I feel like most of the people here missed the fact that she still started the chopper despite his instructions because she realized that Cage was growing attached to her and knew what he is trying to do ( which is save her). She probably did this with her past lover which is why she urged him to just go kill the Omega by jumping into the heli that spells out her death. Also that look of realization as she realizes that Cage had been there plenty of times lol.
Bear with me a moment why I try to articulate a thought about this scene. I'm sure others have thought of this. But it just dawned on me what Rita must have been thinking when she realized Cage was trying to save her. In the Groundhog Day movie, Bill Murray's character spends somewhere around like 30 years in the time loop. I tend to wonder how many years Tom Cruise's character spent in the time loop with each reset and what the total death count was for his character.
According to the director of this film, Tom Cruise's character goes through the entire scenario (before finally winning), Cage dies a disturbing twenty-six times and has he has 160 iterations. One film fan on Stack Exchange noted that he probably experienced this scene/issue about 30-35 times. He has seen her die here dozens of times.

Men like Bruce Willis play action heroes into their 50s
@@spook407 you're mixing up with the Alice character. Btw, I think Jovovich did a good enough job.
In the Groundhog Day movie, Bill Murray's character spends somewhere around like 30 years in the time loop. I tend to wonder how many years Tom Cruise's character spent in the time loop with each reset and what the total death count was for his character.
great movie
According to the director of this film, Tom Cruise's character goes through the entire scenario (before finally winning), Cage dies a disturbing twenty-six times and has he has 160 iterations. One film fan on Stack Exchange noted that he probably experienced this scene/issue about 30-35 times. He has seen her die here dozens of times.
Such a great movie.
This means love!!!
This was a very underrated movie.I thought it was amazing.
Endure the pain. Use it. It teaches you how to be a better person.
How do you use it?
@@M05tlysince you know how it feels you can utilize that pain and make things better so you dont have to feel that way.
Well I think that one can use that pain to do something better for themselves , like utilise that strength or stress into something that is worthy ,
imagine every time she dies, she tells him a secret ...
she dying: it was not two spoon of sugar but three ... x,x
GREAT movie.
when I was told of this movie he said “Dark Souls” and he was right, again and again I come back……
" my middle name.. is Rose ". That crushed me
Excellent movie.
It's like Cruise went back into Jerry Maguire a bit in this scene.
So great there's going to be a sequel 👍
Seriuosly. This Movie is a CULT !!! A unicum in the science fiction, probably will be cinema history.
Best movie imo
Time to watch this movie for the 100th time
Look Marvel, this is the female leading role we need.
Yes, you can make a strong female character without making her a flawless Mary Sue, rolling her eyes at the stupid men around her. She’s strong and skilled but not invincible and egotistical.
i'd give an Oscar to this movie if there was a category for the best alien creature
It'll be a split-win between this and District 9 imho :)
