    Gosh you are just *so* IMPRESSIVE. I greatly admire your courage and determination when it comes to working with new and unknown materials, and the fact that you never let your nerves stop you from bringing your creative visions to life. You are truly my favorite creator on this entire website.
    Thank you for being an inspiration for other makers out there, for your consistent efforts on this channel, for your high quality project craftsmanship and video editing, and for bringing beauty into this world. I have such great respect and admiration for you.
    Always looking forward to your next creation. Hugs from the USA. 🇺🇸

      Oh wow, thank you! 🥰 I can't even express how much your words made my day. Lately CZcams has stopped showing my new videos to people and that really discouraged me from putting in all the effort of editing new ones. (The making never stops, only the editing lags behind, hahaha). But your kind words showed me that even if my videos don't do well, they are still worth it, for the people who watch it are the best 🥰🥰

    I believe correct dye color is done in layers... it should not look like plastic.... there should be depth.
    I studied for 5 years, making leather shoes. And all types of leather items.
    You did very well for beginner work.
    .
    I was taught thick leather should be "cased" that is soaked until soft and then allowed to surface dry.
    Thin leather is only wiped with water.... in-between thickness needs a somewhere in-between amount of wetness with an almost dry surface.

      Casing leather varies by the thickness for tooling, if you get it to wet, you can, normally just let it dry and start over.
      I normally use the soak and seal method, of getting it very wet and sticking it in a ziplock overnight if it's not from a kit with anything pre-attached that is made of metal. Before working on it, I pull it out and let it rest for a few minutes before applying a little water and if it's all absorbed within a minute but not in seconds it's normally ready for it.
      Casing softens the leather and lets you do a lot of stuff to it, and it locks in place as it dries out, so the reason you don't want to get leather stuff very wet is because it can easily be marked up or deformed if you have something and aren't careful, but the same thing is useful for when you're making things out of leather

    You don't need to dunk the hide into water until bubbles disapear for stamping/tooling vegtan leather. This method is ONLY used when you want to wetmold the leather.
    You should juste have to spray or wet the top grain for the leather with a sponge and let it rest few minutes for the moistness to even out.
    You also need to buy natural vegtan leather without any finish on it, or CRUST.
    When the leather is dyed in the tannery they often apply an aniline finish on it making it water resistant, which means you'll have a hardtime stamping/tooling and dying above that without using an alcohol based dye.

    • @AspiringCostumeDesigner
      @AspiringCostumeDesigner  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Oh, interesting, then I did do it right the first time when I only used a sponge🤔 Yeah, I learnt the difference between veg tan and chrome dyed the hard way, when I first tried to stamp stuff, and it didn't work at all, and I thought I'm not doing something right. Turns out those were chrome dyed leathers. These were veg tan leathers though, I confirmed with the shop, but again, who knows?

    The rivets you want to use on straps that are under tension are not those double cap rivets. Use copper rivets and burrs instead.

    Oooooh this is fantastic! It must have been so scary working with leather, being afraid of ruining it all with every step forward ^^'
    If I may ask, are you using an embroidery machine, and in which case, which one do you use?

    • @AspiringCostumeDesigner
      @AspiringCostumeDesigner  Před 8 měsíci

      Yes, I have a Janome Memory Craft 500e embroidery machine. The scariest part was that if I make a mistake I can't undo it - unlike with sewing, where you can unpick the stitches

    • @thecraftyhistorian
      @thecraftyhistorian Před 8 měsíci

      Thank you so much for your answer ! I realise right now I phrased it really wrong as one distinctively sees said machine in your video but not its specific model ^^'
      On to your other videos now, for once, I am grateful CZcams randomly suggested I watched your video :)
