  • The original 1940's film from Von Duprin, converted from its 16mm original format. By 1952, it had been shown in more than 500 cities across the US, in coordination with fire marshals, schools, and plant safety directors. The film was offered as a public service in the interest of safety, and is not a product story, or an advertisement. Von Duprin had multiple reels of this film that it shipped, for free, to anywhere in the country, on request. It's hard to imagine being in a building today where you couldn't easily escape through the doors in an emergency. This film, while perhaps a bit dated, does an outstanding job at capturing the emotional state of a panic, and makes practical observations on opening design and function in the interest of life safety.
Special thanks to Mary Gaskill for preserving the original 16mm reels until we could re-discover their importance.

Very interesting movie! Thanks to the U.S.A. Today, panic exit devices have spread almost all over the world. In Europe, the first panic exit devices were created in Italy in 1986 under the CISA brand. To Mr. Michelangelo Maltoni of CISA. Leader in Europe for the production of panic exit devices and various locks. Immediately afterwards, in the late 1980s, France and U.K. Also began to use panic bars. In Italy since 2004 and in France in all public places that can accommodate more than 25 people it is mandatory to install panic bars. Even today, in many other countries in Europe there is a shortage of panic bars in public places, they are installed only in shopping malls or large sports centers.

    Vintage federal signal alarm
And 1 bulb is not enough for a emergency light. There is generic exit signs and emergency light. Or a dual lite or sure lights.

The outside of a door needs to be secured the inside needs to be safe.
safety & Security conflict with each other.
Commercial EXIT doors can only have one lock.
