The character Mulan is based on a legend, not a myth. That means, that while her story has been greatly altered over the centuries, there is a good chance that she was a real person, so Pocahontas is not the only Disney princess to claim they are 'based' (exceedingly generous with that term) on a real life person.

+Tyto Alba +Chisty A yess elsa is in the movie a queen and also will be in frozen 2 but she is at disney crowned as an official disney princess what makes her a princess To be a Disney Princess a character needs to meet these criteria: 1. Be a human character 2. She must be featured in an animated movie. 3. She cannot be introduced in a sequel. and 4. she has to either: be born into royalty, marry royalty or commit an act of heroism, which Mulan did. (5.)Then there's the unspoken rule that the movie in question has to be a hit or popular enough to bring in the money (which is why Princess Eilonwy from the Black Cauldron for example is not an official Disney princess)
@@kassidy2526 She is the princess in 2001's Atlantis: The Lost Empire. I misspelled her name; it's ''Kida'. Movie had an incredible voice cast, but it didn't do as well in the box office.
Cinderella's name was really Annabella, she slept in the chimney and got cinders and ashes on herself. Her stepmother and stepsisters, being the mean people they where, decided on a nickname: Cinderella.

they arent official disney princesses, well they are in the movie but that doesnt make them a official disney princess, because only if you have been crowned by disney to be a disney princess you are one official and it doesnt matter if you are one in the movie or not To be a Disney Princess a character needs to meet these criteria: 1. Be a human character 2. She must be featured in an animated movie. 3. She cannot be introduced in a sequel. and 4. she has to either: be born into royalty, marry royalty or commit an act of heroism, which Mulan did. horrorvictim yeah i dont see how mention makes any difference tho since they are still not disney princesses and this video is about disney princesses.......
i think the point is that they are princess in animated films born of royal blood. they both commited an act of heroism and they fit all the rules. BUT Disney never mentions them so they are the forgotten not the nonexistent. just a thought
Kida beyond deserves to be an official Disney princess as does Eilowny. Kida is one of my favorites and it really sucks that she is ignored by Disney and does not get any type of merchandising. I know a lot of people my age who were young when they watched it and said that they wish they could make her popular enough to make her an official Disney Princess. If they would re-release the movie into theaters, there would probably be enough support and some may even view it as a completely new movie if they marketed it right.
I'm really confused..... I used to watch Sleeping Beauty almost every single day when I was a kid..... she had 18 lines and was only on for 18 minutes!?!
@Kofoworola Arijeloye jeez im just saying how her hair would be so long. Ive been trying to get my hair as long as possible for 15 years already and im still not at that length And yes i watched the movie in theathers in 2010
Creepsy Skittlez Yea. it says it too in the movie I think. I'm not too sure if they did mention it but that's why her father was pushing her to find a prince to marry by her next birtday which was 16 and in 3 more days.
Julie Smith That's not true at all. It depends where you're from whether you go with 'an' or 'on' sounding. My grandmother's middle name was Anna and it was most certainly pronounced with an 'on' sound. She was Hungarian/raised in Canada.
Kayla Marie She's not, neither is Anna. Disney hasn't put them in the official Disney princess list. I can understand why Elsa isn't, but I don't know why Anna hasn't been put in the official list like Rapunzel, Tiana and Merida.
oooh19 the originals state that she's 14. she's always been 14. of course Disney didn't find that to be vital information to mention in a children's movie.
Sophizzel G It's actually worse than that -- most people know Disney animators based Snow White's appearance on Marge Champion, the 14 year old dancer they hired as an animation model, but not that 32 year old Walt Disney instructed them to make the Prince look like HIM. Why you gotta be so creepy, Walt?
alc. awesome Yeah that's true. But disney considers her a princess because to be a princess you have to be married into royalty, born royal, or do a heroic action
RaeRae, Kida is the princess of Disney's movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire. This is one movie that I want to see be remade, but it wasn't popular enough for that, hence why no one knows about it....
"Arabian Nights" is another name for "One Thousand and One Nights". It's not two separate books, it's the same collection of stories (with a frame story binding all the other stories together). If you can't get your facts straight about something as basic as this, how can you expect people to trust you've bothered to check your other claims?
