I love fm synth, and really noise in general, but when you hit the juno with that chord sequence after the glassy fm8 it’s just butter. Beautiful synth- love it. Thanks for the demo
I received another MD-8 when I bought the Jupiter 8 now I have one for both units. However, this little gadget looks nice. Thanks for the wonderful video. :) Take care, Sam.
Even though it takes up space id rather have the md8. I bought the md8 for my juno 60. About a week after it i decided to see what happened when i hooked my juno 106 to its midi out. Pleasantly suprised that it sends the arpeggiated notes out through midi..
Hi, Using the other tool from him for the SH 101...same principle, very nice to control the SH 101 via Ableton! Don't forget also the SBX 1 from Roland if multiple devices connected required....a beast in its kind too!
i'm glad i got a md-8 before i saw this. though. i'd have bought this in a heartbeat, but i'd never have enjoyed the beauty of sending arpeggiated note data FROM the juno 60, to anything i want.. still.. this device looks like an awesome solution.. they mention pn their site that they hope to build one with midi out as well..
Thanks a lot for that video. This might be the solution I'm looking for. Which midi-channel is the Juno recieving from that way? Is it possible to choose that?
Hello, thanks for the great youtube channel! i wanted to ask if the minilogue also works as a master with external midiclock, so that the minilogue sequencer still outputs sequencer midi data to juno60 or other synth, but runs in midiclock-sync to a computer with daw. that would be a very interesting studio feature! i don't know any specific question about valpower. thanks for the information!
I would love to add something to use my Juno-60 with MIDI. I would never do a Mod that cuts or alters the Juno-60. I only know of two offerings Kenton pro and the Valpower device though presently only the DCB USB MIDI is offered. :(
Great video, just bought my first Juno 60 yesterday! I had a quick question. If I had a set tempo/drums on my daw or Juno DS would this allow the Juno 60 to arpeggiate at the set tempo? Or would should I buy the Kenton adaptor for this?
Hi. I recently picked up a Roland Jsq-60 with a missing power cord. I bought a new replacement cord, but it didn't power up. Can you tell me what the problem could be and what I can do to fix it? Thanks!
Hi. I see these are available again for c£50. I just wondered did you keep yours and was it fairly reliable or would you recommend a fitted midi upgrade on reflection please?. I would just like to sequence the Juno from my keystep so I'm not looking for anything sophisticated. Many thanks.
Hello everybody. I ordered exactly the same Valpower Midi in to DCB adapter but I'm having issues. At first everything worked fine, then suddenly it stopped working. I checked all connections and paths such as the midicable. Even tried having different midi-controllers sending midi information to the Juno60 but it doesn't work. The Power LED of the MIDI-DCB interfaceis constantly lit and but the ACT is not showing anything. What am I doing wrong?
So is the device single board unit, maybe with a microcontroller that simply converts midi signals upon input to the native Junos format ? Presumably this is all done in low level code operations or maybe in hardware for ultra low latency ? Loved the monologue sounds when layered. Big fat rave lead.
Hi Paolo...Great little Device... From memory the DX-7 only transmits on midi Channel 1 ? so I'm assuming the Valpower receives only on channel 1 and this is not changeable? Also, is it compatible with a Jupiter 8a DCB? Regards Simon
Ok. Thankyou Paulo. I got one for Christmas... on the strength of your video! Even the Juno 60 was bought on the strength of your "synth romantico" video! Merry Christmas, Paulo! 😊
Almost forgot : to all Juno 60 users/ owners: you are well invited to the Juno 60 Facebook group , with about 300 users from all the planet !!!!! Sharing tips , repairs , parts , preset tapes and more !! facebook.com/groups/1028326427299399/?ref=bookmarks
Can someone PLEASE explain how he got them to work?? i have both synths, the DCB midi thing, midi cables, audio into mixer. HOW do you make the Dx7 play the Juno 60??????
