BGC used to be a American military reservation in the 1900s and was a protected woodlands. My grandfather's family used to cultivate rice along the Taguig-Paters River which is part of Fort McKinley(later called Fort Bonifacio) when the Philippine took over the military reservation. The BGC area used to be a woodland/forest with lots of wild animals such as monkeys, deers, wild boars, different snakes, wild birds, field rats, bats living in a cave that wasn't there anymore when BGC was developed. And lots of trees and wild berries, fruits, wild root crops. I grew up in the area and we used to go up and roam around the area when it was still a forest. We gather dried twigs and branches that we use as firewood during way back when LPG is unheard of. We also used to fish at the river which used to have alligators and monitor lizards abound until the early 1960s.

To be very fair, there are a lot of upscale developments that are identical to BGC not just in metro manila but in other provinces as well. To take note of, we have Ortigas CBD, Eastwood City, Bridgetown Development, Ayala Alabang, Araneta City, Manila Bay Area Development, Greenhills and others out there. But I understand why people would only talk about bgc and makati maybe because of its size and that the other developments I mentioned are quite not connected to each other by any means of direct and convenient mode of transportation like train or bus.
believe me she has no clue, she thinks she does but NO clue at all. she grew up in the Province not knowing or seeing as a kid how developed Manila was. She's a typical know it all Korean immigrant who thinks Philippines is a developing country. Not realizing Philippines was more developed then Korea during the 1920's after WW2 and during the 60's. She was so brainwashed into thinking BGC was the only developed city and nothing was before that such a moronic way of thinking 😂

Just a realization .. upon seeing this video .. I can say that the Philippines isn't really that bad of a country like what some of the people say .. just like what Kristy said in the video .. you just have to experience what's in it before you judge ❤

You should also bring them to Alabang , Ayala center, Aseana bay city , 0rtigas center to see the other business districts aside from BGC.

First time I went to BGC was mid 2000s and last time I went before leaving for middle east was 2012 and there were only a few buildings and way more grass but lots of constructions going on back then. Came back in 2017 but didn't get the chance to see BGC cuz I live in QC but only got a chance to go there again around 2021 and boy I was shocked by the development and some other locations around Manila.
Yea I wish the entire Philippines can be developed like that and have affordable housing for all levels of incomes. I definitely enjoyed not seeing all the spaghetti wires and grimy buildings.

Yes, it's true that only a handful of places in the Philippines are developed and have good infrastructure but many Filipinos are too sensitive and get upset by that fact, lol.
BGC lang ata pinagmamalaki na maganda infrastructure eh. More on nature and beaches lang ata maganda dito. Dami pang kurakot kaya sablay talaga pinas. Madami satin gusto umalis tlaga

But, as I mentioned, many Filipinos are too sensitive and easily offended if you criticize the Philippines in any way. They don't handle criticism well. Simply stating that the Philippines is still a developing country can get them riled up, lol. They'll argue that the Philippines is 'newly industrialized,' without realizing that 'newly industrialized' still falls under the 'developing' classification. A nation can only be classified as either developing or developed; there's no in-between. A country is considered developed only if it achieves a high-income economy status, which the Philippines has not reached. Sadly, Vietnam has now surpassed the Philippines economically, despite previously trailing behind. Even their HDI is higher than that of the Philippines. The cost of living in Vietnam is lower, and the quality of life is higher compared to the Philippines. Additionally, their infrastructure is better, and their poverty rate is lower. It's no wonder many Filipinos want to move out of the country; the situation hasn't really improved much. It's still a poor country being run by incompetent and selfish individuals who only care about their own well-being and prosperity. It seems the government don't want to allocate additional funding to improve the education system in the Philippines either because they need to keep the masses ignorant so the dishonest individuals in positions of power or authority can continue to deceive and manipulate people.

I like that you and your family are having happy life in the Philippines, but it is really true that Koreans in your country who have never been to the Philippines have very very negative thoughts about our country. I’ve seen so many interviews and vlogs where they only talk about slums and rural areas. And I think this is due to ignorance, they just believe what they read and hear. I now live in North America and I never have any preconceived notions or thoughts about a place i’m visiting. I always anticipate good things and don’t have expectations. I just enjoy what I see and experience. Your cousin just confirmed that before she came to the Philippines she had those negative thoughts as well. So I guess you can’t blame when Filipinos react to Koreans comments.

And it should not be called ignorance, rather, it’s not educated and not experienced lang. we only get to know about a certain thing when we travel or explore. It’s same thing as that. And Sooah never said negative thing about Philippines. Sabi niya “She didn’t know there are places like this in the Philippines” and she also thought like Jacob before visiting mnl. Sooah only stayed in the Philippines for one year and only in province area so it’s a normal reaction.
