David enduring a long period of time in the wilderness surrounded by enemies, doubts, hardship while he waited for the fulfillment of God's plan for his life. Awesome!
Don't forget David's first child with Bathsheba died at birth...judgment for his sin. Not Solomon. This brings true repentance in David....thus his consternation at the end of the song in S3 E8.
The cave is for John at Patmos. Flash forward. One person toured the cave this summer & the Orthodox Church allowed them to photograph the cave which is typically prohibited.
I am excited for more King David. I would love a show, like the Chosen, about the rise and fall of the United Kingdom. There’s so much there with Saul and David, all of David’s messed up progeny. It wouldn’t be (couldn’t be) nearly as family friendly as The Chosen. But done right and with care, as a the Chosen is, it could be so good.
I would love that too! Hopefully, Dallas will turn his talents toward such a project at some point in the future! I would love to see how he would bring the Old Testament stories to life
I agree. It would make sense that they would show this as a flashback in connection with Jesus' fame growing and the need to sometimes hide away from those who wished Him harm, just as David hid in the cave from Saul.
I began to wander as I was listening to this, “When are they going to show Abraham in one of these flashbacks?“ Then it occurred to me, they are likely saving that for season six. Rspecially if the flashback were to Genesis 22.
@@theeternalsbeliever1779 🙄 For one it's a fiction centered around Jesus & his disciples. Two if you're a whinny negative atheist why do you even care what Dallas does? You're clearly not a loving Christian backing your brothers in trying to share God's word or inspire others to read God's word.
Cave of Adullam where David hid when he was pursued by King Solomon. It was during this period when David sought God's mercy in prayer inside the caves and found strength. (Ps. 142) Can this allude to Jesus retreating to caves to pray in solitude? Like David, Jesus faced opposition and needed solace and strength from God.
When i saw how large this cave was & the lights & supplies, I thought it was when David was hiding from Saul, especially since you showed David early in in the BTS.
Just my thoughts, but if the cave were a place where David and his men were hanging out as depicted by the items in the cave, I don't think Saul would have gone in, he would have avoided it when he found evidence of someone else being in there out of fear of running into David.
You have to understand the geography here, if this is Engedi then there are hundreds and hundreds I caves all over the place. So Saul wouldn’t have known they were nearby. I assume he would go to a cave near this one.
@@TheSnipeLife I don't know this area at all. I thought you meant they might be portraying a specific cave David was hanging out in...and Saul went in there with all their stuff in it Wasn't thinking about it being a nearby cave, that I can totally get. Thanks! Would it be correct to assume this would be just a short bit for an intro?
If you read through 1 Sam. 24:1-3, you can see that Saul was actively looking for David. He didn't realize that the cave he stopped to relieve himself in was the cave David was hiding.
@@theeternalsbeliever1779 I guess my point was he wouldn't have gone into a place furnished such as the cave depicted in the behind the scenes picture, whatever the cave in the scene is depicting. But it's the Chosen, as Dallas says when they go off scripture "it's plausible, or it could be" ..... or is it?
Goliath's sword was kept in the temple. It was actually returned to David by the priest who also gave him the showbread as was seen in a previous season.
I believe it's David's cave where he hid from Saul! - Author of The Chronicles of Assignments: PRINCIPALITIES - An Adventure in Spiritual Warfare, a novel by R. W. Touchton.
Maybe I’m crazy but listen again Brandon to Jalein…sounded like she says Adullam which was David’s cave when she said “that’s all I can say” but her diction seems off. I know she can’t give any clues… but just sayin 😊
If Saul went into a cave to pee, he would notice all the torches and the fire(s). I think that the cave is one of the ones that Davids' group waited for him or lived in.
You have to understand the geography there, in engedi there are hundreds of caves. So he wouldn’t necessarily relieve himself in this one, but like the scriptures say “nearby”
1 Sam. 24 says David and his men were hiding in the _recesses_ of that cave, which clearly means they were located a lot deeper than where Saul stopped.
Religious Studies scholar here. It's widely accepted that Nathanael and Bartholomew refer to the same Apostle. Bartholomew comes from "bar Tholmai" meaning "son of Tolmai" and that makes it what we would call a last name. Nathanael would have been his given Hebrew name. For some reason, the synoptic Gospels chose to use Bartholomew while John uses Nathanael. It's pretty clear it refers to the same man, however, as both are consistently paired with Philip. Personally, I think that the other Apostles would have used his given name, Nathanael, so I'm glad that's what The Chosen is using.
What caused you to think the dark haired lady on the throne with King David was Bathsheba? Interesting. I thought the woman was David’s wife Michal. If it was Bathsheba then it makes sense she was holding her tummy bc Solomon came about, but thinking it was Michal: it made me wonder why she was calling attention to her pregnancy.
David sparing Saul's life in the cave was my guess as well. Interesting to think about how that would tie into the theme of the episode.

Love King David as portrayed in The Chosen! He was such a type and shadow of Christ.
I am thrilled with any SNIPpet of news about Season Four! Thank you!

Hello Brandon. Della Warren here. Watching on my roommates phone. My internet is messed up on my phon

Absolutely!!
David was also Sauls Son in Law, being marrried to Sauls Daughter.
Ohhhh Bathsheba. The hussie! 😉😄
I think it's the cave of adullam
My guess would be that it could be the Maccabees, since we're going to dive into Hanukkah. Love your channel.
Could it be the cave David hid in from Saul?
I agree. It would make sense that they would show this as a flashback in connection with Jesus' fame growing and the need to sometimes hide away from those who wished Him harm, just as David hid in the cave from Saul.
It just occurred to me that David may also have called Saul “my father” because David had married Saul’s daughter, Michal.
I love King David. I remember hearing the stories behind him in SundaySchool. Great job Brandon.
That cave where two Kings were in.
The Dead Sea scroll cave.
This is great!!! Thanks Brandon…love our sleuthing 😊

They just need to make a king David show at this point...
Maybe that’s what they’re setting up for? 😎
@@TheSnipeLife I hope you are right. I really like the guy that portrays David, he feels perfect for the role.
That's the last thing Dallas Jenkins need to do. If he can't even get Christ right, he's going to undoubtedly botch David.

Saul was also David's father-in-law.

Perhaps! 😁

Hey Brandon
Got to do with David running from king Saul.
Could it be a flashback to when David was running from Saul?

I would love to be able to be on the show.
Yep, has to be David with the moment he could have killed Saul.
What brand of Bible you reading from
We might see the Three with David instead of David and Saul. Parallels to David and Jesus.
I'll bet it's David hiding out in the cave of Adullun and they'll compare that to John's death and how it makes John and Jesus' disciples feel
This might be the cave of Adullam that David hid in.
True! Hopefully we get more clues later on, but I doubt it 🕵️♂️

Definitely a possibility! My first thought was definitely engedi but it could be another time for sure.
Yeah lazarus makes the most sense
No. Lazarus would happen in Season Six.

Where is Bartholomew? What did I miss?
In the chosen Nathaniel and Barthlemew are the same person. This is what many theologians think, just like many other disciples have nicknames.

More likely Saul was doing a poo, as it allows more time for David,s men to discuss what to do

Because Dallas said it was Bathsheba in one of the livestreams
It couldn't be Michal because she was cursed to be barren after she scolded David for worshiping God the way he did(2 Sam. 6:23).
Why are you trying to release all these spoilers?! Not following any more.
Solomon! Silly Wabbit! 🤦🤦♂
