    buy the watch you want to wear at the price you can afford... . I wanted a GMT Meteorite dial for 4+ years ... I've waited and waited for it to become available at 2 different AD's.. Crickets .. even tough I had a history with both spending over $60K. at one.. So finally I waited to find the right one, at $53K new in the box 2024, stickers, 2 months old warranty card.. and I bought it, and now I'm happy as can be!

    another point: during waiting for years for the call from the A.D. Rolex will increase the prices as well. this closes the gap between buying grey today with a premium and waiting for years for the call from the A.D. and paying also more because of the yearly Rolex price increases.

    from my experience via luminox tritium on LUM ..... it ain't gonna look very bright or even seems functional when light is dim, and full effect seems only comes into effect when fully dark and lacking of light. also never forget the effect is gonna fade slowly maybe from 12 to 20 years and totally gone around 25 years in e future . in contrast , while luminous paints aint lasting , they usually can last up to half a century or longer i reckon... i have a citizen NOS from 1970s which lum still works , just aint lasting (last 1 hour?) which i think is also the original capacity of the lum ( old lum ain't that good anyway)

    Bought 2 watches from them. Both were Tags, first was entry level for around $1K and the second was around $7K. Great experience with them. Zero issues. These watches are fine. Never had to use the Jomashop warranty. One thing is that if you want to RETURN they do charge a restocking fee. I looked into it when I had some buyers remorse, but Im glad I kept both. The boxes were OEM and fancy. Just didn't get the warranty cards. I did have Tag service my $7K Grand Carrera because I damaged the crown (after the Jomashop warranty expired). I think it cost me around $700 for Tag to service and repair it.

    Tudor is a disgrace. They have huge quality problems, I completely agree with you. Also, Tudor watches no have quality finish. The huge problem with Tudor is that it is an inexpensive watch, and many people who do not understand watches cultures can afford to buy a Tudor. And they buy. And as a result, we have a huge army of angry fans who think that they "get a vintage Rolex for half the price." No. You get garbage. Rolex just played with you like a cat plays with a mouse. Tudor has no legit finish, no quality control, no technology, no innovation materials. It is just a watch from an airport-store or a supermarket, but with a design copied from the Submariner. Indeed, even the homage Submariner from chinese brand San Martin is made better than any Tudor. They used quality steel, polished, ceramic. Tudor owners and fans are blind. Time will pass, they will begin to understand that they were just sold garbage with Tudor name.

    @wristopia4101 Před 8 dny

    I'm kind of confused what the similarities are? Very thorough review but you missed out the hidden micro adjust on the Rolex (I assume the 36mm has them too). I would have reversed those value scores, and if you think the CW feels anything like the Rolex then your fingers must be numb and you ears blocked (I do not mean to be rude). Watches are about picking up, putting on, closing clasp, shaking around to position on wrist occasionally, opening clasp taking off, putting down, and maybe adjusting bracelet length during the year. The feel and sound of a Rolex is unbeatable IME. Durability is funny, but bracelet is hilarious. This is very clearly a skewed comparison, but sell your Rolex and get the Twelve if you genuinely feel that about them haha. The only thing better about the CW is that its blue! ; ) I got 64 for CW and 84 for Rolex.

    I have the 41mm GSAR and a 6.5’’ wrist. I wear it on the Marathon rubber strap and it is absolutely comfortable. It’s a true dive watch in size. The size may take a little getting used to, but you won’t regret it. The tritium is awesome. It doesn’t glare, but has enough brightness to see very well once your eyes get accustomed to the dark.

  • @runningwithshemp
    @runningwithshemp Před 9 dny

    I have one in an arctic white dial. Too small for most as it wears like 37mm, and as Marc from Long Island Watch say's its his most returned item. That said I think it's utterly outstanding and joy to wear and after 6 months I've hardly worn anything else with canvas pull through strap. As others commented be forewarned it very chunky/tall so in slightly more formal setting I prefer the Marathon Officer mech in stainless steel (one of most underrated field watches of them all).

  • @SuperPeleke
    @SuperPeleke Před 9 dny

    Marathon watches are so cool. I had this medium sized varient for awhile. My problem wasn't the size itself but the ratio of the proportions. I recommend trying it on before commiting to it. The height to me was so tall, so boxy, and chunky that it really felt almost like it was thicker than it was wide/long. It was such a strange proportion. I have feelings that a watch should be a certain amount thick based on the diameter. The thicker a watch the larger it should be. And opposite. If the watch is 36mm it needs to thin down a certain amount. But it is a great watch. Super wearable. And also tough as nails. I had a great time with mine.

    Looks like the watch spec sheets and heritage 'speak' to you to get one. Suggest you to also check how easily (and price) Marathon can replace the tritium tubes if you intend to keep the watch over 10 years. My Ball Watch 'Mad Cow' tritium tubes were glowing strongly for the first few years. It's super cool to check the tinetime in total darkness without the need to charge it beforehand. Now after more than 15 years its lume is only as strong as my Casio MRW 200H right after sunlight exposure. My Seiko Monster bought at the same time still growing like a torch upon bright light exposure. It's costly and incovenient to send my watch away for tritium tubes replacement.

  • @24hourgmtchannel64
    @24hourgmtchannel64 Před 10 dny

    I'm 58 and going back to the 80's I still cannot get past the perception that Tudor is a poor mans Rolex. Don't get me wrong. There are a few models I love and would like to own. I do have a 79280 Tudor Tiger chronograph and in my opinion, it's as close as you can get to a Daytona. Would also like to add a vintage 7928 but prices are crazy. Since the black bay came out in 2012, I've been at the AD twice with one on the wrist and credit card in hand but last minute handed it back and bought a used 90's Rolex instead. I'm more into vintage Rolex and the BB 54 is tempting because it harks back to the 1950s submariners but I cannot get excited enough to fork over even $3,400 for a used one. The way I always looked at it is if you have $3,400, keep setting money aside for a used Rolex. Every Rolex I ever bought, which were all pre owned, except for one Submariner I bought new, increased in value.

    • @manuel_winde
      @manuel_winde Před 5 dny

      Tudor was invented to be a poor man’s Rolex but that was when Rolex was a tough robust good quality watch. Note they’re shiny luxury goods so for me modern Tudor with their technical improvements compared to 80s Rolexes are actually comparable to older Rolexes. Very few modern Rolexes I would want and very few older Rolexes I’d pay the asking price for. Older Rolexes at modern Rolex prices is insanity for me. Clearly the market disagrees though

    • @24hourgmtchannel64
      @24hourgmtchannel64 Před 5 dny

      @manuel_winde Yes, I also lost interest in 2010, though I bought one of the last remaining 16610s in 2010. To me, the case could be made that Tudor has always been the one and only authorized homage maker to Rolex. Some examples are the modern Black Bay especially the 58 and 54, while a modern interpretation of the 1950s Tudor Submariners, the first Tudor Submariner 7922 was released in 1954, a year after the first Rolex submariner 6204 released in 1953. More proof Tudor is copying Rolex's heritage is the new BB 58 GMT as Tudor never had an equivalent 1950s 6542 no crown guard GMT Master.
