- Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia does not need to use nuclear weapons to secure a victory in Ukraine. Putin made the statement at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 7. Sergei Karaganov, an influential Russian analyst, has asked Putin if Russia should hold a "nuclear pistol to the temple" of the West over Ukraine. Karaganov is a hawkish Russian foreign policy expert who had called for a pre-emptive nuclear strike in 2023. Meanwhile, Washington is considering increasing the number of its atomic warheads in the coming years given the international situation. Watch the video to find out more.
