To those that think the ECRL "is an expensive nightmare" knows nothing about the states the train were intended to cover ! It'll open up this corridor to more business going forward. Also it greatly mitigate the many many hours lost taking the land route from KL (Kuala Lumpur) the capital to the East coast states ( Kelantan, Trengganu & Pahang) for every major festival. This project went through many "start, stop, start & stop again !" after many feasible studies on it & eventually the project were given the go ahead. The train not only carry passengers but also cargoes/goods, to carry cargoes from the West coast to the East coast Malaysia, it can take bulk cargoes from shipping in the Malacca Strait across to the south China sea on the East coast of Malaysia whereby shipping need not travel all through the narrow Malacca Strait !

Even Prasarana, KTM, MAS are all losing money. Why fall for the Communist China scam? Even most of their transit system are also losing money. There will be more indirect benefits to the country. Less traffic jam, less road accidents, fast mobility of goods & to spur the tourism sectors in East Coast.

Once or twice per year of indirect benefits are worth it? It is not worth it at all. It can be worth it if Kelantan, Terengganu government are proactive in calling investors to come & set up factories there & utilize the newly available short cut cargo route. But with PAS in government over these states do u actually think that is ever going to happen? Probably Pahang with Kuantan will be the one benefitted the most from this. I highly doubt Kelantan & Terengganu will benefit from it beyond a once or twice per year occurrences. The claim that these train services will boost tourism is also doubtful. Many flight tickes these days are really cheap. Will ECRL prices be very competitive against air travel? Judging by how much it costs for the project, I highly doubt the price would be very cheap.

It already has. In my town alone there have been dozens of property transactions being the spillover effects for being located nearby the ECRL station. Thanks to the ECRL, there are already plans to build 2 private specialist hospitals by the private sector, something that was once unthinkable a decade ago. Recently the CCCC a PRC investment arm company have just secured a long term lease with a local public listed company to lease and develop a new AI operated port in Port Dickson to utilise what ECRL has to offer.

Its only hope is to see if it can divert the volume of Southern -east coast province's volume, which currently is trucked down to Penang port, through this link!
