the same chamber (basically the Tung has two guns but four barrels, which can just about be seen at the start of the video (for each gun, the outer barrel has a muzzle device but the inner doen't, I guess to protect the targeting radar from muzzle blast maybe)).
      About the Pantsir, I'm not sure if it's in service with the ground troops (only version I've seen is the truck-based one used by the aerospace forces). I'd imagine that if it was in service with the PVO-SV, it'd be replacing the Tor (so being used at the divisional level and/or alongside the Tung in brigades).

    • @Paul91415
      @Paul91415 Před 3 lety

      @@cdgncgn One 2A38 gun consists of two barrels. Since the Tunguska got two of those systems, means there are 4 barrels firing. The inner barrel is just plain, so any shell that exits there is just flying as long as it can. The outer one has a cage on the muzzle. It is not a muzzle brake but rather a electrical shell programming device, like the west german Gepard got on the 35mm. When a round exits the barrel and fly throught the "cage", it gets programmed by the fire control system/computer, so the bullet in theory explodes near the predicted path of the tracked plane or helicopter.... and due to the high rate of fire, there is enough recoil and spread for all shells fired, which guarantees a hit

    Piss poor simulation is piss poor.
