- When you alienate your only competent programmers from your dev team, so the only thing you can remove from the debug mode is the GUI.
This is an unmodified "official 1.0" ROM. Press C-Up + L twice, then fiddle with the D-Pad buttons.
And no, this is not an "easter egg" or a "hidden cheat". The creator has explicitly tried to completely disable the L button before, as seen in this discussion from the SimpleFlips Server on Discord: shorturl.at/fDIVZ

It's kinda funny how many issues they had because they couldn't figure out how stuff programmed by Benedani works or how to change it. Watching BikdipOnABus' commentary let's play he brought up several examples of that. Also I noticed they broke the different colored Goombas that appeared with difficulty scaling in abandoned.
Benedani's tweaked version of official 1.0 is the definitive way to experience B3313. Fixes the annoying captain flyguy boss, red star progression and disables the debug mode.
btw, try using noclip when riding a koopa shell for fast mario fun!
i think the new 1.0 hotfix actually removes the debug mode but not the sound test which is equally funny

Before your video I guessed they left the debug mode in by accident. That they don't know how to remove it is even funnier.

Started one day after the release and I'm way behind cuz look how many stars you got and I only got 12
I left the discord a while ago. I thought Chris was adamant he was done with this hack? I kinda hate to say it in a way, but I’m really starting to think he’s a bit of a drama queen.
After we unabandoned his 0.9 version, he made his own official 1.0 version out of spite, which actually references the unabandoned version in a pitiful attempt to insert the drama into the funny wahoo game. Said official 1.0 version is also incredibly unpolished compared to UA, which you can clearly see from snippets like this video here.

You are the guy that released the unabandoned build and that video, i remember that.
And from what i am reading cris seems to be kind of an asshole, and this whole drama thingy that i do not know the full extend... But i just saw the shame room and i had no idea that was in the hack and is just fucking awful dude. Why.
Honestly i still think that the drama kind of ruined this hack for me, no one is the good guy from the ouside perspective(mine).
Welp, at least BikDipInaBus fixed the star ids and theres more areas so if i ignore the drama i can still play it with a free mind and actually finish it.

Ironic how the "unfinished" V0.9 build is less unfinished than the "finished" V1.0.
Ehh i wouldnt say that, missing 200 star ids and having your special ending only acessable via a deathwarp isnt exactly "finished"
Who cares if they accidentally leave in the debug menu? The deal breaker for 0.9 was the 200 or so shared star IDs.

Seriously, thank you and Benedani so much for making unabandoned playable on a modified Mupen apk. I'm stoked to finally have it playable on my Retroid Pocket 2+ and even better you all fixed the issue with the pipe in the downstairs lobby crashing the game instead of leading to the secret beta lobby that looks like the final lobby. I remember you telling me in Discord about how tough of an issue it was to fix and yet you all pursued through it anyway. This build feels way better on Android and I haven't come across any serious bugs just yet but as long as I know how to avoid them, I'm totally satisfied. Thank you.

@@thegreatestroman1651You all unintentionally benefit him as well since this Mupen apk seems to run the "creator's vision" 1.0 build pretty well. Bet he won't credit you and the other "raiders." I checked their newest server for b3313, and they make no mention of how-to run-on Android at all. Chris is probably still screaming at people asking how-to run-on Android. Thanks again.
@@MisterN1 clearly running on android is a reference to unabandoned raiding chatgpt (I compiled the mupen build that works) (...even though anyone can feel free to do it themselves)

I left the server a long time ago due to Chris’ bipolar episodes and toxic guilt tripping about his shitty music not being as popular as this mod. He might the right choice to finally stand by his words and leave the rom hacking scene (too bad he went back on that choice when he saw Unabandoned turned out so good). Unabandoned is more polished and has an actual satisfying ending than the sad “released out of spite” 1.0. I really hope that teaser with the painting eventually will lead to something. And that you good devs will never let yourself be deceived by Chris to get you back into the fold (until he gets another abusive episode)
the car painting is a reference to a separate project that i'm no longer associated with so i can't tell you much about it until it comes out sadly. on the other hand we're also working on a new update to UA (a3) which will feature a lot of stuff (still mostly QoL) so it will take some time to release especially considering most of us are pretty busy rn
@@thegreatestroman1651 Awesome. Again, I really love the ending in the game. Some pretend like it’s some happy sweet ending because it’s such a bright pretty room with cake, but apparently Peach’s dialogue is too complicated for some. The ending manages to both give a resolution after all the challenges and give a peak behind the curtains, Twin Peaks style. Which makes the bright pretty room even more unsettling. Way more so than just another “The floor turns into quicksand, Mario dies and we reset to the state before the ending battle”.

How did this get in the game!? I actually tried and it worked.
1.0 is basically a dev ROM with basic protection against editing software like ROM Manager and Quad64, therefore still having the debug options left over. Chris initially wanted to disable the L button (which triggers these options, but also the switch to Luigi) altogether, but eventually just ended up removing all the text from the debug screens. So stuff like this and a fully functional sound test are still in the ROM, they're just harder to navigate.

I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing or how but messing around with this state has screwed with the music / sounds, I think pressing L has something to do with it
yeah because C-Up+L once is the sound test menu except it's very hard to navigate without a gui
How did you get it move around that smoothly? When i try it the camera is behind Mario's shoulders, the control stick never moves him were I'm pointing and i can't go through walls
you can hold the B button to move him faster
Press C down before messing with the D-pad the problem is that you entered debug while in first person view

you could argue UA partially spite driven (even though mostly we just wanted to finish the game to not have a broken mess be the definitive version) but at least we have virtually no equivalent of the SHAMESHAMESHAME bullshit that the chris 1.0 has and also our version is actually polished
