I play boogie boogie piano also, my favorite style these days. (classical background). This guy is the real deal, just on another level. The fast walking octaves in the LH while tearing up the RH ain't easy to do. Plays extremely clean also, inspirational playing!

It's all about how you manage the attack. For most players, the notes have a hard leading edge. Even though you play quickly, the notes just roll into each other smoothly. Very unique style. Easy to listen to and more fun because there are few jarring sharp edges anywhere. It becomes a melody within a melody. Keep on, you have the touch :)

After Hours. Sometimes called the Blues National Anthem. theme song for Herman Grizzard's WLAC radio show in the 60's. You really should get it by Avery Parrish. Pinetop Perkins does it too. Parrish recorded it in the big band era, 40's with the Erskine Hawkins Orchestra. It's my favorite all time song, and it will be played at my funeral.
As a white kid in the 70's doin' my little paper route, getting beat down bad with a branch by a black guy (who's in prison for murder now) for "being in the wrong hood"... (I guess I was gettin' called out for my heritage) I'm not gettin' any of that pain here. Just finesse and joviality. Blues man. Boogie-woogie ain't necessarily "nice with smiles." This is more like ice-skating.
