- Renee Fleming and The Tabernacle Choir present Mack Wilberg's arrangement of "Angels, from the Realms of Glory" for an annual Christmas special of Music and the Spoken Word.
Episode 3981. Aired December 11, 2005 - Hudba
Her voice is not merely heard
It is seen and felt
ohhhhhh this woman is so bold and so strong in her voice. that was a beautiful performance, thumbs up for the music conductor too, he was flowing with the beautiful melody
Watching the conductor alone puts a smile on my face :)
“I’m ever and always a stranger to grace.I need this annual angel visitation... to know the virgin conceives and God is with us.” - Eugene H. Peterson
If you're listening to this lovely version, wondering if there is a Jesus- He is real. He is complete, tender love and He wants to know you. Look for Him and you'll easily find Him.
Renee Fleming is a Goddess.
chills.... tears... joy... exultation.... more chills and more tears... GLORIOUS!
Wonderful song. Beautiful singer. Amazing choir. Great conductor.
This completely stirs my soul in every way! I love how she continues to hold that last note like it's just nothing. In Excelsis Deo!
Hallelujah! Great job by soloist, choir, orchestra, conductor! This really shows what a great combination and joining of forces this was/is. Renee Fleming sounds absolutely wonderful as usual, as does the choir and orchestra. The conductor seems to be thrilled and having the time of his life especially at 3:33 & 4:06. And Mrs. Fleming on that last note is just incomparable! O to hear the angels in Heaven! To God Be The Glory!
I don't know what it is about this particular version, but every time I hear this I seem to cry uncontrollably. It's so beautiful, so fabulous...unsure who this was arranged by, but I am grateful to them.
Mack Wilburg arranged this. We sang it in concert choir at BYU before he went to the Tabernacle Choir. One my all time favorites.
Absolutely a Wilberg winner arrangement again!
This is so,so beautiful! Renee is truly a gift from God!!
The choir has several performances of this arrangement on CZcams with different soloists, such as Brian Stokes Mitchell. All are wonderful, but no other soloist is as transcendent as Renee Fleming. For one thing, she's not afraid of the high note at the end!
Have you heard Sissel's performance?
Neither was Alfie Boe. His amazing tenor also soared on the final note. Incidentally, he and Renee duetted on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for Queen Elizabeth's birthday in 2012.
renee flemming is another one of my favorate singers god how she do it i wish i could sing like this shes bless with a voice too. amen
Simply beautiful - thank you to all involved.
such a heavenly voice
If this didn't get God to finally return I'm not sure what will.
A home run with the basses loaded in the bottom of the ninth to win the World Series!
Very awesome performance!
I first came across Renee Fleming some years ago when she sang with Bryn Terfel at a Welsh concert

As much as I hate the mormon faith, and as much as I disapprove of religion in general, as well as it's pervasive presence in music, this is absolutely breathtaking. Bravo Renee, and bravo to the choir as well. Absolutely beautiful!
+John Doe Lol you're a true fan.
I don't think so. You truly love music and make an effort to be as unbiased as possible. Kudos2U
***** Only an idiot refuses to be open and honest in his review of the world. I am as open minded as I can be while still maintaining my morals. "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." Aristotle
Dear John Doe. Without God, there would be no music.
I love solo Renee. She doesn't do well accompanying this magnificent choir. She just drowns out the choir where they shine best at the last chorus.
What are the best Tabernacle songs that feature female vocals?
Actually, that's a different carol, though this variation borrows the melody and chorus from that one. "Realms of Glory" was written by James Montgomery, and "Heard on High" is a translation of a traditional French carol of unknown origin.
The arrangement is inflation at its worst and reminds me of Milton's line about God preferring "before all temples the upright heart and pure" - which this is NOT. BUT Renee Fleming transcends all this with a voice of Miltonic beauty and power. She really has a shining tone with height, depth and breadth. Glorious.
Magisch
There is an exact version of this WIHTOUT her, and it is better.
CHIIIIIIILLS.
I can't speak for others but for my musical taste the original theme of this hymn is too tampered with, too stylized, too altered, in an attempt to be original, different and modern. Can the lily be gilded? Of course Rene Fleming's voice is transcendently beautiful and full of life, color, warmth and vitality!!
