Like Dreamer/ライクドリーマー (v1.01) - Maniac Trial ALL+ Clear (Yuri ABAA, 2-4-6 Route)

  • LikeDreamer is Outside_Danmaku's newest cute-em-up, a spiritual successor/sequel to CosmoDreamer. I've been excited for this game ever since I played the demo a few months ago and the full version lived up to my expectations! It skillfully combines the creativity of Touhou boss fights and the fast-paced stage design of other shmups like Ketsui and Dodonpachi, creating an all-around fun shoot-em-up experience.
    This is a clear of the game's regular 5-stage Trial Tour, including the hidden TLB stage. For the Shield+ upgrade (the fourth slot in shottype selection), you need to beat Trial with 6 hits or less (read: lives lost & shields broken). I also have a clear of the full 8-stage Trial, but I didn't upload it because it doesn't reach the TLB.
    Yuri is a pretty good high-power & high-speed character overall, except her homing... sucks. It's a common trait of these games that irritates me a bit - the homing shots can't turn more than 45-75 degrees to hit enemies which is a bit disappointing. It's a small grip nevertheless, considering how there aren't that many enemies whose movements/patterns necessitate a homing shot in the first place.

    I'm pretty glad they changed the dialogue in this game, a lot of these lines are just poorly translated

      Edit: OK but see, the thing is: after playing for longer, I noticed that the homing shots, particularly Alice's unfocused homing, _can_ turn around more than 90 degrees! It's just that they take way too long to turn that much, and combined with their fast speed they won't be able to actually home into many far-away enemies.
      I'm fine with Yuri's homing acting like that since she's not supposed to be a character specializing in high-range shots, but Alice's homing/lock-on is kinda funny yeah
