THE HISTORY OF DELVAUX (The Belgian Hermès?)

- There are thousands of videos about luxury handbags, especially about Chanel or Hermès. And what do most of them have in common? They are based in the major fashion hubs such as Paris. But in this video, we travel to a city which is not necessarily famous for fashion - we travel to Brussels and discuss the history of Delvaux - a luxury house which has been around for almost 200 years. Some even call it the Belgian equivalent of Hermès. You will see a lot of similarities to the history of the French houses, as Delvaux similarly benefited from a new age - the industrialization in Europe and the beginning travel boom. It is a brand which is not as known as some of the other luxury houses from France but that does not mean its history is less interesting, especially when it comes to female leaders driving its success.

Thank you! Actually right after I finished the video, I had a response from them and we are currently in the process of online assessment if it can be repaired. If they can, I will definitely film a video.

Thank you for this very informative video. I own three Delvaux all in the Toile Del Cuir range. They are beautifully made and certainly very unique. I appreciate that this range has been designed by a lady so as living i can certainly see that alot of thought has been put into good designing.
Thanks for your comment and your views on the bags. As an owner of the bags, would you say that they come up to the quality of the better known brands? (Or do you think they are even better?)
@@PinkLookbook Hello Liz, definitely on par if not more than some of brands. I knew that quality isn't an issue, if something is already 30 yrs old and still can be used today with no problems then it really comes down to the fashion sense of it. There is no holes in the lining -which is a very thick microfibre....I am not sure if it is suede ( i should ask my reseller) These bags I bought from a small but well known Vintage Delvaux seller. These bags have an authentication cert from Delvaux themselves and have been to the spa prior to being sold. As for fashion, I love these unique quirky things and I never like to be like everyone else, but then maybe I am being a sour grape becuase I can't afford the other popular brands hahahah. I am enjoying your other videos too like the canvas of LV....and will look at Pelagona too. Keep up the good work.

Another fascinating video. I don't own a Delvaux bag but I would love to hear what happens to your vintage bag. Richemont certainly has an impressive portfolio of subsidiary companies. The FY24 Annual Results Presentation makes for interesting reading. My father advised me to train as an accountant so that I had something to fall back on inbetween theatre gigs when I needed alternative work. It was wise advice ☺

Thanks! It is a bit difficult to say because there is not much data but I would assume that they are still strong in Belgium and judging from their store presence, I guess China. Looking at their socials, I think Richemont is currently implementing new strategies, so maybe we will see changes in store presence/markets
