With the Moons of Peril Drop Rate announced, we can now determine whether Target Farming Uniques by only killing bosses respective to the items you're searching for is worth it. Included is some math and metrics for you to decide for yourself if just slamming one boss over and over again is better than doing complete runs!

Great analysis. Too bad we don't know how trading in dupes works but I think you're right, target farming is clearly the winner if you're trying to finish that last set.
Disclaimer: This analysis does not account for the possibility of getting Uniques by trading in Dupes to Eyatlali. There isn't any official announcement on these drop rates nor enough data to know for sure what these rates look like.
It may be the case doing full runs and trading in uniques is faster, but personally I doubt this.
If you need all 3 sets, doing all 3 is obviously worth it.
We also don't know if the additional rolls have a preference for uncompleted pieces regardless of set.
@PattyGoesZoom That's entirely possible they just didn't say anything to suggest that in the blog post so I'm just going off basic assumption that it's equal weighting. we would need a LOT of data to tell unfortunately
From the first stream iirc they mentioned the odds of getting a unique from trading it in is the same as the odds at getting a drop in general, so a 1/56 odd per dupe! Cant confirm 100% but i feel like i heard that from one of the devs from when they traded it in

So I got 2 full sets of the blue armor, is it better to just kill the yellow and red one? Or do all 3? I miss out on yellow legs and full set melee.

As an iron I am interested in getting all sets, I am sure they will have they niche situations. Currently 75kc and dry, hopefully I roll well the next 75 :)
Kinda wanna do blue and blood moon boss only to fishish those 2 sets but it's so chill doing a full run while watching TV and I like the banked prayer exp so I'll prob do full runs and use dupe eclipse as coffer candy
Great video explanation. I’m 9/12 items. Blue and blood completed. I’m not a math or stats guy, but maybe it’s still better to do a full run to get the extra 1/56 for eclipse (even though it’s 1/3 of 1/56 to get an eclipse piece via the extra roll)
But chucking the dupe in the bin - which now since I have 2 full sets would be 8/11 chance (since I can’t get the eclipse helm - so it’s 11 and not 12) and then chucking any dupe for 1/56 roll for I assume a set I don’t have.
So that’d be:
1/56 for the eclipse boss
1/56 for full run (but 1/3)
1/28 for Blue or Blood dupe
- 2/3 chance the item is a dupe
Converted to 1/56 for an eclipse piece - assuming dupes aren’t possible on rerolls (which I don’t know)
I’m an iron, so I feel like I’ll want to do the full runs for the darts but I don’t know.
Im 90% sure you can pices from bosses you arent killing, ive done over 140kc with only killing eclipse and blue moon, and ive gotten the dual machwhittles and the blood moon helmet( im only missing the blood moon tassests and chest)
So if im killing all 3 bosses and have a full set of blue armor + weapon, and none of the other sets, do I now have a chance of getting a dupe blue set piece over the sets I dont have yet?
Yes, but you're also getting a bonus roll which 2/3 of the time will hit either blood or eclipse, so it's up to you whether you want to kill the blue boss or just keep spamming the first 2.

Man I was unaware of target farming, I spent all day farming 80 chests killing all 3 bosses just to finish the log (only missing Blue Moon tassets) I saw your video and started targeting Blue Moon. At the 2nd chest, I got the final piece for the green log. Thank you very much I´m freeeeeeee!
Nearly green logging it in 80 kc is crazy lucky, like double the drop rate
So if i get a unique, i sell it at ge, i no longer have that unique. Will it still count as a dupe if ive already received it as a drop but no longer have it?
It goes off collection log so even if you sell it, it'll still be considered as a dupe, so you won't receive that drop again until you have all the other uniques

Moons of peril
1/6 of the normal loot per chest, but it takes 1/3rd of the time. So it’s only 1/2 the normal loot per hour of doing Moons. Not too bad!
my first item was at 94 so I definitely went dry lol
52 chests only blue moon head x.x
57 chests - all 3 bosses. Got 2 uniques
i've done 79 chests all 3 bosses with 0 uniques
I completed my log at 118 full runs, with one dupe, the ranged weapon.
540KC no blood chest still solo blood chests since 380kc kill me.
I hate that you put Moonlight Moth in NPC Indicator instead of tagging them because like 90% of them can't be caught and are just atmosphere lol
In my mind i somehow knew this, but i never managed to spend the 20seconds to just tag the right ones

I did 148 runs, green logged on 15 total pieces lol. Got absolutely spooned
225 kc and i have 4 drops.... "dry"

I tried to be clear with my methodology so if I missed something by all means, feel free to point it out. It lines up exactly with the 1/14 number they stated though
i think the dupe prevention is a bad change and putting ironmen on EZ mode

I think it's fine, considering this is not a boss where you are supposed to dedicate a lot of time. It doesn't give great value rewards from the common drops (great for midgame, not so much after), so if you had to stay for 1000 kc it would be insanely pointless.