Ylva Carennah Aladin isn’t originally in “Arabian Nights” or “One Thousand and One Nights” it was added in after Disney, the story existed but not in those books.
Maybe Pocahontas doesn't wear a crown/tiara because - newsflash! - she's not a princess! Sorry, daughter of a chief doesn't make her a princess. She - much like Mulan, who is also not a princess - was just added into the princess group to make it more racially diverse.
I think it was less about making it racially diverse and more about toy revenue. The more disney princesses there are, the more toys they can create about it. And Mulan in particular probably was introduced to the bunch because of the success rate of the movie and how well perceived she was as a character.
Anaya Shea Where are you getting your information from? Kings/queens/princesses and princes do not exist within the Native American culture. It's people on the outside that label them as such. answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110202093018AAXFToS
DAMMIT PEOPLE GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT EVERYONE SAYING POCAHONTAS AND MULAN ARENT PRINCESSES BUT THEY ARE 100% THEY ARE OFFICIALLY CROWNED BY DISNEY!!!! To be a Disney Princess a character needs to meet these criteria: 1. Be a human character 2. She must be featured in an animated movie. 3. She cannot be introduced in a sequel. and 4. she has to either: be born into royalty, marry royalty or commit an act of heroism, which Mulan did. No it was not real Mulan was a Chinese legend. Threw is no proof of her existence. There are a lot of versions of the story and each storey was different.
Here’s a biggest coincidence: Rapunzel was trapped in her tower for like 18 years and she when she was finally free, she went to her home, a city called Corona I’m sorry but long story short she was quarentined in her tower for 18 YEARS and her home was called CORONA please tell me everyone else sees what im seeing
the other reason sleeping beauty was considered a flop was because of the set pieces. the artwork that went into designing that world are completely unique amongst disney movies (nothing else looks like it, and that was done on purpose) and they cost A LOT of money and, yes, took a long time. it was a success but it couldnt make back that massive cost, and that's why they didn't make another princess movie for decades afterwards
If my understanding is correct, the Mulan "princess" is based off of a character in a chinese folk tale and the character in said folk tale is based off a real person. So you could argue that Disney's Mulan is based off of a real person or off a folk character. I could of course be wrong about this, but that is my understanding.
The Disney princess are that young, because they're based on German Märchen. When these were written people even princess got married in there teens. (And at the age of 40 someone was old and a lot of people died much younger .)
I just need to say, did anyone notice that when Rapunzel braided up her hair, it became heel length. Her normal hair length is actually, i think the height of the tower she was trapped in.
O shit, nevermind then, I found a fact about a kids kissing frogs after the film, factualfacts.com/animals/after-disneys-princess-and-the-frog-movie-came-out-over-50-children-were-hospitalized-with-salmonella-from-kissing-frogs/ 😂 I'm such a asshole, I actually blocked that guy, damn.
Zipper Skull Ariel was the only princess who was a mermaid and that had a tail XD and Tiana was the only princess who kissed a frog and got turned into one
Belle has been confirmed as 17, as well as Jasmine at 15. Aurora, Ariel, Merida, and Mulan are 16. Anna and Rapunzel are 18. Cinderella and Tiana are 19. Elsa is 21 at least. Some of their ages are announced in the movie (Aurora, Ariel, and Rapunzel for example) but some/most of them are assumed from their original stories as well as the time period they would have lived in.
Sarah Miller Yeahh it's pretty insane how they twisted it.... I have no idea WHY they twisted it. Mulan was actually a real woman as well. Both stories ended badly for both woman. =_=
Lulu Murphy And the german girl I am hate it, that there are so much people, who like the fairytails, but don't know anything about it, because they know it from Disney and Disney cut out so much details. The bad ones and any beauty details. For an example the suicide of the little mermaid to save the prince, his beautiful young wife (she doesn't was the witch) and his servants before they crush against ehm, mountains(???? ? My english is not good ) In a german film that I liked as a child she became to be flowers on water. It was beautiful. Oh .... AND FU***** HELL IN THE ORIGINAL OF FROZEN THERE ARE NOT TWO ROYAL SISTERS!!!!
I agree. They also don't show that Cinderella's real name was Ella but her evil step sisters called her "cinder" ella because she was always covered in cinder from the fire
Hmmm there's no proof that mulan is mythological. That's like in 2000 years when we are all dead and gone and someone's like oh yeah that screen rant dude wasnt a real person he never existed.

