I tie a knot with the ends under the on back to keep it on. As the the lint remover- I got the exact same one. You slide the lint collection section off to put the batteries. It works really well to remove all the “pilling/balls” you get from polyester shirts etc.
I agree customs should be more careful and respectful with peoples stuff. The question for them is how would you feel if your things were messed up because of customs. They should be properly trained to treat things as if their own
