The Adversary needs to be combined with some elements from Hate and more technicality from Infinite Death for that perfect sound.

however Infinite Death were in a more brutal deathcore sound as the Hate and Holy War have the basic death core sound
but The Adversary was a true improvement in my personal opinion from Infinite Death , the only album where they actually sound like death metal with some black metal influences

+peepeerogers This doesn't sound like death metal at all, actually I might choose this as one of the most "pure" death core albums, tons of chugging, quick technical cords, low growls, highs, gutturals, breakdowns etc this record exemplifies what DC truly is and this specifically would be a great song to introduce someone into the genre as it has all the elements.
Hate still works as well, just, so many boring mids.
+Marksman 5147 barely breakdowns in this album. I wouldn't necessarily show someone new to the genre. no I have to go classic and real for that , you're right since they did evolve from Infinite Death but its main the reason why they kicked out Brendan cause they were going for a Brutal Death/Deathcore feel so yes its some ways still sounds like death metal to me.

simkenheights I loved that they actually sounded unique on this album, of course you can hear Decapitated inspired riffing, but there was tons of variation on this and every song sounded different than the other, I gave hate 2.0 (Holy War) a recent listen and sure they actually had the decency to go back to their old sound a bit, which was nice. Every song sounded the exact same, and its not unique, its just monotony. Doesnt impress, its boring, I mean any band can do better than them (even Make Them Suffer, which isnt saying much I guess...) I just dont get the hype that came with Hate and Holy War. There is literally nothing special. The drumming died down into a talentless muck and the riffs are just mindblowingly generic, minus some of the cool techy areas on Holy War. Everything just blends in too much.
It makes me wonder if they just wanted to appeal to the hardcore brutal kids. At least Carnifex stopped doing that.

He's obviously just trolling, but I agree with your statement about how clean vocals would sound awful here. Clean singing works with stuff similar to this, but it has to be placed properly, and their singing voices need to sound much more specific to mesh with metal. Otherwise you have a band like periphery; awesome band I could totally be a fan of, but that gay ass singing kills the whole thing for me. Can't even listen to them.