Mizumi Hemote cuz she too op for any princesses or also at least the best movie ever
Mizumi Hemote I would love if they make an actual movie of mulan

If Cinderella’s shoe fit so good, when why did it fall off

@@allisonshih1594 😂
Ummm even if a slipper is a perfect fit, shouldn’t she also still be able to take it off easily? Like, you could have a personally tailored shoe and still have it slip off easily because, well, how else are you going to take it off?

Because her foot got sweaty while dancing
How about princess Elsa in Frozen being able to create sentient life, in the form of the snowman.
Chisty A and being able to change her clothes with ice powers somehow

yess elsa is in the movie a queen and also will be in frozen 2 but she is at disney crowned as an official disney princess what makes her a princess
To be a Disney Princess a character needs to meet these criteria:
1. Be a human character

There was another princess that has tattoos: Princess Kita in Atlantis.

Cinderella's name was really Annabella, she slept in the chimney and got cinders and ashes on herself. Her stepmother and stepsisters, being the mean people they where, decided on a nickname: Cinderella.
Taylor Fenton it was Ella everyone knows that
Taylor Fenton oh I thought it was Ella 🐢
Drop the Cinder and her actual name is Ella.
"Ella" comes from CinderELLA. Her really name is a old French name: Lucette
In Cinderella if all the stuff her fairy godmother gave her changed back at midnight 🕛 why didn’t the shoes change??
Rama Tilekar that makes sense
@@multifandomedits7169 also every other thing was made from changing one thing or the other but shoes weren't
That way they never changed to anything else

Because she left Cinderella keep it
princess/queen Kida of Atlantis has never been accepted as such and she was a total badass before Elsa ever arrived
The reason why is that Atlantis wasn't popular enough in the sales....

Katie Bedard what about the Mulan people

Was hoping for a mention of the forgotten/ignored princesses like Kida (Atlantis) or Eilonwy (The Black Cauldron).
they arent official disney princesses, well they are in the movie but that doesnt make them a official disney princess, because only if you have been crowned by disney to be a disney princess you are one official and it doesnt matter if you are one in the movie or not

I know the rules, that's why I said mention.
horrorvictim yeah i dont see how mention makes any difference tho since they are still not disney princesses and this video is about disney princesses.......
i think the point is that they are princess in animated films born of royal blood. they both commited an act of heroism and they fit all the rules.

Disney got it wrong two N's is pronounced ann as is ant. But one N is pronounced on. Disney screwed up the name.
Julie Smith That's not true at all. It depends where you're from whether you go with 'an' or 'on' sounding. My grandmother's middle name was Anna and it was most certainly pronounced with an 'on' sound. She was Hungarian/raised in Canada.

They didn't forgot, because Princess Kida never made it to the official Disney princess list, unfortunately.
Miki☆Chan Kida is not a Princess.. She is QUEEN of Atlantis
athina kantatsiou I know but it just slipped my mind when I was replying to Moon Staar. It's been a LONG time since I watched the Atlantis movies.
Then by that logic Elsa isn't a Disney Princess either.
Kayla Marie She's not, neither is Anna. Disney hasn't put them in the official Disney princess list. I can understand why Elsa isn't, but I don't know why Anna hasn't been put in the official list like Rapunzel, Tiana and Merida.
Snow White being 14 AND THE PRINCE WAS 28?!?!!!!!!!THINK THAT THROUGH
who stated his age? they never mentioned it. and when was snow white's age outright stated in the film?
oooh19 the originals state that she's 14. she's always been 14. of course Disney didn't find that to be vital information to mention in a children's movie.
Sophizzel G it's funny because pocahontas is 12-13 making her the youngest princess and john smith was 27
and Pocahontas was 1a John Smith was like 48 thats even worse
mulan isnt accually a princess. shes just a girl who married the general.....
but is the general technally the prince!
alc. awesome Yeah that's true. But disney considers her a princess because to be a princess you have to be married into royalty, born royal, or do a heroic action

