There will NEVER be another decade like this. The fabulous eighties!

True. Because the degree of innocence is not here. The amount of media now is through the roof.

There still is but corporations only produce what they want to max profit
There are still meaningful lyrics in songs but they put it in the form of electronic DJ and shit music,

hell yeah! check out the whole album this song was on. Songs From The Big Chair (1985) every song is good, has that deep serious echo-ing sound.....Head Over Heels and Mothers Talk are standouts. And Everybody Wants to Rule The World is a defining 80s song everyone says. The entire album is a landmark 80s album and such high quality
This song really captures all the feelings of an emotionally manipulative relationship from the viewpoint of the person being manipulated when they finally reach their breaking point.

No you're just reaching. 🙄
Not everything and every song that came out in the 80's is about relationships. Life is not that complicated, man.

Man.... I remember dancing to this song and other great 80's hits at dance clubs like Florentine Gardens in Hollywood, San Diego, etc.... I miss the 80's so terribly much. Now I'm 61 and still trying to figure out just how in the hell the years flew by so quickly... 💔
Gut you have Not learned anything, so you are supporting a fascist state! Go Back and try again!
😭😭
Wild how the older you get you realize actually how quick life goes by. It can be depressing no doubt. But keep your head up ❤️🔥
that's how I am, I'll be 30 in September. What I do is choose a year and go through each month what happened and keep going. Then it'll help me realize how the time seems wrong like it flew by, 20 years ago which was 2003 seems to me like half that amount I was in 4th grade that year. Going through it doesn't seem like you'll ever get to it but you will, back then if I heard 2023 I would of thought it was very far in the future but now it's here. It's just strange how it'll creep up on you but it happens to everyone. My grandmother is 100 and she still remembers everything she was in her 30s when you were born or close to 40
Decades later that's still one of the most mind blowing guitar solo ever.

La Haine indeed! It’s just a powerful positive feeling
I was born the same year. I grew up listening to 80s music from my mom. I used to hate 80s pop now I like it.
Please stop it. Just stop. Please. Stop. Stop talking.
Wife and I were born in the 50's and still listen to songs with lasting and life filled with shared feelings we all should share in good, fun, and sad times .
LOL that was hella cringey lol
Sometimes I can't listen to this song. It gives me chills every time I hear it. The first time I heard it, I hated it, not because it's a bad song, but because it brought up some fears and emotions I didn't want to deal with. I also loved it as much as I hated it. The way it's composed is beautiful. It makes me emotional and gives me a feeling of yearning, loss, and peace. I start to feel this yearning and loss when that flute-sounding part at 0:50 comes in ......chills.

Very Depeche Mode. I always thought it was them as a kid who grew up with 70s and 80’s music. Tears for fears is amazing. They’re like Duran Duran,Depeche mode, and The Beatles combine. It's 1992 and I'm on the backseat of my parents car. I'm about 5 years old by then, barely learning to read. I'm obsessed with Tears for Fears melodies, so I began reading the lyrics inside the cassette (yes, a cassette) and singing my heart out all the way, as we travel to the south of Chile. Not only this band taught me to sing, it also taught me to sing and read in english, being from a spanish speaking country. Thank you so much for the upload, and thanks to mom and dad for not throwing me off the car (I mean, come on...it was a 14 hours drive).

I don't know about your mom, but there are woman who DON'T dream of having girls!!! I'm glad I have a son. I wouldn't even know how to relate to a girl!! I was a little terror. Plus, girls are moody & unnecessarily complicated with their "feelings". EVERYTIME I hear a little girl squeal or screech with their godawful high pitched girl voice I thank God he blessed me with a boy!! If I could, I'd have 4 more boys!! My dog's a boy too!!! Sorry. I read your post & couldn't help myself. 😜
I hope the 2020s decade turns around and becomes another '80s.
I seriously doubt that, yet one can always dream👍👍
Cardi B got woman of the year. No hope, buddy. At least we can come back to songs like this.
There will never be another 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s. It's over
Listen to the way this is constructed, just listen. It starts out minimally, just programmed drums synth pad and vocal. New sounds are added each verse and chorus until the breakdown. You get this lead synth/bass call/response thing going in, then when it goes back into the chorus the programmed drums are supplanted by real drums building up to the guitar solo. Awesome!

The song we all sing when we're frustrated and need a release.
+K4RN4GE911-t really does stand the test of time, doesn't it, and ever since I was introduced to this great song and this amazing band, this song has only gotten stronger for me to where I find this song, in this moment in time, particularly cathartic. I really want to scream along with this song until my throat is torn open, scream the primal scream Tears for Fears talks about so well in this song-the primal, instinctual scream of helplessness, of sheer humanity, to know you are still human. I'd argue this is a harsh satire/leveled criticism of 80s corporate ideology that has. . .well. . .only gotten worse where individuals are not treated as such, to where everyone is considered a tool to further the ends of the elite and nothing more, where basic humanity and feeling is stripped away at the end of the day where the corporations force apathy, to feel. . .nothing. You are no one, nothing. You don't think and you never feel. Basic human feeling is scrapped off, little by little, people become movements rustling through coin, cash, and the only release this man can find at the end of the day is to scream, at the top of his lungs, scream until his voice can no longer be heard, because that is the only way left for him to be able to feel something, anything, to know he is still human.
Oh man i think we can all agree eith that!

Now this one is a great old classic! Now this is real music. Anyone else notice how nowadays songs are only about drugs, money, or just plain disgusting things. However, this generation of music in which this song was published in, is the true golden age of classic pop and rock! So appreciate songs like these because you're not going to expect songs as good as these.
So true Jason. Modern chart music is so monochromatic - clubs, drugs n alcohol, relationships (mostly just the sex n breaking up parts only though) and thats it. Nothing to make you think, be inspired, stir your emotions or touch your heart and soul. The songs that did that are those like this stirring and challenging classic.
