    I don’t understand everyone’s issue with office style vs traveler style gmt. I travel A LOT for work and own an office style gmt. I treat the GMT hand as my travel time marker and main hours hand stays at home time. So anytime I land in a new time zone I simply change the GMT hand for the local time no biggie 🤷‍♂️

      I have an office style as well. I am experimenting with just keeping UTC on the GMT hand and changing the main to local

    I promised myself that if I get a gmt, I'll buy at least a Tudor. Not anymore! Aiming for the SBSC009 which will be the white dial.

    I have the regular version of the watch and man how versatile it is!. Truly a GADA watch. I personally see it as a one watch collection if not for the movement inside, as the accuracy tolerances is very high. To be honest with the removal of the day indicator and if the bracelet wasn’t an improvement from the old one, I see it hard to worth 400$

    I've tried both the SBSC009 (JDM White Dial) and the SBSC011 (JDM Black Dial). Personally I went with the SBSC011 as it suites me more. Since I was getting the Black Dial, instead of the SSK023 (non JDM Black Dial), I went to search for the rarer JDM version to put the cherry on top with my pick. This is my first watch in watch collecting and definitely will not be the last!
    Eyes on Grand Seiko's SLGA009 next when I drop by Ginza early next year :D

    The inner 24-hr track makes the dial look too busy and is redundant with the 24-hr track on the bezel. Other than that I agree this is a winner at sub-$500.

    • @meindertsprang7491
      @meindertsprang7491 Před 2 měsíci

      I agree the 24 hr track on the dial makes the dial too busy. But it is not redundant with the 24 hr track on the bezel. The bezel covers 24 hours for the GMT hand whereas the secondary dial track covers the pm times from 12 to 24 hr.

    We live in Asia about 3-6 months a year. I keep my GMT on their time and my watch set on my time wherever we are at the time. That way, we always know what time it is for calling friends and family. I really don’t use it for “home time” ever. I really like the stainless steel version. I might add a Seiko Jubilee style bracelet to see what it looks like.

    Agree with a lot of people in the comments. A Glycine combat sub GMT or non GMT is a good option for similar if not cheaper price.

    Just bought one in SS (£348) and I'm wearing it instead of my BB58. It is really attractive. Coming in at +4 to +8, so no complaints. A handsome piece, I have to say. I might have gone for the white dial (Japanese market only), but the black dial really works. Push pins a bit of a hassle, but it's a couple of minutes to sort.

  • @JM-gy6zb
    @JM-gy6zb Před 7 měsíci +2

    The most important advantage of a traveller / true GMT was left out of the explanation. You just jump the hour hand in one hour increments when you land at a new destination. Not only do you not have to re-set the GMT hand, you don't have to re-set the minute or second hand. If you travel a lot, the jumping hour hand is arguably more useful than the GMT hand itself. And it's no longer true that true GMT movements are only found in expensive watches. The Miyota 9075 , which came out just over a year ago, is a true GMT movement. You can find it in some Bulovas and in some micro brand watches for $500.

    For a bit more ? It would be a real Looker .
    Leather NATO is Shite . And who at Seiko thought that was Value Added ?
    A Black Waxed Leather Strap with Seiko embossed and a nice Seiko Black PVD Buckle
    is what’s called for here .
    It’s a Seik😮 …. Say it ain’t so ?

    I’ve always loved seiko but I feel like their R&D department just fail to ask any actual watch wearer/collector what they could improve. Literally two things. Add a solid bracelet with screw pins.. the pin and collar system is so annoying to adjust and looks cheap. Add a screw down crown. I mean cmon, this is like the most basic function most people want in a watch. I don’t care if you achieve 500meters with push/pull. It just feels and looks cheap.

    A ‘true’ gmt is a piece of marketing hyperbole. Introduced only in the 1980’s, it sounds more elegant than what it actually is - a ‘passenger’ gmt.
    An ‘office’ gmt is more aptly a ‘traditional’ gmt, or ‘classic.’
    Pilots and aircrew actually use gmt as.. gmt. It has real world use and application.
    A true/traveller/pilot/passenger gmt is a passenger gmt. It is for passengers who do not use gmt, but want an easy way to set their watches to local destination time.
    Great for a vacationer, or business passenger.
