*********************
Welcome to another video review from All Things Secured. Iâm Josh and my goal is to provide a clear review of NordVPN based on years of using the software, and Iâm going to try to be as unbiased as possible.
Iâm going to show you the desktop & mobile software, explain the various features they offer, compare them to other VPNs on the market and finally share with you my concerns.
In my opinion, NordVPN continues to offer one of the best pieces of VPN software on the market. Itâs incredibly easy to install and is very user-friendly, even for those of you who arenât very tech savvy.
But design only takes you so far. Letâs dive into the various features NordVPN offers.
These kinds of features include, at the time of this recording:
- AES 256-bit encryption;
- Over 5,500 servers spread across 59 countries;
- A VPN Kill Switch
- A Zero-log policy;
- Email & live chat customer support;
- Dedicated apps for desktop, mobile, browsers, smart TVs, routers and more;
- 30-day money back guarantee;
None of the features on this list are special. Any VPN youâre considering should have this.
So what NordVPN features are unique?
- Simultaneous connections: NordVPN currently offers 6 simultaneous connections, which means that you can connect with six different devices at once. The industry standard is between 3-5, so NordVPN comes out on top here.
- Double VPN: For those who want even more security, NordVPN offers the ability to connect through two VPN servers, changing your IP address twice. While there are a few other VPNs that offer this as well, such as Surfshark, itâs not very common.
- P2P and Onion over VPN servers, which if these words donât mean anything to you, that probably means the feature itself wonât be a benefit to you either.
- CyberSec is a combination advertisement and malicious website blocker offered by NordVPN.
- Nordlynx, which is a fancy name for NordVPNâs implementation of the WireGuard protocol. Itâs a protocol that is still under development, but so far, itâs been touted as one of the fastest, most secure VPN protocols available today, even beating out OpenVPN.
The only concern worth pointing out is the issue of trust.
The reason for this is twofold:
First, itâs not entirely clear who owns and runs NordVPN. I mean, itâs based in Panama and owned by a company called Tefincom S.A., but thatâs about all we know. This is a red flag for me personally since whatâs basically happening here is weâre securing our data by routing it through the servers of an unknown entity.
To be fair, this same accusation can be made against most popular VPNs. With few exceptions, such as VyprVPN or IPVanish, most VPN companies tend to be extremely vague about their ownership.
The second concern in regards to trust has to do with a security breach that happened on a server NordVPN was leasing back in early 2018. As you can imagine, a security company being hacked garnered a lot of press.
Based on my research, however, itâs ironic that this security breach concerns me less than the opaque ownership. The reason is that not only did this breach not compromise any user privacy, it also resulted in numerous internal and external audits on the NordVPN servers that have probably made it one of the more reliably secure VPN server networks you can use.
So whatâs my final verdict on NordVPN?
Itâs an amazing piece of software that ticks all the right boxes in terms of features you expect to have with a VPN. As far as security is concerned, NordVPN is ahead of the competition in its adoption of new protocols like WireGuard as well as the way it has gone about auditing its server network and security protocols.
My only concern, and itâs the same one that can be leveled against many other VPNs today, is that I have no idea who runs NordVPN and what kind of accountability they have.
When it comes to your data security and online privacy, youâre caught between trusting the devil you know versus the one you donât.

