    When I was an owner/operator in UK, I had an ERF 'E' series twin steer tractor unit with a 855 big cam 410hp, backed up with a 13 speed Fuller, it would pull a house down.

    I worked for a trucking company that had hundreds of them. I over hauled alot of them the whole thing linner kits , they did have a problem with the cam bearings spinning and burning up

      Yes, I can vouch for that. My Dad owned a 1972 Grove TM-800 80Ton Hydraulic Crane, that had the NTC(F)- 365 HP 855 ci Cummins in it for the Carrier Engine.and yes it was a Beast!!

    sooooo, is it a real reabuild or one of those take apart, clean it, and put it back together rebuilds? cause i see the liners against the wire wheel along with used valves. nice rebuild.

    Great work, why not repaint in stages while assembly, if your making the inside back to like new, why leave it looking like it was steam cleaned instead of a full rebuild?

    after engine o/haul it's not necessary to use mini torque wrench to re-torque all injector to sepecification

    Hi how do i delete the air compressor from my engine to be like yours. Is the fuel pump drive different from the air compressor drive? I'm using the engines for a boat so don't want the compressor there. Thanks

      Eram usados na Austrália nos caminhões International ( motores fabricados no Brasil ) ,no fim dos anos 80 até início 90s trabalhei muito com eles,no Brasil trabalhei com eles nos compressores Gardner Denver .

    Had an 855 overspeed on me recently
    Has no turbo so it wasn’t running on oil.
    A jumper line on the block is broke and sprays fuel.
    I’m just curious what could cause it to do this
    I had the compression release held open
    And Intake covered truck just started running steady at high rpm
    It would fall back down and ramp way up and then stay steady. It eventually just smothered itself out I wanna know of what I’m dealing with is a clog in the injection system causing over pressurized fuel the smoke was black not white....I’m just a little confused.

    I rebuilt you could eat off the parts, and the work bench. Just sayin’.

      It wasn't even that bad. Everything was placed in order and separated because it's touching doesn't make it a big deal

      He had torn down every component then rebuilds it. Starter, water pump, etc

    Change fuel filter is mere esy to start end dont by leissy you put staring fluid an go oraund the biulding to start the engine fluid o ready dray no work 👍🏼

    Why not replace the liners etc. not really a rebuild as I know it. Better to put a full kit in it. Rings, bearings, liners.

    The video runs a bit fast to see clearly, it looked as though they replaced the camshaft bearings but just re-ringed the old Pistons and refitted the old liners with new seals. If I'd gone to all this trouble overhauling this engine I would have fitted new liners and Pistons and repainted the engine to make it look presentable. I couldn't tell if they ran it without water but if they did it is a risky thing to do on wet liner engines because if the engine gets hot enough it melts the seals that stops the water getting into the sump which would mean stripping out the liners again and fitting new seals, Not worth the risk of that happening after all that work.

      Liners are new. I think formers werent very old, but one had crack and two had some corrosion. Water inside when testing.

      Jarvay . On wet liner engines here in the UK the liners are always sold as a Kit Set which means you can't buy the liners without the Pistons, you can buy the Pistons without the liners but not the other way round, I don't know wether that applies to buying from Cummins but Hepolite only supply as a kit set or used to when I was into engine overhauling many years ago perhaps things have changed. The Haulage Company I worked for had one of the first ERFs powered by a Cummins 14 litre engine rated at 180bhp in 1966 because we couldn't get a Gardner Powered one for 2years and now Gardner don't exist anymore, how times have changed.

    At minute 4:20 he is installing 3 covers on the side of the block that covers the camshaft.
    My engine is leaking oil thru the one up front.
    Can I remove it without opening the cylinder head and seal it. Or it requires more work.
    Please someone help me out with this information.

      You can't remove the cover when head and push rods are installed, maybe you could slightly open cover and change the gasket. New gasket have to be same thickness than old.

      From what I’ve found online, to rebuild an 855 is around $5,000 just for the rotating assembly. Obviously that goes up if you have to machine valves, and block surfaces, or replace fuel components like they did here.

    And valve grind set up is super cheap since as your case most shops don’t do any machine work like shops 15 years ago did
