Sex education deals with learning and teaching all the issues related to sexuality of human beings, human sexual anatomy, sex related activities, reproduction, sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights. Sex Education is also linked with safe sex, family planning and birth control. Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) is sex education that covers all those aspects including relationships, values, rights, culture, sexuality, understanding gender, violence, and staying safe. Likewise, Comprehensive Sexuality Education also includes skills for health and well-being, human body and development.
Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) is an important aspect in the life of any person. It is a right-based approach that delivers age-appropriate components regarding sexuality and its subject matters. Apart from the brief theoretical teaching, the students neither get the necessary practical knowledge, nor can develop an in-depth understanding of the matter regarding sex education.
Nepali society is patriarchal and a lot of people are against the concept of CSE, and also dislike people exercising their sexual and reproductive health and rights. This has led to some people developing a negative attitude towards the subject matter.
