"Supermotos are the absolute worst machine you can ever have.", says the ones that have never ridden one. They're literally an asphalt jetski. Probably the most fun you can have on a bike.
I really like the sweeping generalities people speak in. "You should have gotten something better" define "better". Is a Honda Accord "better" than a Toyota Tacoma, and are either of those "better" than a Lamborghini Diablo? Is that KTM "better" than a Harley Dirt Glide or a Ducati Hypermotard, or a Verysys 1000? Again define what "better" means and have that definition be applicable for every single person.
I agree, it is all a matter of personal preference. The only bad motorcycle is a bike that doesn't run.

supermotos can easily be faster than a street bike 0-60 and 0-60 is all that matters unless you're riding in a straight line (which is boring af)
I remember what CycleCruza said about supermoto when he bought a WR250R.

Sumo's are great. My theory on riding is that most of us begin on the streets. However, if you get the opportunity and access to dirt trails you will gravitate towards the dirt... I still enjoy riding the streets but it gives me anxiety (cars and cops). I have a badass 1050cc Ninja that I rarely ride (it's hard for me to ride without going 100mph+). It is more relaxing to ride my DR650 off road.
dr650 is a great bike! that's why I love my 2018 701. street bike on the street and a dirt bike on the dirt. it does both so well and it's so fast after being fully modded
I began in the dirt, want to move to the street. Got the license, need the sumo now :p

Owning a supermoto was the most fun I ever had on a motorcycle. I've ridden nakeds, supersports, scooters and sure they're all great in their own ways, but nothing compares to the fun of a supermoto!

I'm 50 and my XR650R is in sumo version and my enduro set up is collecting dust..:)..best fun on two weels with superior riding caracteristic which means most safe to ride...I watched your stuff since that white CBR and liked before,but after you swicth to SM,I like you even more..:)..people just don't understand all advantages and capabilities of that form of light bike and torque moment...safe ride,man👍

I know CycleCruza rides SuperMoto for fun and that's cool, but I can see excellent uses for these vehicles, They make an excellent and affordable Scout and Recon bike for tactical situations. For people into prepping, outdoor survival, SHTF scenarios and things like that, these bikes are great!

Iv rode my SuperMoto everyday since Iv had it! Nothing feels more confidence inspiring in the corners than my SuperMoto! I cant say that about the 2 bikes I traded it in for, mt 09 and Indian Scout.
I did my first Track Day July 6th .. I could tell you a lot about it Cycle Cruzer but it's too much to type.
First the front suspension on the MT-07 totally sucks. Stock it's not safe to ride aggressively or even fast in a straight line.
I installed Ohlin Cartage's in my FZ-07 night and day improvements.
On the track I could feel my rear shock is wishy washy too . I was on the next to last spring load setting on the stiff side because normally I have a top case and side cases on the bike. I have a K-Tech rear shock to install.
I think your KTM would be better for the track and you would have more fun. I think you will get humbled your first day on track. Yes you have to follow some very basic rules. You will have to follow a Rider coach in a group. Some of the coaches are total Pricks with the same Prick Mentality that is taught in the MSF Rider courses. Like when they yell at you for not leaving your bike in gear .. and not using the kill switch to shut if off.. and not wearing all your gear when you just wanted to sit on a bike with the engine off to see how the egronics are. and Yelling at you for only using one finger on the brake .. when more than one finger is too much on a Buell ,
Supermoto = jack of all trades, master of none. Sumo > everything.
Your enthusiasm for the KTM is great. And THAT is the only thing that matters (besides the fact that sumos are awesome). Ride safe.

which tires do you prefer? Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV or Michelin Road 6 or Bridgestone Battlax BT-46 or those Shinkos? Did you consider the Ducati? I am seeing a huge price difference between your bike and the Ducati. $9500 vs $12K. Ducati would have never come out with a supermoto if there was not a market.
I agree, if there was no market for a supermoto Ducati would not have wasted money with R&D for a brand new bike from the ground up.
The stock tires are Bridgestone Battlax S21 hypersport tires. I'll be changing them to Shinkp 705 ADV tires so I can urban dual sport ride. lol
The two big reasons I did not get the Ducati was: it is a first year bike that will have problems to be sorrted out through recalls and the biggest reason is it comes with FORGED (cast) wheels which are not good if you dual sport ride, cast wheels can get crack of you beat on them unlike spoked wheels which can take a beating with hooligan and off-road riding. I really did not want to spend more than 10k as well so i couldn't pass up the $2500 discount, that is almost unheard of with a 690 smc r which are usually always on backorder.
best sumo tires I've found are Michelin Anakee Adventures! they're *just barely* better than the shinko 705s because of the wet road and wet grass performance. they're way expensive tho :(

From what I've gathered, the 2012, 2013, and 2015 models of the Yamaha WR450F sold in the U.S. were street legal. We absolutely need more street legal 450 cc supermotos from more manufacturers available in more countries!

