Everyone says the factory tweeters polarity is wired backwards. So these plug and play DS18 speakers are wired correctly when plugged in without modification?
Just installed the DS18 Tweeters in my 2021 Tacoma. I was pretty careful and took it slow. It was pretty easy thanks to the video. Took about an hour and had no issues. I was shocked on how good the DS18 tweeters made everything sound. Was going to also replace the front and back speakers but now I'm not sure if I even need to. What a difference.
I just put these in my 2020 Tacoma and adjusted all of my sound levels and what a huge difference. Even my stock front door speaker sound better now. Still going to upgrade to the kicker door speakers though anyway.
I got the kicker style that was completely plug-in play and it made a huge difference. I would recommend that being the first upgrade you do your Soundsystem especially that it was only around $84.
Just put these into my 22 sr5 and they make such a huge difference for a small price! I'd never done any interior work before and this was super easy. I did snap a clip from the one vent/dash covers so that was annoying but otherwise no hiccups. Was totally worth it. Thanks for posting!
Did you have to buy a component set for the doors and just use the 6x9 and ditch the tweeter? Or are people pairing these ds18’s with coaxial speakers?

Mine claimed same day delivery as well. Hopefully it went better for you. But, I had to order 3 separate times to get them from Amazon. For some reason, they just don’t like DS18 lol

I'm glad I went with the ds18 instead of kicker on my 22 limited taco it sucks there's only 2 options that are plug and play but I mainly got these bc they were $80 and the kicker was i think $120 so to save money I got the ds18 and not disappointed I also replaced my rear 6.5 stocks with a set of infinity kappas and I love it I also have a PA speaker on the outside to play music along with my 15" wdx db drive sub next will be my front 6×9
The mounting holes on the speaker brackets are different on each side. Is there a wrong way to mount them? Will the factory have the same mounting holes? Where one is slightly oblong and the other circular?
will this also work on for us 2nd gen guys, or do we need to do the thing where we have to switch the inner wires and then put these in please i have the set on amazon cart and ready to order
Okok.. how did you get your alpha rex to do animation in orange then back to drl white? I thought is was either white animation white drl. Or orange animation orange drl???? 🤯🤯 I'm buying these ds18 forsure after this video. I have the alpha rex nova
Hey Cole! Always nice to talk to a fellow Cole. So to be honest those headlights were installed by Cali-raised LED as part of a giveaway I won. So I didnt configure them myself. That said I am sure there is are configuration instructions in the manual that say how to do it. If not it might be worth contacting alpharex directly.
I just installed mine on my Tacoma but can’t seem to get them to work .. I plugged them in but no sound on both of them .. is there a way to test them ? Or do I need an amp for them to work?

That said I would love to swap them out and try out the DS18 speakers in their place as a comparison one day. In relation to the tweeters though, the DS18 speakers outperform the kickers hands down!

What difference u noticed? Any bass to them?
@@spawn11 Tweeters don't produce any bass (low frequencies).

I put ds18's 6.5 mids in my lexus. Man they sound much better than stock and even better than the alpines I had.

It looks like the Kicker may be a soft dome and a better tweeter than the DS18.

I see you reference the non-JBL systems but how do these compare to the JBL Tweeters (sound-wise) in the Tacomas?

Hey I have the JBL equipped factory audio. Tweeters come with the 2 pin instead of 4. What are some alternative suggestions?
Did you disconnect the battery before popping cover for the air bags in the pillar?
Did you disconnect the battery first? I don’t wanna mess up the side curtain airbag.
I always do for sure but doing speaker work like this it’s pretty unlikely you would complete a circuit that would pop the airbags.
My holes wouldn’t line up what do I do.

I see that these DS18 tweeters are 4 ohm online. The stock system is 2 ohm. Wouldn’t this pull power from your other speakers?