I loved those 2 movies 😁
but it says disney on the poster and wikipedia, no?
Atlantis IS Disney, however, it has been mostly forgotten, as Kida is not listed as an official Disney princess.
Mirai Kuriyama who is kida?
That's why the merchant is singing Arabian nights at the beginning of the movie
Maybe Pocahontas doesn't wear a crown/tiara because - newsflash! - she's not a princess!
Sorry, daughter of a chief doesn't make her a princess. She - much like Mulan, who is also not a princess - was just added into the princess group to make it more racially diverse.
I think it was less about making it racially diverse and more about toy revenue. The more disney princesses there are, the more toys they can create about it. And Mulan in particular probably was introduced to the bunch because of the success rate of the movie and how well perceived she was as a character.
Madame Fluffy in Native American culture, it is but idk about mulan
Actually she did an act of heroism
Anaya Shea
Where are you getting your information from?
Kings/queens/princesses and princes do not exist within the Native American culture. It's people on the outside that label them as such.

the other reason sleeping beauty was considered a flop was because of the set pieces. the artwork that went into designing that world are completely unique amongst disney movies (nothing else looks like it, and that was done on purpose) and they cost A LOT of money and, yes, took a long time. it was a success but it couldnt make back that massive cost, and that's why they didn't make another princess movie for decades afterwards
Woah.
Snow White is my age, yet she acts so young and pure.
Sweet innocence
That's interesting... I always thought Mulan was based on a real person!
Dean Yordanov it is we learn Chinese at my school and our teacher says she was based of a real person
Well according this video only Pocahontas was!
If my understanding is correct, the Mulan "princess" is based off of a character in a chinese folk tale and the character in said folk tale is based off a real person. So you could argue that Disney's Mulan is based off of a real person or off a folk character.
I could of course be wrong about this, but that is my understanding.
Well Mulan is from an old poem so people are still not sure if it was about a real person or not
She is real.
All the actors age
Jasmine : 15
Belle: 17
Snow White : 14
All the actors were these ages
jasmine was 17
Snow White is crazy.
Or she had some mind injuries during her childhood
The Disney princess are that young, because they're based on German Märchen. When these were written people even princess got married in there teens. (And at the age of 40 someone was old and a lot of people died much younger .)
HorsesRLyfe Jasmine was 17 because it says that she needs to be married before her 18th birthday, she only would have three days....So she was 17
Pocahontas: Nine-eleven.

мσσиѕтяєαм lуяιcs and snow white is older than Pocahontas she was 11 or 12 in real life
Sarah Martin yeah
Belle has been confirmed as 17, as well as Jasmine at 15. Aurora, Ariel, Merida, and Mulan are 16. Anna and Rapunzel are 18. Cinderella and Tiana are 19. Elsa is 21 at least. Some of their ages are announced in the movie (Aurora, Ariel, and Rapunzel for example) but some/most of them are assumed from their original stories as well as the time period they would have lived in.
Pocahontas was real... what the fuck. 😂😂😂
Brooke Lanham Disney corrupted Pocahontas's story and generations will think that's the truth.

For an example the suicide of the little mermaid to save the prince, his beautiful young wife (she doesn't was the witch) and his servants before they crush against ehm, mountains(???? ? My english is not good )
In a german film that I liked as a child she became to be flowers on water. It was beautiful.

wasn't she a queen tho
She became a queen, but so did Elsa and Elsa is still considered a Disney Princess.
