  • Tlyard sent me a set of Model 3 & Y Ventilated Cooling Seat Cover Breathable Seat Cushion to try out. With the hot Summer in full swing in Australia, I was keen to see how they would work out. Have a watch and let me know what you think.

    I’ve been using these for a while now and recently did a round trip from Sydney-Brisbane with it.
    Hands down I love it, the ventilations for my sweaty back fat outweighs the negatives (the sound and feeling the fan).

      Well there’s an image I won’t get out of my head soon. 🤣 glad to hear they’re working well for you. 👍🏻😀

    I looked up the more advanced model and watched their installation video. That’s way more work than I would be comfortable with doing, especially when they’re slicing off the heating elements and using power tools to alter the seat and cushions.

    I went ahead and ordered the white option as well for driver & passenger seat. I have white seats already so should fit perfectly. My order included a Tesla Plaid Aluminum Trunk Badge for free, that's sweet! Thanks for the video Lee & Happy New Year 🎉🎆🚗

    It's been a while since I have had a car with leather seats (2006) but I do remember them betting a bit warm during summer.
    It is something I am a bit concerned about with the black interior of our MY but these could be a good option.
    Looks like our car is going to be delivered sometime in Feb now (Tesla assigned a new one as the ship got sent back to Shanghai) so will only get the tail end of summer in it.
    Hope you all had a good Christmas 🙂

      The seats have not been uncomfortable or anything. It was more a case of I wanted to try these. 😀
      Whilst the seats can get hot. I most times remember to turn on the AC via the app a few minutes before I get into the car and by the time I get there things have cooled down nicely.
      That ship drama has been pretty sucky. Glad you’re hopefully getting your car soon-ish. 😀

      Even though its a little way off, it feels like a weight has been lifted now that a new car is on the way.

    honestly when i owned my model 3, i purchased a woven fabric seat mat from ali-express and it did the job of not overheating my back to the plastic seats. Much less hassle to install and clean as well. I remember reading about these affecting side airbags if they cover the seat like this? Could just be a myth though!

    • @notacarguy_au
      @notacarguy_au  Před 7 měsíci

      Tlyard mention quite a few times on their website that these don't effect the side airbags. Of course that's them saying that so take it as that.🤷🏻
      I never found that the leather seats were much of an issue last summer or this summer. I thought the fans would be nice. I am currently reviewing an EV6 and I do really like the included ventilated seats in that. ☺️

      thats exactly the route i went... from the M3 to Ioniq 5 and do enjoy the comforts... but i miss the better software in the Teslas.@@notacarguy_au

    could you swap the driver and passenger covers to have the cable close to the centre concole? I'm thinking of ordering just the driver seat so might order the passenger one for use on the driver side

    • @notacarguy_au
      @notacarguy_au  Před 7 měsíci +1

      It actually doesn’t make and difference as to where the cable is as it fits fine. If you got the passenger one for the driver seat the buttons would be on the “inside” side and may be more under you leg? 🤷🏻‍♂️ so that may be an issue.

    • @leemarsh5258
      @leemarsh5258 Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@notacarguy_auYeah but if you swap them over wouldn't the button be on the other side (as well as the cable) so as not to keep turning it on when you get in! I'd have the same problem here in the UK with RHD - great video so thanks for that. Would be interesting to know that if you fit them the other way round do the controls move to the middle console rather than on the outer edge?

      @@leemarsh5258 I was going to ask Lee the exact same question, and also if he had swapped them over left to right and right to left. Maybe at the next tyre rotation ;-)

    Bit of a shame they sent you white covers for your black seats (considering they have black ones also available according to their website).

    Or buy a real car instead of a Tesla. So silly all the things has to do due to their silly bland interior.

      That’s an odd perspective. Lots of folks get lots of extra bits and bobs for lots of cars. What is it that bothers you so much about this one?🤷🏻‍♂️

      Yes. Very smart observation. Only EVs get hot on the inside. My C6 vette with BLACK leather seats have no issues at all in the summer. Oh wait. How did I find this page? I am old. So other old people having EV phobia are the EXACT people that would still be riding horse and buggy and making fun of Henry Ford. It's embarrassing.
