    I was born and raised in Huntsville and I absolutely love living here. Can't say enough good things about it! The only thing I do not like about it is how many people live here now. But it's not bad at all. Everything is steadily growing with it so it's just fine.

    Father was a 30+ yr Army NCO, worked Missiles (Nike & Pershing mostly)/FA/ADA,we got Redstone Arsenal every second posting (Or every stateside one,depending how you look at it!) from the '60s to his retirement in the '80s. Our family considered it as our 'Second Hometown'. They later actually regretted NOT retiring in the HSV/RSA/Madison Co.region. (Pressure from other members of the extended family who 'wanted us to be closer so they could visit?' (But still ever seldom did!! :D) My parents also have both since passed.) Went back to visit in '17 for a week,and even as much as it changed (I-565 was still being planned----and argued about,many didn't want it!----at the time,among other things?) I still knew my way around by memory after 34 yrs!!! Have given thought after my visit to 'correcting that mistake' and 'maybe' moving back to this area in a few years?

      @mjpottertx Před 3 lety +1

      I grew up in the Industrial Midwest and have lived in Houston for 40 years since college. With the tornados up north they are over with quickly and we never got hit. Not much in the way of preparations needed other than knowing where you will take shelter. Hurricanes are worse .... been hit by several including Harvey plus all the anxiety for a week or more of where one will make landfall. Plus two mandatory evacuations (Rita and Ike) and days without power. I’ll take tornados as a hazard any day.

    The most efficient roadwork in the U.S.. Huntsville highlight shirts get it done on zierdt road. Lots of good food to choose from, you can even get KFC chicken or Taco Bell in the same building here. Lots of burger kings where you have your McDonald’s so we enjoy lots of options. Another thing is the wonderful things to do I’ve been to the US space and rocket center hasn’t changed a bit and it is heralded as being better than Disney world here and when we finish at The space and rocket center we go to bridgestreet and that’s a typical fun time for Huntsville! Otherwise we are close to Nashville or Atlanta and other cities if we want to do anything else that is good for food and fun. Love Alabama, healthy state too. Got monte sano mountain. It’s not as big as other mountains but they have grass to walk and porta potties. Tate Services brand last time I checked so they’re the good kind, always clean. Huntsville is a good place to live especially for 21-29 year old age groups because they have a place on governors where you can order craft beers and drink them and throw axe at wall. UAH is more recognizable here than MIT. And our Research park has a lot of retired military people, it is really fun!

    I live in Huntsville, currently in Birmingham for the holidays, and I think the football culture here is completely ridiculous. There's hardly any logic or reason behind all the fanaticism for most people here. I've lived in Alabama most of my life and I have never understood the football culture. It's just pure insanity.

      It was something we had never experienced either until we moved here to North Alabama!

    Pull over✋️ for funerals. I mean stop. 🛑 I don't care where you are from, it doesn't matter how you did it there. Pull over and STOP DRIVING and wait for the funerals. That's how we do it in Huntsville. Show some respect. You can wait.

      It is always good manners to pull over for a funeral procession, regardless of where you live.

    What I would hate about living in rocket city
    1.its a city
    2.its a city
    3.its a city
    I would rather have wide open spaces and deal with mosquitoes humidity and rain than have to deal with people traffic and subdivisions where they tell when to cut your grass and what you can and can't do with property you bought and paid for...a lot of people call this living...just sayin

    Be careful of what you ask for !
    Some secrets are better left secret !

    Why "hate?" How about a softer word, like dislike.