Well the riding class says and stops you wanna have your right foot on the brake not on the ground, and while moving at more than let's say 10mph you don't want to punt your foot on the ground anyway.
So just put your left foot down like a kick stand as you said, at 5mph such as coming to a stop, you just gotta try it to get over the height fear, while you're riding at 20mph + you ain't gonna put your feet down anyway, if you do you won't do it twice 🤣.
Just be sure when you stop for whatever reason, make sure the ground level is the same on both sides as when you're stop waiting for a train to pass
I like to keep my foot on the shifter ready to blast. On long lights I get irritated holding in the clutch even you should keep the bike in gear and the clutch in. Either way, you only need one foot down at stops. The height fear is a mental thing. If only people could see rider like CZcamsrs like Megan Braaps and Sarraz who are like 5'3 and ride dirt bikes and supermotos like a boss they would realize it is merely a mental thing. I commute on a klx 300sm and man lets just say i cant wait to get up to go to work in the morning. I can imahine a 690 would be overkill because i do just fine on my 300 on the freeway here in cali.

It might be irrelevant, but I picked a used 2021 with 850 miles DRZ 400 SM yesterday. I also have a MT10 SP so I'm perfectly fine with the DRZ being underpowered. So far no regrets
DRZ is still a great bike, the cool thing with supermotos is you don't need a ton of power. This 690's has way more power than you need. However, I would like to see Suzuki come out with a brand new DRZ400SM, that bike is nearly 25 years old now. At least add fuel injection on it like euro DRZ has. However, they don't want to deal with emissions bs, cheaper just to keep making a grandfathered DRZ. Honda needs to make a 450 supermoto, they could easily do it with their 450 dual sport.

@@EEEBA1 honestly if I had to do it all over again I would get a KTM 690 SMCR. The DRZ does feel underpowered and it would be nice to have 6th gear. It has just enough power to get around and have fun, but it would be more fun if it had like 20 more horses.
Cycle Cruza!!! You like dirt bikes. I like Super Motos but the type of riding I do long touring miles. Super Moto not making the cut. My buddies like Harley’s Road Glides but I like my ADV bikes. I consider them Swiss Army knife of motorcycles. They can do everything. My next bike Tiger 1200 GT !!

Look brother I have the 690 enduro r, I put the rade garage fairing on it, I still want super Moto wheels to switch back and fourth from. When you ride super Moto, you get it.
Nice! I don't ride off-road much anymore, just riding through local woods fooling around, so it didn;t make sense to get the enduro. You can't go wrong with either bike tho.

Right! I wish we had more kart tracks we can ride supermotos on, tight twisty race tracks are the best for supermotos. You can supreme confidence around corners on a supermoto, take it as low as you want.

I've ridden a few supermotos, didn't find them that amazing. DR-Z400SM, KLX300SM. Found them rather buzzy and gutless. Naked bikes with power for the win.

There's no hate. It's that most people isn't rich like you to own many different modded motorsickles, and also most people have preferences.
I don't have choices to mod. Shoot I was lucky enough to get a used motorsickle for a great deal. Your super motorsickle looks okay meow, but it's not for me in financial, and preferences. Plus I'm trying to upgrade in a four cylinder, or at least a three cylinder motorsickle.

Eh. Cruza just gets high on new bikes for a month, tells everyone they need the same stuff, a year later they get dust in the garage and he sells, moves on. I take it as initial endorphins and dopamine, and it wears down, and eventually rational thought returns for more objective look at things.
If you can only have 1 bike, there is no other style of bike that you can hop on and go anywhere and do anything as good and as fun as a supermoto.

The hate is that almost zero of people who buy them are getting them for the purpose which they were designed. Like an ADV or scrambler. These people are ALL on the asphalt doing the speed limit.
Ok but why do you need 2 of them and a naked bike? Should have just got a KTM 500 EXC-F and spent half as much money on tax, tags, insurance, mods, etc.

Harleys that still use push rods blow. too heavy and too unreliable BUT some of the newer Harley's that use overhead cams... still way to heavy. all the patched Harley riders have turned me into a supermoto elitist they act like douchebags and they're not as armed as I am so I have to disrespect them whenever I see them. Can't stand MCs especially 1%ers.
@@Merc399my 1997 sportster has more power than a new one, weighs a little bit less and doesn’t look like a cartoon bike. It runs mid elevens in the quarter and low sevens in the eighth and gets 46 mpg on 92 octane pump gas. Maybe if they build the Bronx I’ll buy one. But for now my old sportster works for me. Besides, if I’m feeling froggy I can just jump on my 2022 Yamaha mt07. Unlike cycle cruiser mine will never need a new front tire.
@@davidleonard8369 talking about the early 90s evo engine! was the unicorn of harley engines; it ran for so long and was constantly evolved. Fr those 90s sportsters feel almost like a horse I do enjoy that. Still though i cant get over how my SuMo feels exactly the same on road and off and has 2.7 sec 0-60. Its just too nice to think about anything else fr. I've become obsessed with it. In my 3 years of riding Ive only bought bikes that are 350lbs or less. I weigh 195 and ive noticed the heavier bikes dont respond to my lean angle the same. I came from 10k+ hours of mountain biking so i prefer a two wheeled vehicle i can throw around real easily. Plus i got my thumper to sound almost exactly like a harley I confuse the harley riders around me its hilarious xD
