Something that maybe pretty easy. Check the kick panels and behind the glove box. On an other note. You told your wife you were going to paint the garage. Don’t pretend you don’t remember saying that. “You are obsessed with that stupid truck!” LOL
haha, i think i'd rip the drywall off the walls and get to bare studs before i painted my garage... okay, that's not true, but i'll clean up and paint the floor of the garage before i do the walls. I like to see all the nail holes so i know exactly where the studs are for mounting stuff without needing a stud finder (my wife isn't always around to help me find the studs...) I'll have a look at the wheel wells, i know there are a ton of wires running through that section but if i can just do the footwells in front of the two front seats that would probably make a big difference in sound inside the truck

I will buy some more of the sound deadener in the fall when it isn't so freaking hot and impossible to work on the car because the sheet metal is too hot to touch. i'll be doing the back wall and the floor pan most likely... seems like that should just about cover the entire interior other than the glass.

Haha, this stuff isn’t that heavy, both boxes ended up weighing 30 lbs combined. When you say to check the inners of the c pillars, what do you mean? Is there an issue to be looking for or are you saying to throw sound deadener on there as well? Cheers

Maybe so but most amplifiers are hardwired and not really too programmable. I think the wire clips are the same from front doors to back so I may take the door panels off again and plug one of the full range rear speakers into the front wiring clip to see what I can hear before I order anything new. Worst case, I pull the signal from the rear speaker and run a new amplifier to all 4 speakers
yeah, i think you are spot on... the doors will make a big difference for sure and make the stereo sound much better. the head liner was a bear to take out and reinstall... i am not sure i would do it again on any future vehicles.

I guess dissatisfied is one way to put it... i prefer to think of it as having high expectations and a willingness to upgrade until i meet those expectations. You are right, that i did spend significant money and time on these projects haha. All said i think it was about $750 for the speakers, subwoofer, amplifier and all of the sound deadening, not to mention the time it took to do all of the work but i had fun doing it and i also was able to make some cool videos that other people may find helpful if they want to go down this path. You are right that the stock stereo is adequate for sure but with the windows down on the freeway it struggled to keep up with the sound. Either way, i think i am done messing with the stereo at this point, i'll move onto something else :)
@@flaberdoopin yes when I say dissatisfied it's ironic I a little too I like to achieve my end having something that suits me my for the stereo it's still a big job and a lot of time I suppose if you do it It was worth it but you completed the thing well by doing the soundproofing which remains very important and I think the biggest job remains running the cables and removing the ceiling light

Hey, can you report back and let me know if that insulation makes a difference with regards to cabin temperature? I have a black raptor and the heat here in VA is ridiculous in the summer as you know. Hoping the added insulation might keep the cabin a little cooler. Great videos btw.
For sure. I think the most important thing to do is put a visor up on the windshield and front windows as well. I’m hoping this stuff helps keep some heat out but I think 8 hours baking in the sun is gonna be rough no matter what. I just hope it doesn’t get so hot that it melts the tar and makes a mess haha
Here in the philippines, we get 107f a month ago. Crazy. Glad i spent over $200 on a ceramic tint. It really made a huge difference over stock. Noon was like a burning sensation thru the windshield. Now its just a tad warm. No kidding. I used to have 3 on the ac. Now i can do 1 for the most part. 2 when its really warm. Do ceramic tints first. Helps a lot with the heat.
@@flaberdoopin at work if the parking is full, my xl gets to sit at the sun for 8-12 hrs. Sometimes i forget things and when i go back to get them inside the car, it feels like magic since its only warm. But its on direct sunlight for hours. 😁 cermic tints work wonders.
that is freaking nuts! when i was in iraq for a year back in 2008 i actually grabbed an egg and cooked it on the hood of our black up armored suburban. I will look into ceramic tint for my truck... i did that on my BMW and it was totally worth it. Not sure what is legal for VA but i want t omake sure i keep it legal so i dont have to deal with having it removed if i get a ticket.
4 1/2 pieces so about 5-5.5 sqft I think. I did headliner and all 4 doors with 30 sqft for one layer but needed about 2 more sqft to finish. 25 total should cover all doors with some left over
i bought a box of each of the material so it was 30 sqft of the sound deadener first layer and 25 sqft of the 3 in 1 hybrid stuff. i had more than enough to do the roof, front two doors and the back left door but i only had 2 sheets of each left for the rear pax door. i think i would have been better off with 35 sqft of both but i am going to buy another full set to finish the back right door and the rear wall and maybe the footwells up front. Hope that helps.
RIGHT ON!!!! did it fit perfectly and were you able to get the jack to fit back in there to hold the sub in place? There is very little door rattle and if there is something making noise it is almost always something my kids left in the little cubby haha. the sound deadener is a must if you are a car stereo enthusiast. i was super surprised at how easy it was to do... i remember doing this on my old 2002 S-10 and the door panels were a complete pain in the butt to get off and put back on, this truck was simple and the door panels are STOUT! the headliner made a huge difference as well to sound level in the truck but it was a PAIN IN THE BUTT to do.

I installed rock lights tonight from Lux lighting that i pulled off my old jeep. ill upload a short to my channel in a bit. I pulled the jack out when i did the hideaway, i haven't tried putting it back in. I just assumed it would never go back :D I saw you just posted a lightbar install which is next on my list as well, ill watch that tonight! nice work!

Too much added extra weight. I didnt buy a tunable high horsepower baja truck to make its already absurd curb weight even worse. Yeah... the sounds annoying, but ive never owned a car that wasnt. Racecar go GRRRRR, if you dont like GRRRR dont buy racecar.
Haha, it weighs less than 4 gallons of fuel, not too worried about the extra 30 pounds. I’m pretty sure most of us could afford to lose 15-20 lbs alone but we don’t go on a diet to race our vehicles (well maybe you do since you are worried about a little sound deadener) be sure not to take any chains or recovery gear with you either, those weigh a few lbs a piece as well!
"This isnt a racecar" huh, well I guess I will just surprise you with mine then once its done. Its a psudo "baja" truck, not a rock crawling overlander. Baja trucks aka trophy trucks are supposed to be high speed, light weight, high horsepower. The way your kitting it out im not so sure you chose quite the right platform "personal preference not included". A 3rd gen pro, a 392 wrangler, and maybe the 4th gen trailhunter may have been more appropriate. Mine wont have 405hp for more than another couple months. Once the injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, big turbos, and other goodies arrive. And it wont be a fatfuck much longer either. I wouldnt do all this to a taco, the same way I wouldnt make a raptor an overlander.
well darn... where were you 2 months ago when i bought this truck... just kidding... i would have bought it anyway... just because i want an overland setup doesn't mean i dont want to get places quick... and it is certainly not a racecar, not even a muscle car, it's a quick truck just like the explorer ST isn't a race car... it's a sporty SUV. there are a ton of dudes over in Australia who set there ranger raptors up for overland, you should probably head over there and tell them they made the wrong choice too. You can still hear the engine, this just quiets down the road noise. I’m still happy with the sound of the exhaust from inside the cab

Yes it did… the weather sealing was great already but now it is even more of a thud when closing

PS, this isn’t a race car, and I use sound deadener in my M3s as well, you can still hear the exhaust just fine, just cuts down on the road noise
