I feel like this reveals a lot about Cutie. I'm thinking they've ALWAYS been tuning into people's thoughts casually, seeing as they did on their first encounter with Geordi. Most of the empowered characters hold their abilities dear to them, so Cutie must have never seen theirs as an issue but rather something that adds to who they are as a person just like everyone else. I truly don't believe Cutie's a bad person, but they've definitely relied too much on it to understand people rather than hearing what the person wants to way through their own words

True. Haven't actually listened to the Geordi playlist but maybe it also has to do with anxiety? I wouldn't say I nor Cutie have anxiety (like I said, haven't watched the playlist) but everyone feels anxious sometimes, and I'm the kind of person who's very concerned about my actions and how other people think of me even amongst my friend group. If I had a power to get into people's heads and know what they think of me, or even what I could change to be better if they do have any negative opinions, I'd probably use it. Or if someone's having a bad day and won't say anything about it, I'd give anything to know what's going on if it means helping them.
Additionally, like you said, we have to consider the fact that to Cutie, going into people's heads is the norm. Maybe they've just never faced the consequences of it. Maybe they were never taught it was wrong because it's such a fundamental part of them and they never considered it. Growing up in a world without telepathy _I'd_ understand that scourging for someone's personal issues is a massive breach of privacy regardless of intention, but who knows if Cutie does. For all we know they could've lived in an environment with plenty of telepaths where that well-meaning breach of privacy was the norm. Maybe Cutie's family members, friends, or even past partner(s) all did the same thing or didn't mind and this is the first time it became a problem. Personally, I live in a household where the doors to everyone's rooms are open at all times and people barge into each other's rooms constantly with no issue, but I'm sure many people wouldn't like that. That's just the way my household has always functioned. We've even got an example in the redactedverse (lol) itself. David sees shifting as a big personal thing even in front of his partner but Asher could care less shifting to avoid the pizza guy.
And of course, we also need to consider the other side of the spectrum, aka taking into account any possible traumatic events that could've happened for Cutie to become this way. Maybe they didn't look inside people's heads as often until they learned that their friends or even past partner(s) talked behind their back or hated them. They can't simply trust what people _say_ anymore. Maybe they're scared that Geordi would do the same to them, or are scared that maybe there's something wrong with them for so many people to hate them and thus want to know if there's things they could change so Geordi won't hate them. Like you said, this probably isn't the first time Cutie went into people's heads willy nilly, it's just the only incident we see + lasted as long as it did. And if Geordi is upset, what if Cutie thinks it's because of them? Maybe they instinctively get into his head because they're scared they have something to do with it, or that maybe they could do something to make it better.
Cutie is such an interesting character to me, and I 100% believe they mean no harm. These two definitely need a time off before meeting each other again though, and whatever the cause I hope Cutie learns the errors of their ways and gets better. Sorry for the long analysis, I adore complex characters like em, not to mention I have characters in a pretty similar scenario so it kinda hit home (no telepathy involved, but they do have a pretty rough breakup due to one's unresolved trauma and the other's anxiety and feelings of inadequecy. We love complex characters in this house!)

It's been a while since I listened to Geordi's audios, but I agree with what I remember has come up in them.
Other empowered people can feel the "push" of telepathy and have a way to like block it.
So it wouldn't surprise me if Cutie is so used to that, that it causes them to not think about it even though Geordi isn't empowered.
Another thing that I remember some people having speculated on is the anxiety aspect. Or Cutie having had some trust issue or trauma that makes it hard for them to not "listen in".
Conversation can be hard enough for us with no powers, so listening in to try and "put your own mind at ease" could be a thing that Cutie does.

Part of me wonders if were gonna see reasoning behind the action if we're gonna get to see Cutue with like other friends or a therapist for or two videos. Or if this is gonna be shown in like voice messages or calls to one another.
And the same for Geordi, although more to do with seeing what him being by his sister would be like
That’s how I feel as well. I feel like ppl judge cutie’s actions w/o wondering what their motivation behind it was. Sure breaching boundaries is not cool, but it might be something they’ve never had to acknowledge before. I think it would be nice to get cutie’s perspective and have both sides of the story before making judgments on how their relationship should go.

In this case, this video is a "flashback" about how Geordi (the guy talking in the video) met Cutie (a telepath, and the person listening to Geordi's thoughts and talking to him). This video isn't from the present, tho; a lot of things happened after this meeting

Telepathy is something you turn on more than turn off, Cutie has it on and has a hard time shutting it off despite Geordi telling them not to listen in because of a past relationship leading to trust issues (if I'm not mistaken)
