- Mackenzie Davis has been a favorite for a good while now, but it’s especially exciting to see her filmography continue to grow with such a wide variety of projects, working with some of the most striking voices in the industry. Now that resume grows with HBO Max’s extremely stirring adaption of Emily St. John Mandel’s novel, Station Eleven, from showrunner Patrick Somerville with episodes directed by Hiro Murai, Jeremy Podeswa, Helen Shaver and Lucy Tcherniak.
The story begins with the world on the cusp of a significant flu outbreak. The pandemic devastates civilization, completely obliterating the technology we rely on and our way of life in general. Twenty years in the future, Davis’ character, Kirsten, is part of the Traveling Symphony, a group of actors and musicians who travel the region performing Shakespeare for various communities. Even though the group seems to have found great purpose in this new world, an unexpected encounter challenges them to reconsider what to hold onto from the path and how best to create a new future.
With Station Eleven in the midst of its rollout on HBO Max, Davis joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to talk about the mini-series and also to revisit the path she took to get there. Hear all about Davis' experience booking Drake Doremus' Breathe In, working with Ridley Scott on The Martian, making Station Eleven and so much more in this video!

So I was wondering if Mackenzie would make a great Jean Grey or not, and I thought She looks young for a....24, 25 year old? Then thinking how a studio won't hire a Woman after a certain age, and I am guessing Marvel would want a 18-19 year old to play Jean Grey and have the role for a decade or two....then on IMDb I read Mackenzie turns 35 years April 1st....so...could Mackenzie play a 18-19 year old Jean Grey?
*_YES!_*
Station Eleven is a masterpiece and im looking forward to seeing more of the upcoming episodes, big fan of Mackenzie Davis here I think she's beautiful and so is her personality I love to watch her talking about things on these interviews. Thanks for sharing this
It's a decent show. Certainly better than most things out there. The term masterpiece has so little value these days since it's thrown around so casually and is usually just a placeholder for something someone really liked as in your comment.
A genuis no question!
Why do I feel so incredibly fortunate to be one of the 54 people that love station eleven?
Station eleven is unique!! What a wonderful series , well acted...and mackenzie as excellent as ever!!! That girl Rocks👌👌👌
She was wonderful in Station Eleven. Really a powerful, moving performance. Convincingly both caring, lethal, with an aspect of naivety from having to leave her childhood too soon. Which I imagine was a difficult mix to pull off.
I love the way mackenzie talks, she looks like someone with a lot of insight. But I also wanna mention that I am impressed with the interviewer, those questions are really good.
She was the best thing in that Terminator movie and, to me, that short hairstyle really accentuated her beauty.
Amazing interview!! So fun, I love her and love her work, every single character that she done is so amazing!!
Been a fan since Black Mirror. People hated Fate but I loved it and she stole the show on this one in my humble opinion.
Mackenzie is such a talented actress. ❤️ I'm so in love with all of her characters. 👏 Also.... This questions are exquisite!! 👌 Amazing interviewer!! 👏👏
Station eleven is amazing. I hope it becomes popular .she was so good in it
More Mackenzie Davis interviews & longer please ❤️
Once again great interview thanks
Mackenzie Davis is so Adorable 😍😍😍
You're wonderful, Mackenzie. Be my friend
Thank you, love Mackenzie 💓
I love u Mackenzie
I love both these women so much
Mackenzie is just awesome! She is the best about Terminator Dark Fate.
Such a lovely ,talented young woman. BTW: i knew she would pick KStew as one of her co-stars. they certainly do like each. Kristen has mentioned that she loved having M D as a co-star in The Happiest Season & that she would like more of that
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful is true
She was excellent in this picture and i think she is strong in this character
This show is being soooo slept on. I hope it gets at least 3-4 seasons.
She look like Evan rachel wood actress in westworld show
Big time!
She's a Versatile Actress 💙
OMG! Mack so Cute 😍
Fun fact, Toby Huss is the voice of Kahn in King of the Hill
At 10:53 I don't think she's talking about Dark Fate I think she's talking about the Turning which came out the around the same time because in all her interviews she always talks highly about Dar Fate even though it didn't do to well, what do u think?
She seems to get it. She gets everything.
no matter how much Terminator Dark Fate sucked she was awesome
SO COOL
I'm sitting here wishing the timing had worked out better because here she is; she IS older Ellie from TLOU2.
💜
11:38 “ stational Evan. “
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@10:05 talking about the movie tully and director jason reitman ?
I was thinking about what she said... But I don't think it was about Tully, because actually she had a great time with them... 🤔 Maybe 'What If' or 'Akward moment'. I'm still confused and wanting to know what movie is she referring to.
Maybe The Turning? it turned out a little cheesy
@@granolasoos mmm maybe right?
Ok it was happiest season, look up the interview "Happiest Season Ending: Even Mackenzie Davis Thinks Harper “Sucks"" 😢
@@granolasoos mmm no, I don't think so. She said she loved working with Clea Duvall
i wish the show was just about the indian dude and the little girl surviving after the outbreak. I tune out when it flashes to the traveling symphony.
that would be difficult to create a strong story for, but if they pulled it off i could see that as being a cool alternate path
Totally agree. Hardened, twisted, grown Kirsten played by such an egotist is such a bore with nothing new to discover. She shuts down the entire story. If not for the flashbacks to young Kirsten, I couldn’t have watched the filler that ensued. You can tell when this actress is portraying an emotion, but every emotion looks the same with her. She has no range. And she is so full of herself that she doesn’t care that she has no range. And she then just forces her rangelessness onto her audience.
@@lexz3257 honestly, i dont know why she gets so many amazing gigs.
She is one of the those actors who suffers from perfect face, so it kinda makes look too conventional good looking where she becomes not distinctive and you have trouble buying her playing more down to earth characters because she is just too good looking. Morena Baccarin has exactly the same problem of being too pretty to play a normal person. That is why Davis two best roles she has been playing robots because you can buy that person would design a robot that looked like her.
Any intellectual would love this series, it is a master piece. Well thought through & extremely creative. Though the mispronunciation of the name Kirsten is annoying. It's pronounced Kirsten,( as in Kersten) NOT Kearsten. Americans screw up a lot of things, this ones another big one. The name Kirsten is hundreds of years old, been around long before 1492, welcome to the world America, stop trying to reinvent the wheel.
Nice! Yeah they call her “Kearstin” like the American Girl Doll.
It's almost like language is diverse and things are pronounced differently in different accents.
she's the female Dexter, way too interested in dissolving dead things
I kinda get the feeling that she still feels disappointed with the reception of Terminator Dark Fate. Just my guess.
I thought she did great in Dark Fate. Not gonna lie, she was the sole reason I even watched it in the first place. Been following her work since San Junipero.
