@@ananyapandey1404it’s actually pretty interesting, I haven’t quite finished watching but it seems to be about meritocracy; the idea that in a capitalist society, anyone can ascend into wealth on the basis of their merits. Consequently, poverty is a result of a lack of merits. Marxism has an especially heavy focus on class and the concept of a society that has moved beyond the capitalism and into an entirely new, solely socialistic economic system- just like how feudalism was replaced by capitalism. The method for this replacement is a massive revolution, the collective and much larger proletariat (working class) overthrowing the smaller bourgeoisie (owning class).
Although the rejection (or at least critique) of the concept of meritocracy is undeniably compatible with Marxism, this isn’t a story about Marxism. I’d argue the player walking past the statue of Marx represents a rejection of a possible solution, one that would require abandoning this struggle inside of capitalism in favor of a rejection and attempt to destroy the whole thing. Give up on the selfish struggle of escape for oneself, and work with others to engage in a new, harder struggle that might free you all.

25:50 "Favela" is the (Brazilian) Portuguese word for a slum/shanty town. This game takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (you'll even find the Christ the Redeemer statue eventually, which confirms you are in Rio).
I saw that wall separating the slums from the sky scrapers and immediately thought "Oh, it's Brazil".

Kinda mirroring how hard it is to leave poverty - that it was intended for people to be able to leave poverty and the favelas, but the way out has been broken
What i love about these kinds of GTNotLive is the way the conversation always changes. In the beginning, we have more contemplation and thoughtful conversations, like a lengthened version of the Witty Banter. Then, as RagePate energes feom his slumber, the conversation evolves (or devolves) from there! I love witty banter heavy episodes, so these seem like a good comprimise, where he IS playing but we still get the same chill, interesting talks that somehow still can sometimes catch me off guard topically, without feeling out of place! Thanks for peppering these kinda of videos into the release lineup Theorist Crew!!! And you too MatPat, obviously!

You should play the game Killer Frequency. You play as a radio host and have to help people calling in to escape a killer on the loose. It's kinda similar to Do you copy?, but a bit longer and more exploration. It's very fun!

I love how his story about Dolly Partons amazing program to give kids free books is interrupted by the game’s part about the girl being abused and how she wished her dad would die at work.
When Matt was talking about how the fear of tetanus from rusty nails was worse as a kid, it reminded me of my dads experience with it. He stepped on a rusty nail as a kid and it went straight through his foot, he said the amount of shots he had to get was extremely horrible

i feel like graffiti has 2 definitions:
1) A collection of art styles with street art origins
2) Art made on buildings or structures where it's illegal to do so

I did a college project on graffiti (currently on my page actually), the main difference between ‘street art’ and ‘graffiti’ is legality/consent/payment! street art has always been inspired by graffiti (which has a rich cultural/stylistic history)

I have such mixed feelings towards this game. On one hand it is one of the most shoddily made, slapped together piece of garbage games full of stolen assets I've ever seen. On the other hand the speedrun is so incredibly cool.
Also, the lore is NFTs.

They got briefly taken down steam because only up is full of stolen assets. Also, they have lots of assets from goblin town, a new nft, nobody cares about. The only up devs said that they have no connections to goblin town while goblintown, on the other hand, said that they were doing an official only up govlin town cross over.

Hi Mat, or editors, or whoever reads the comment section! So recently Chapter One of JokerNoob's Now Hiring got released on GameJolt! I had the honour of voicing the Marionette and I also played through five nights and it is AMAZING. So much love was poured into the project and its really paid off, its so unique and clever, and honestly I was just constantly on edge 🤣 I think you guys would really like it as well, since there is also plenty of LOREEEEEEE, some given and some you piece together. It really is fun, and it's super cinematic as well which is super rare for fnaf games. I really reccomend it!!
I think this game is a universe where the Tower of Babel happened and succeeded but some people couldn't afford to travel and get there or just didn't want to so the character your playing as is finally deciding to make the treacherous journey to see God.
I love a chill game you can look for lore at your own pace and just jump slowly without the impending doom of something trying to crush you.

For MatPat, we (artists) differentiate by labeling art as "street" or "public." At least, that is how I learned in the USA. Street Art is illegal, while Public Art is legal (and typically funded by someone/the city). Graffiti is a style of art that can be used in both, but most commonly associated with Street Art. My painting professor grilled that into me since he's a public artist lol.
