Ridley - Voice Test[Stuart A. Hutson]

- Hey y'all, hope everyone has been well! I recently upgraded my home recording setup, so I wanted to take it for a test spin and record my take on a character that I've been dying to voice.
This voice likely isn't everyone's cup-of-tea, so bear with me here. I wanted to try something different because I admittedly wasn't super keen on the scratchy voice that most folks use for him, and always felt that someone like Keith David or the late, great Brock Peters would be able to perfectly capture the 'menace' that is Ridley!

Getting a mixture of Goliath and Beast wars Megatron from this voice. I love it

Not a lot of people know how intelligent Ridley was. So to make him sound well spoken despite his appearance was a fantastic choice! Well done!
Right! He's not just some "dumb space-dragon/pterodactyl", he's the cunning and ruthless Captain of the Space-Pirates!
@@TeamTrainWreck yes! I have been a huge metroid fan for years and i love hearing this voiceover as ridley. Your take on him is how i will imagine him now. Plus a huge fan of beastwars growing up, so even better!
Ridley’s voice sounds a lot like Beast Wars Megatron. I like it a lot.

remarkably well spoken for someone so monstrous, I personally always imagined a more high-pitched carnage like voice but this works shockingly well

While Ridley is mostly seen with a more scratchy and more Starscream like voice, this also works for a version of Ridley who is the one in control
Nice blend of david kaye and keith david for the voice of ridley. Shows that my boy's not only dangerous, but also intellegent.
Ridley's voice in this is kinda hot.

I really like this- I've always imagined Ridley sounding very calm and collected normally, only dropping the facade and going full ranting, raving, screeching crazy when directly engaged in combat, during his regeneration process, or to psych people out

I actually prefer that Ridley sounds like this. Sure people are used to the graveling monster but he doesn’t have to sound like that all the time. Only in certain moods would his face sound like one or the other.

Oh yeah, at least in the old Metroid Manga he could! I wanted a voice that would be both intimidating and a bit unexpected- and the higher-pitched, scratchier type voice just wasn't doing it for me...so, I landed on Keith David's "Spawn" for inspiration. 😅

Other bot you could use for inspiration when trying to do a ridley voice could be Tarn. Have ridley be a well spoken intellectual on the surface for that to only be a mask barely hiding the psychotic sadist animal underneath. Like one moment he's quoting the great literary works and the next he's conducting a autopsy with the "patient" still being very much alive and very much able to feel what is happening

I always imagine Ridley with more of a Starscream voice that mixes G1 and Prime.
I wasn’t expecting Ridley to have a speaking voice or something. I mean I do like it better when he roars, screech, growls, snarls. You know the sounds he has.