@@merlin2010 is he??
@@merlin2010 so hard to find a really good VPN not own by China. Damn:((
@@ikust007 he's an affiliate, so anyone who downloads it from his link is getting him kick back from the company. Try surfshark, good encryption, no logging, it's a good VPN all around
Thank you ! You did a great job simplifying such a complex daw....Looking forward to be a great producer
I signed up for NordLocker for a year but found that I didn't use it much so 2 weeks before it expired, I cancelled the renewal. Nord pulled out clause buried within their T&Cs saying they could take the next year's payment 2 weeks before the existing contract expired. I challenged this given they took payment on the day I cancelled but they refused to refund the payment. I had been considering subscribing to NordVPN but because the Nord helpdesk insisted on nickle & diming me I lost any trust I had with the company. No trust - no business.
Sorry you had a bad experience.
That's not nickel and dimeing you, that's shady af
Wonderful tutorial, everything is very detailed, thanks bro
BROTHER, YOU ARE THE BEST!!! You oooh really helped me!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!This is cool, well done!
For my personal devices I use McAfee VPN my company seems to be in love with the Norton's Semantics which do you think is better to me look very similar.
What a great video, helps A LOT in the beginning.
Hey, thank you very much for the review. How do you add electric app to the tracks? (Real electric app)
you record with hardware outside of the program. Great tutorial btw it was very detailed but still just right for beginners.
hi !! 1-) when the vpn random disconect with wireguard what can cause it ? another question 2-) why download speed is limited under 500 Mbps on auto protocoll with the vpn service ?
Thanks for the review. I live in Russia and our situation develops in such a way that one will soon have to choose one of the paid services of VPN in order not to stay without CZcams and some other web sites (like facebook, twitter etc) that can be restricted by the authorities of the country.
Yea, it was the same way when I was living in China. Best of luck!
NORD VPN provides free VPN for countries with problematic government that goes against free speech such as china. Perhaps you could contact Nord via email and check with your situation applies in case of Russia actually blocking everything. Best of luck
If I understand it correctly, when I download linux ISO's with my favorite torrent tracker, NordVPN prevents my ISP from seeing my torrent traffic. They know I'm connected to a VPN server but they cannot see what the VPN server is connected to on the other side.
Thanku for easing it out with extremely simplified explanation on the NordVPN topic ... đđ
Great video as always!
I tried different providers in the past, but when it came down to buying one, I've chosen Nord. The speeds are just as good as they say and when connecting to any of the servers, there isnât any reduction in internet speed, this is the best vpn I've tried.
Glad to hear itâs been good for you, Guido!
We are 100% committed to our zero-logs policy - to ensure usersâ ultimate privacy and security, we never log their activity unless ordered by a court in an appropriate, legal way". Nordvpn is garbage, if goverment wants info Nordvpn gives them.
Sweet tutorial fam !
Thank you man for sharing this stuff
Hey I didn't hear you talk about the obfuscated servers, they make a pretty big deal about how its advanced and lets people from countries like China and Iran uncensor their internet. Can you tell me bit about this function or your experiences with it?
Yea, that feature is only useful in a select few parts of the world (China, Saudi Arabia, etc.). In my experience, they work more often than regular servers, but even obfuscated servers get blocked in China. You still have to have a lot of patience!
Just started using NordVPN, I have noticed that w/o VPN my internet speed is 500 Mbps, with the NordVPN the speed is now about 50 to 55 Mbps. Is that normal?? Are their configuration changes that can increase the speed?
What router would you recommend to use with Nordvpn? All the compatible ones Iâve looked at have some bad reviews
I really like my ASUS router.
Great tool tips. Thank you.
I am a physician in private practice running MacPractice, a macOS based software (just upgraded to Catalina). The medical software I use has a server app and and a client app. The server app resides on the server computer in the office and the various work stations in the office connect to the server database through the client app. My question is, can I use NordVPN (or any other VPN service) to connect remotely (e.g from home or a hotel) to connect my client app on my to the server app in the office? I can seem to find how to do this on the NordVPN site or the Express VPN site for that matter. (MacPractice does not recommend any VPN services or protocols.)
