When I retired, I became a dog walker and sitter. I am happy to report that I am TRUSTED by all the dogs I care for. In fact I usually have to warn their owners that they will LOVE me! I have had more than one instance when a dog that I have watched will show up at my house because they want to be with me.
That’s a great story. There’s certainly dogs that when I go to the dog park they are so happy to see me.
All of our dogs sleep with us… there’s nothing better than to roll over at night and feel that warm body next to you and just cuddle with with them.

Oh, thank you so much guys..he was my guardian angel from the second I picked him up..he was part border collie/Jack Russell, so he wasn't a lapdog...laser focused, funny, super smart, brave. I had dogs growing up, but this was my first fur son..
He was blind for the last two years of his life (cataracts) and they were too advanced to operate. I would say "can I hold you"..and he would trust fall wherever he was instantly, I had to be quick, esp when he was blind...all done with a smile on his beautiful face... so expressive.
Bladder cancer was diagnosed and I had to make that horrible decision. God rest their wonderful souls. 🐾🐾
My precious pup snored like a bulldozer right in my ear...and I never got tired of it..she passed away a few years back

When I got my rescue dog, it took her 8 months to trust enough to present her belly. I just had to put her down after 11 years of love. 😭

Thank you. It's quite an adjustment. I have to keep telling myself she's gone. I think the hardest part is that it was sudden; no real time to adjust to a failing dog.

Hahah my dog only does one of these things- prolonged eye contact, he does not like being touched, he is called Bosco but believes his name is Bosco, Bosco, Bosco BOSCO!!!. But I am his person, only I can touch him, he does not leave for his walks till I am by his side. He is a rescue with a trauma history but I do believe he trusts me more than anyone else! And my heart forever belongs to him!
Both my dog and my cat sleep with me every night. One on my left and one on my right side. Wonderful during the cold winters here in the mountains.

I would let my dog (Scout) sleep in my bed. The thing is that she ended up thinking it was HER bed and she was just being nice to let me sleep in "her" bed with her.

I invite anyone that has the compassionate bug to read my reply to her, if it didn't at least give it a second thought, there is no hope for change, but I did try to get into that heart of hers❤

( #2) We've been having coyotes out any hour of the day, and on every walk, im constantly looking for the coyote so i can pick my dog up right away. I'll see her look up at me while we're walking, and i know she's relying on me to keep a look out and keep her safe at all times. How i love her.

my black pitbull loves and trusts me. i think if i gave him away or abandoned him he would die of a broken heart. i would never. he isnt like my kid, but he is family and i love him.

My dog does all these thongs and to think 4 years ago her nickname was " the landshark" shes a tiny terrier and was a rescue and she was so people aggressive i just thought who has done this to you. So we started small i got a creat and made it her safe spcae and in she went when people came over and ince shed calmed down id get then to give her a treat. She slowly realised not all people are bad and she does all these behaviours with me. I go out early 1 morning a week and she doenst even get out of ned and doesnt get up to welcome me home either she just pops her head up and wags her tail. Shes still got that terrier streak so i have to be careful but i love her like nothing else ❤

not forcing an activity is a given however my rescue has an extreme fear/objection to water/baths as well as nail clipping he does loved belly rubs and cuddles however at 100 lbs, these activities are still a Huge problem even after 3 years with us how do I get a calm accepting grooming time????????
I've never tried but I heard of a woman who built a little ramp with sandpaper on it, and whenever her dog would "dig" at it, she would give him a treat. Basically filed his own nails. As for baths, my dog is the same :( He tolerates the wipes you can buy, and we have a probiotic spray that cleans him and gets off scents, and it seems to be good (note that he does not have curly hair)!

I’m the alpha in my house and both my dog and cat know it.
Wolves all sleep together but every member of the pack knows who the alpha is.
Don’t know where get that idea from. I’ve had big dogs small dogs, Doberman Pinchers, Akita, Saint Bernards, Chihuahuas, and more. They all slept on the bed us (I’m alone now) but I trained all of them and I’m the alpha female to them. My ex didn’t want to be bothered with training them.
This is an old-fashioned myth.
