This is a tribute to my bother David! A submariner. Served his country, Was honorably discharged and died this year And went supersonic to heaven to be with Louise. The Love of his Life. We will miss him, and I as well as the rest of the family I his little brother Michael, looked up to him as I did all my siblings. He died This year The cancer took him. I wished I;d been a better brother.
Every time I watch this video I can't help but think what kind of adrenaline rush it must be to ride in one of those planes. Lucky pilots. Awesome vid.
For the filming of "Les Chevaliers du Ciel" the deck was set at 3 m and the distance between planes 1 m. Quite close. They, the French Air Force pilots, were flying Mirages (wasn't shot on the ground).
Sheer talent and the plane they are flying helps too the Dassault Rafale is quite a machine!

Awesome! Viva la France! I was U.S. Army aviation. CH-47 Chinook Helicopter. "Low and Slow" The french pilots in this film are absolutely fantastic.

And for targets in very dense urban areas, the french air force is using concrete bombs. The Rafale is very precise and a concrete bomb is sufficient enough to immobilize any armored target (destroy the turret, the canon or untrack it) or building without causing any collateral damages.

all planes you can see in this vid are french made, mirage F1, mirage 2000, super etandard, rafale.
just one exception, the SEPCAT jaguar which was built in collaboration with the british 50/50.

stratosurfer is correct! he just beat me to the bunch. Pilots also tend to engage autopilots during flight which allows the AWAC's in the air to then have control of the aircraft. But at any time, the pilot can grab the stick to take back control. The F-14 as well had some of these features. I grew up around these planes, i know how they work.

@mapleavenue77 actually, it was a german pilot in exchange with the french navy. He pulled the stick to early which caused the plane to stall.

SHit at the 2:42 m time mark,that low flying bit was too sweet.Thats real barn storming right there. IF you were outside they were so low you could lick the wing pillions scary shit.

Actually the French Air Force has a detachment of Rafales deployed to Tadjikistan in order to support NATO operations in Afghanistan. The first engagement came on 28 Mar 07 when a Rafale dropped GBU-12s in support of Dutch soldiers in Southern Afghanistan.

In fact, the acceleration factor at take off from an aircraft carrier is very high.
It was a german trainee on a european exchange program that was piloting this day. He forgot that it's forbidden to put hands on the stick at catapulting (aeronavale jacket have special "pockets" to put hands in whe launching), so with the acceleration he pulled the stick, the aircraft was too slow and went immediately in stall incidence.

well not only that, but most the time, the takeoff now, like in the F-18, is automatic/remote controled. The pilot has to put his hand up so the guy who launches them (cant remember the correct term) knows there hand is off the controls. But one launched, they take back over.