While what you're referring to is technically a "virtual private network", it's not the same as the commercial versions such as ExpressVPN or NordVPN. You're going to need to set up your own VPN that connects you directly to your office. There are plenty of solutions for this, including ones from Cisco and other IT companies.
@@AllThingsSecuredThanks for your reply. For now, I have found that Splashtop allows me to connect to the server at work and access the database.
Nice tutorial.... Very helpful
I tested NordVPN, then when I tried to cancel and saw the ridiculous hoops NordVPN made me go through to cancel, I knew I would never use NordVPN again.
So you don't like NordVPN not because of their private network service but for their refund service. Seems logical.
On the heels of the breech, I had no problem getting NordVPN to cancel my subscription and provide a partial refund. I think they were pretty embarrassed about their executives choosing to sit on the security breech for weeks and weeks. However, I had an exceptionally difficult time cancelling ExpressVPN. I tried to cancel on their website, but it wouldnât accept the cancellation. It was only after thirty minutes of torture with a CSR via chat, that I was able to confirm that my subscription would not auto renew. Iâve switched to IVPN and couldnât be happier.
Can I watch sports on xfinity from my home town accross the country?
I have zero knowledge about vpn but your video helps out alot.what vpn would you suggest and can i put NordVPN on my router ,so everything in house is covered?
Thanks! NordVPN works on most routers, so that way you don't have to purchase an additional one. There are many others, though.
I needed more info on that onion vpn and how it works
What is difference between soft12 and soft20??
Wonder why Google does not offer a VPN for banking ?
Hi Josh. My knowledge about VPN is zero and I need help. I'm specifically looking for a VPN that hides my IP on internet. I am from USA and I live in ASIA as of now. thanks
NordVPN will do it for you!
@@AllThingsSecured thank you so much for reply. it was very kind of you
I tried several VPN's overseas and all of then NordVpn, expressvpn etc had one serious issue the speed would drop from 40mps download to 4mps download and I spend all my time configuring the servers is this still the case. My best solution was a router that acted as a vpn server in one of my offices in US that I totally controlled. Unfortunately these router's apparently are hard to find do you know of any? Thanks
Hey Jack, I completely understand the speed issues - I've had my fair share of frustration as well. The only comfort I had was the fact that I had over 10 active VPN subscriptions and when one of them was slow, all of them were slow. I had concluded that in most cases, it wasn't always a server issue as it might be an issue with how my international ISP or even the country I was living in was trying to limit VPN activity.
A lot of the new connections, such as the NordLynx protocol I talk about here, tend to fix some of these problems, so that might be worth a try. I'm not a big fan of using a VPN on a router since it's not as convenient to configure.
Look into ASUS routers; especially the ones that support Merlin firmware (if they do, they'll support router-based VPN). You can also set policies to decide exceptions, or prioritize packets for gaming, etc.
Which is best for downloading pirated movies?
1:43 Why did you skip to expo the Dedicated IP mode? You donât understand that at all?
what a hearty video for all beginners!
I just bought it and the only protocol is UDC and TCP. It says it's updated and using 5.11.0. Why?
The protocols available depend on which kind of platform (i.e. device) that you're using. UDC and TCP are different version of the OpenVPN protocol, which are both secure and reliable, so you shouldn't have a problem using them. Try installing the software on another device, though, and see if you can get access to NordLynx as an option.
I have not used a VPN. I am worried that I will try one, figure it out and decide I really DON'T need it. (Or I don't want to deal with the complications) My home internet connection speed is good but not VERY good. Etc., Etc., I am curious but I have a nagging hesitation.
It seems that for remote access a feature like nordvpn is needed. Does expressvpn and surfshark have this kind of feature?
Corporate remote access should be done via a proprietary VPN service, not a commercial one.
ADOREI O VIDEO !!! VOU RECOMENDAR PARA MEUS AMIGOS !!

