HOW TO CUT GLASS FOR TABLETOP

How to cut thick glass.
In this video, I show you how to cut glass to whatever size you need.
First, I bought an inexpensive glass scorer that came as a kit with multiple scorers and cutting oil all for less than $15.
Steps:
1. Clean the glass and mark where to cut.
2. Use double sided tape to help keep the straight edge in place.
3. Hold the scorer as you would hold a pencil and push down with even pressure. (I don’t have a lot of strength in my hands and fingers, so I had to push down as hard as I could.)
4. Use the ball at the end of the scorer to tap the back/bottom of the glass along the score line IF glass piece being cut off is narrow or if the glass thickness is 3/16 inch or more. When you tap, it causes the glass to internally split along the score line down from the top surface, where it’s scored, to the bottom surface underneath, and you can see this internal crack developing as you tap if you look closely. Now there is a downside to tapping, which is that when you split the glass by tapping, the top surface that is scored will get broken in a straight line, but the break on the bottom side will follow the score line somewhat but not break off in a straight line, so the break might not be clean.
5. Put a piece of molding or dowel underneath the score line at the edge to help break off the glass.
6. Put on some gloves and put a layer of fabric over the glass just in case glass flies off.
7. Press down on both sides of the dowel at the edge of glass.
8. If the break wasn’t clean, trim down the protruding parts with a tile nipper and/or a Dremel with a diamond tile cutting wheel. Wet the glass if possible to keep glass dust to a minimum.
