    another element: some people are hearing advice for sex workers by sex workers and taking it as advice for their 9 to 5-having lives and romantic relationships. With the utmost respect to sex workers (who deserve as much love and romance and respect as anyone else), it's a different situation and you can't fit the round peg in the square hole.
    Same goes for using billionaire celebrities as role models for love. they don't compare to regular life.

    A lot of people I feel are so afraid of being hurt that the result is to try to be callous, when relationships of all kinds require vulnerability and trust.

      @@rejectionisprotection4448 yes, but her money was the family's money, too. She wasn't overly concerned about getting her hair and nails "did" and him buying her gifts on top of paying for everything else. Too many modern women see men as just living ATMs. They want the princess treatment, but they have no repect for the guys that give them that. they call them "simps". They tend to chase the "bad boys" because they are more fun and challenging. A lot of us guys are tired of that merry-go-round. We want things simpler. Looking for that old fashioned woman fits the bill for some of us, but also, in the world we live in today, some of us just want a real partner. Most of us kind of need 50/50 relationships, but when you say that, too many women look at you funny and call you broke and "dusty". Too many try to chase down the top 20% of men and only settle for average Joe after they see time running out or they've saddled themselves with other men's babies.

    I love this conversation.
    I'm South African and this is an issue we face as women who are looking for marriage, when men want the women to do it all . Raise kids, do all the house chores, do homeworks and take them to school , oow and they judge you when u want a nanny , and yes they also want you to work and provide half the bills .. it's just an unachievable standard . . And it's breaking so many homes.

    I consider myself to actually be a mix of modern and traditional values and I think most people are as well, but pick and choose depending on the situation. I actually think its hilarious that some are seeking more traditional women when they're ignorant of the culture and what it entails, but great conversation.

    What's both laughable and frustrating is the contradiction citi girl behavior. They'll sit up and say men are trash, "the future is female", but then continue to sleep with and compromise themselves to men. Who's primarily raising the boys who eventually become men? Who determines who has sex and picks their romantic partners? Women. Women determine how we're treated and what standards are set. That's power. In my experience, many men's expectations of having sex anywhere from the 1st date to 1st month were set by the women they previously saw. Yes, a man is responsible for his actions, but if he can get what he wants out of you without putting in effort, then he will. Many ppl benefit from having easy access the benefits of a relationship w/o accepting the commitment that comes along w it. As much as we like to blame "the patriarchy" women have more power than we realize to influence/teach men when it comes from a feminine place. That doesn't mean we can't have lives, work, personalities outside of men. But we also need to have a sense of self outside the culture to determine who we truly are or what we want before throwing expectations (that aren't even ours) onto a dude.

      I understand what you mean.
      But I do not agree. Because my definition of sex is informed by the Bible. Which means that it is not about Power and withholding it or using it against each other. Toxic manhood does the same.
      Sex -to me- is a form of binding and unify two people to be intimate on the highest level to become one. If you add powerplay into that it becomes perverted and does not bring what it is supposed to create beetween two people. Which is intimate LOVE.
      To me that is not achieved through Power. Maybe I am not realistic. I dunno.

    • @jeneeskinner7481
      @jeneeskinner7481 Před rokem +6

      @@b.1211 I believe what you and I are saying are both true. The bible is also based in logic and God would like us to avoid the consequences of doing things out of order. God created sex to be a powerful act so it stands to reason that both men and women have power around it. And with power comes responsibility. Sex is a responsibility and was meant only to be shared with our spouse. In order to do that, we each have to filter thru ppl we encounter to one whose values line up w our own. While sex is important, it is more important that we show sexual discipline when needed to get to know the person. The reality is most men are following women's lead on that front. Men's desire for sex tends to be more intense. Biblically, men pursue and women are pursued, both have something the other wants, but that needs to be protected. A woman needs to protect her body until she's with a man who'll commit and she can trust to protect her.

      @@b.1211 I agree with @jeneeskinner7481. Sex is definitely about power. In fact, until the New Testament, there was NO mention of love being a necessity in marriage. (The Apostle Paul established that in his letter to the Ephesians.) Sex was very much ownership, manipulation, and exchange which is the norm even today. After Christ, we see this idea of a one-woman man and a one-man woman being the standard and of loving and respecting your spouse as being requirements.

    What a perspective about the dating pool.... I have struggled with dating because I find that I'm quite authentic but it can sometimes be misunderstood or come across as disingenuous.... Meanwhile I'm just here like no, I don't want to play games, what I'm saying is what I mean and this are my actual values not something I saw on social media😅. It is well Sha.....
    Also congrats on your success, had no idea y'all wrote a book!