omg thanks soo much for a reply, ive gotten that far. i know about pushing FUNCTION and then 8 on the DX7 to get to the midi section, but still no sound from the Juno 60 coming through my DX7 or being remotely played by the juno. like at 2:50 on the video, much appreciate your time and knowledge
Make sure the DX7 is set on channel 1, as I think this version of the Valpower only receives on channel 1 - also, just to make sure - you have both the audio out from the DX7 and the audio from the Juno-60 going to your mixer, correct? you need the audio of both connected, not just the DX7
Yup so basically both synth audios are plugged into the mixer, its now just getting them to talk to each other. channel is set 1, just it doesnt trigger the juno. hmm
Do you have another device that has MIDI In? If yes, try to go from DX7 MIDI Out to that other device's MIDI In. If it works, the problem is with the Juno/DCB. If it still doesn't, the problem is with the DX7
Boss guitar pedal power supplies are centre negative. They could have fitted a bridge rectifier to run off either, of course.... Not enough people do that.
Ah, you're right, thank you for mentioning it. I should have known, I have built plenty of guitar pedals in the past :-D Of course it still worked, but I'll test it from an adapter that can switch to make sure.
It might be an idea to check with them if it can survive reverse voltage first... You never know. Reversing the polarity solved all sorts of problems on Star Trek, but it's rarely a good idea in real life :)
As a guy who's "fried" a sizable amount of items in the past due to being too careless, not necessarily polarity but typically power related, you are so right. I've just tested the Juno interface with centre positive adapter, and of course it works great, but it worked with reversed too. These days that I got into Eurorack, the first thing I *always check before I hook up a new module, is that the power is connected right! :D
It's cool that they made it work either way. It's a great price for something so specialised too. Yes, plugging in Eurorack modules is scary. The first couple I bought stayed in their boxes for days while I worked up the courage to connect them. Knowing what you're doing isn't enough - you still have to get it right.
I'm looking at mine right now, it's got "9v DC Center negative" written right on it. I just got mine, maybe they changed the polarity since this video was filmed.
like anything with more than one oscillator, more than 2 wave forms, more than one LFO, something with cross modulation, glide, more pitch range, a separate EG for the amp and filter, something that doesn't depend on a built in chorus effect to make it sound usable.....
@@chieftp Sorry ...but i just spent alot of good money to buy this juno60 'fake synth' because although i have several 'Real synths' to my ears this fake synth nails some sweet sounds those real synth just miss. the juno60 is truly great at what it does. different tools for different task. theirs a reason synth mania still has one with all the tools at his disposal
Super cool!! I can see many Juno 60 owners snatching these up! Great demo and review Paolo!
Thanks, Marshal!
I love fm synth, and really noise in general, but when you hit the juno with that chord sequence after the glassy fm8 it’s just butter. Beautiful synth- love it. Thanks for the demo
What a cool gadget. With this I could play my Juno 60 via DAW. Thank you for that review! 😃
Thank you for watching!
Great demo. Loved the Chopin!
So cool! I have a Juno 60 and needed this!!!!
The Chopin sounds breathtaking through the Juno!
That's pretty cool Paolo! I don't have a Juno-60 but I am still interested when devices like this come out to support legacy equipment like the Juno.
Fantastic! I just purchased this great interface... doh! now I need to find a Juno-60...
Luckily they made quite a bit of them ;)
welcome back - my friend
Great news for Juno-60 owners. Beautiful sounds, as always. Love the Chopin stabs.
Thank you, Dadrian
very good contribution, it suits me very well for my juno, thank you very much !!!
Glad it helped!