There is something in game named ipban the bans your ipaddress from the game and it willbe impossible to enter so does vpn allows the ipbanned to get unbanned using another ipaddress?
Yes, that should work, but be sure to use a VPN with a money back guarantee if it doesnât.

Absolutely!!
Much appreciation.

How do you feel about free vpns?
Hi...Do they keep traffic logs on users?
They say that they donât, but as with all VPNs, there is no way to independently verify.
On PC you can easily disable the Kill Switch.
Gotcha. Thanks for sharing.
Damn! You have a very cool voice.
is nordvpn good to work in the u.s as custumer service ???
Itâs been fine for me.
Do you have a preference between NordVPN and ExpressVPN?
Personally I prefer ExpressVPN, but I donât have a great reason for that.
Can apple tv3 use Nord VPN?
Unless you add NordVPN to your WiFi router, there is no other way to use the service with Apple TV unfortunately.

Waste of money
PROTON VPN OR TOR
Also too small to know the difference between 'too' and 'to'
I saw on their page they now are the fastest out there even express.
now will it work with an online phone?
Yes, it is mobile phone compatible.
yee
Tried them for few days, pings weren't there so asked for refund. Promised that and 2 days later they charged me again and still no refund.
Sorry you had a bad experience.
Got a notebook and took notes... Iâm making it out the hood
How accurate is this nowadays? Does this review hold up or have things changed?
Hey it depends on what your looking for in a VPN, NordVPN being popular has led it a lot of websites/apps detecting it now as a heads up. It does offer a significant amount of servers with good speeds compared to others but if your looking for anonymity there is way better options. Or if your trying to factor in price there is also better options for that that work just as well
â@@WhoTookNeverBleachbut people are complaining about it in play store
Lol. 3-5 connection is industry standardđ€Ł
Iâve only ever used Surfshark (unlimited devices) and Proton (10 devices). Was I just really lucky or is 3-5 actually standardđ„Ž
The standard is changing, possibly, but Iâd say 5 is still average.
hola!!!!!! perdon pero esto tmb
Ask NordVPN why its Android application needs so many permissions to run? The Android application of the VPN I use asks for and needs no permissions. Also, AirVPN does no advertising, owns no "review" websites, pays no "influencers" ... oh, and so much more.
Hey,
I agree 100 percent
Thanks, Fenix!
i have nord but all the suddun double vpn and onion over vpn isnt there
If you don't see double VPN or onion over VPN, you need to go into the settings and change the VPN protocol to "OpenVPN". Once you do that, all the other server options will show up for you. I hope that helps!
All Things Secured ohhhh ok

Thatâs peculiar: In the previous video (which I just finished watching), you said youâve been using ExpressVPN for the past few years. So, which is it? ExpressVPN or NordVPN? Itâs a bit difficult to accept your advice as credible when you contradict yourself like this.
You have to understand something: Iâve lived in China for many years and used multiple VPNs concurrently since my business is my livelihood and it was a risk to lose access to uncensored internet. So when I say that Iâve been using both ExpressVPN and NordVPN, Iâm not lying.
Obviously I canât force you to believe me, but ten years in China will teach you a thing or two about VPNs.
Be quiet Karen.
@@AllThingsSecuredThanks for your sharing. đSo on your experience, Nordvpn & Expressvpn, which one works better in china? Thanks!!
Itâs owned by tesonet that is a data Minning company
I've read a lot of conflicting data about Tesonet. And the term "data mining" doesn't mean much to me at this point - pretty much every tech company nowadays does some sort of data mining. Again...it all boils down to trust.
All Things Secured itâs not trust worthy at all when you put does two things toghter
@@benjotest5990 I respect that decision! So my next question is this: is there a VPN company that you do trust with your data? And if so, what makes them any different?
Afaik, NordVPN has been tested numerous times by a lot of peeps and proven not to collect any user data, disproving data mining theories
All Things Secured i trust Windscribe, mullvad,WeVPN those are my top 3 i trust with my data. The reason why i trust those they are really transparent Companys Also i Think you should review WeVPN itâs in bvi really transparent good for unblocking example Netflix itâs only 5 dollars Per month 17 dollars Per 6 month or 30 dollars a year i Think you would really enjoy Them đ please review Them. And thanks for listening to me. Btw they are a new vpn like 1 year Old so please dont be to harsh ahhaha.

*NordVPN does not work in China*
I bought into the hype and got Nordvpn to use in china 3 years ago and it was USELESS!
Sa here...lol
wow dude i love u
calling it rn im the next aries.
Express VPN is the best
ok Iâll try that lol
Be wary if you are using Nord VPN on a MAC with M1 chip and monterey operating system. This VPN significantly slowed down my connection. After the OS update, it stopped working outright. Simply put, because I am over the 30-guaranteed period, there will be no reimbursement. Policy is policy they say. That doesnât make it right in my book. SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE, go with a different VPN. Horrible service, destroys your internet connection, brutal customer service who will just drag you through the mud, no reimbursement of funds beyond the first 30 days after purchase. Bad product, not recommended."
Thanks for the heads up, Roderick.
Hello, have you noticed any change in the speeds?
