A great Beatles topic, and well done!
Highlight for me was the footage of Paul, while one of the oldies was being played in the background, hearing a suggestion for the problemmatic concert, and then looking upwards and letting out a big and genuine smile! Thanks for leaving it there! :)
I'm glad they resurrected One After 909 from 1963. To me it's an OK song, but not a highlight of Let it Be. Still, as you point out, it's special that the rooftop concert include one of the early Lennon/McCartney songs, and also one of the 1963 never-released recordings.

I liked the'60 rehearsal version, same tempo as the Let It Be version. The whole '60 rehearsal at Paul's place was pretty good-I had it all on boot Cds.Never heard When Im 64,which was reportedly only on Paul's personal copy.

In an interview George Martin commented that when he first met Leenon/McCartney they told him that they had written over one hundred songs. Martin then stated that he thought all their songs were "rubbish" and he initially did not want to produce them. The only two songs Martin believed were good enough to record were Love Me Do and Please, Please Me and even those had to be completely re-worked. Interestingly, in a 1962 Mersey Beat magazine article, after Ringo had replaced Pete Best on drums, we find this very odd quote, "The Beatles will enter the studio later this year. They will be recording songs that have been specifically written for the band, which they have received from their producer, George Martin." Strange that such highly talented songwriters had to have the songs written for them.

Except he never wrote a single song for them 😂

@@nicholasmaxwell9899 When you say, "he", I'm assuming you meant George Martin? If so, that might be true. However, the article stated that the songs were written for the Beatles and given to them by George Martin. We don't know who wrote them.

@@scottlalexander510 that’s the dumbest conspiracy I’ve ever heard. Check out all of their solo work and then you can see they were great writers all throughout their entire careers.

@@nicholasmaxwell9899 Well, it's not all conspiracy. The interviews and article I referenced in my original post are easily found. Also, in a late 1970's television interview Ringo was asked about the great songs The Beatles had recorded. Ringo responded by saying that the music was so good because of "...all the great writers who contributed the lyrics." Again, strange that Ringo did not say Lennon, McCartney or Harrison, but called them the writers."
For a much deeper dive on this subject I recommend watching Mike Williams’ video, “Did The Beatles Write All Their Own Music.” It’s very well researched and he makes quite a compelling argument.

@@scottlalexander510 Again, all you have to do is listen to all of their solo work. It’s very obvious they were the same writers. Not to mention the fact that secrets like this absolutely do not remain kept. There’s no way Lennon and McCartney get away with being frauds for over 60 years. No offense but you are incredibly, INCREDIBLY, naive.