I have this MIDI kit. It works Fantastic.thank you
Extremely useful and wonderful! Good creation!
Thanks Tory !!! i wanted to make something small and inexpensive without needing to moding the juno :)
Christian Mardones Cheers!
Excelente!!! Congratulations!
Thank you!
I have this and the USB version. Both are excellent and Christian is an awesome chap too
:^)
Excellent vid, thanks! Subbed!
Excellent review! Thank you for this!!!! A++++++++++++++++++
Thank you, Synthgod!
Neat device! I see they have devices for rimshot trigger and CV/Gate as well.

Very interesting video
Gracias MAESTRO.
Lol, I'm no maestro, but thank you!
Awesome!!
:)
Great review! Just an observation, you need a center negative dc adapter not "center positive". Cheers!

I'm gonna need a demo vid!
ordered one straightaway. also i now have to listen to barry manilow. cheers!
Lol :-D
Hmm... That sweet Juno chorus.
Gorgeous! Just got a fully serviced Juno-6 and did DCB mod. This looks like a great solution to get it going with other gear. :-))
Thanks a lot for that video. This might be the solution I'm looking for. Which midi-channel is the Juno recieving from that way? Is it possible to choose that?

Shouldn't it have been something more Italian? "I like Chopin" by Gazebo? ;-)

They (valpower) make another product that does this

So how do you record the altering filters while it’s being played through midi?
Small notice:
Standard guitar pedal power is center negative, as is the midi-to-dcb adapter. The video erroneously states center positive.
Cool concept. Though I wish it could be powered by the DCB port and not require a wall-wart adaptor :/
What do I plug the midi interface into to use it with my daw? This interface will solve all my problems!
Hello everybody. I ordered exactly the same Valpower Midi in to DCB adapter but I'm having issues. At first everything worked fine, then suddenly it stopped working. Yes - Christian, the maker is on , you can check with him
Wish they would make more….
hi do you know any midi mods/upgrades available for the jupiter 6?
Does anyone use this with Ableton? It only shows the input and not output for me I've tried so many cables!
Wait what cord do you need to buy to record midi to daw?
Is there a solution to sequence or add MIDI to a Juno 6 other than the Tubbutec mod?
The JU-6 doesn't have the DCB.

Hi Paolo...Great little Device... From memory the DX-7 only transmits on midi Channel 1 ? so I'm assuming the Valpower receives only on channel 1 and this is not changeable? Also, is it compatible with a Jupiter 8a DCB? Regards Simon
Hello : it has not yet been tested in jupiter 8. It will come in the following months (beta testing)
Christian Mardones Thank you for the reply... can you confirm or clarify my comments on the midi channels ? Thanks
it currently listens only in channel 1, although I will soon add a functionality to change the channel with a pushbutton ...
Cool 👍🏻. Thank you
hi Paolo, record something like that spacesynth, in the style of bands Laser Dance, Koto.
Boss PSA120 adapters are center (-) not (+)...
How can I make the Sequence for this song : pet shop boys- so hard?
Just download the midi file , and play it through the valpower midi-dcb adapter :)
thats what i do , because im a terrible keyboard player , hahaha
I’m planning to get a Juno 60 . The midi adapter is for Midi in and Out for the juno 60 ?
Only In.
Grazie Mille
Quick question, Paulo, (or anybody else who has one...) how do you select the midi channel?
I believe this version is fixed at #1.
Ok. Thankyou Paulo. I got one for Christmas... on the strength of your video! Even the Juno 60 was bought on the strength of your "synth romantico" video! Merry Christmas, Paulo! 😊
Does this work with the Jupiter-8?
it has not been yet tested on the JP8...Hardware is capable , just needs to be tested...

ton compte youtube est démoniaque bLx :o
roket this video clip
I bought USB MIDI DCB-adaptor which is wrong, right? 'Cause USB to USB-cabels doesn't exist
ha ha nice
$58! I have a Juno 6.
you mentioned to "Ad a midi cable"/ to which port?
do you own a Juno-60?
YES THANK YOU
@@SynthManiaDotCom
There is only one MIDI port.
It looks as if it will fall off easily with the power and MIDI cable attached. It seems there is no latch?
Frank55 ohh no , it will not fall , connector is very tight
Like Christian - the maker of the device - mentioned, yes, the connector is very tight - no need for the latches in a normal situation
does it send arp from the juno over midi? :-)
It's MIDI In only
@@SynthManiaDotCom thanks :-)

Assembled, Plugged in, sending Midi from logic (which is working on all other synths, have tried multiple midi cables etc) and still Not Working :(
Are you using a power adapter with it? It needs a power adapter to work
Cool! Wish I could find a DCB kit for my 12bit J8 since I really don't want to drill it.
we might have Jupiter 8 version soon at Valpower ;)

...Donna Summer?
Hey can you explain how 90s Freestyle was made? I’m trying to make that genre of music but I want to know a little history and info about it.
I have like 50 of those disconnected DCB port boards from 60's in a box. I miss the days when 60's were throwaway shit synths up until 2013 or so.
NOT Center positive!!!!! It's center negative!
I'm looking at mine right now, it's got "9v DC Center negative" written right on it. I just got mine, maybe they changed the polarity since this video was filmed.
