I am ok with moderate to 2 low-carb meals a day. Occasionally, I eat a small snack like a half apple, tea with a couple of almond cookies, a handful of nuts, or dark chocolate drinks, always trying to be on the low end of carbs. It is pulling me through some health issues I have been dealing with. I never would have the time to eat every two hours anyway, and I never have been a frequent eater. Whatever works and keeps your numbers in check, that's fine. Everybody's life style is different, as a nurse, I barely have time to sit and have my two meals. Sometimes I have to fight for my breaks.

I was diagnosed his type two diabetic, as of November last year. Which is complicated by the fact that I am a liver transplant patient suffering from alpha-1 anti-trips and disorder. I eat one meal a day as my body doesnโ€™t produce bile like it used to and more than one meal, and a small one and that tends to come right back up. The irony of me testing diabetic now, is that Iโ€™ve lost nearly 100 pounds starting at 265 pounds at 6 foot two, to my current weight of 170 pounds.

Diet. I canโ€™t exercise much due to advanced liver disease (Iโ€™ve been on the transplant list for 4 years. Darn O- blood type). So I had to structure my mess very differently. I have 1/4 cup of steel rolled oatmeal every morning with a full spoon of cinnamon and Greek whole fat plain yogurt with some blueberries. A large cup of chai with steamed whole milk. Then a pita sandwich with lean protein and veggies for lunch and some steamed fish for dinner w a soy dressing w ginger and garlic. Smaller portions and more frequent meals without soda or diet soda. Tea two to three times a day seems to help especially green tea. Other than that staying away from sweets and low fiber fruit has been a winner.

I eat twice a day and have a healthy snack in between breakfast and dinner, in lieu of lunch. Then, usually a healthy snack after dinner, to curb my hunger and then does an apple cider vinegar, lemon water cleanse to detox my kidneys and liver and all. I fast for 12-14 hours and wake up with and ACV cleanse to keep my levels in check.

I once did a month with 5 meals a day . Generally I just split my lunch and evening meal into 2 each . My carb count didn't change and I ate every 3 hours from 7am onwards . Overall my testing levels stayed below 5 after each meal so in that respect it worked ok . Funny enough though I actually felt more hungry doing it and lacked the time to persevere with it .

I'd guess your body was probably alternating between high levels of insulin and then pumping ghrelin when insulin goes down, but I'm not an expert. But I know that ghrelin makes you hungry.

What I don't understand why is it so bad if my blood sugar drops within the normal between meals. So say it jumps to 150 an hour after I eat but 4 or 5 hours later it is back to like 100. why is that bad? Why should I eat every couple of hours to keep my blood sugar at 150? That doesn't make sense? Getting my blood sugars into "normal" range as much as possible should e better?
