Brent Smith is one of the best "current" people that is a master at his Lead Singer instrument.
I would put Aaron Lewis in that category as well but I think he falls a little short of Brent. In my opinion. I’m sure opinions vary. But couldn’t agree more.
I can't hear this song without FEELING a lot..... Its so beautiful.
Thank you for doing Shinedown! They are my absolute favorite band. I've seen them in concert 6 times at 6 different venues. They are so great live and all four are legitimate musicians. Their bass player actually produced and edited their most recent album all by himself.
Just last week I saw them for the 10th time. They put on such an amazing show and they keep us coming back for more. Love them!
Definitely need to do “The Crow & The Butterfly”
Especially acoustic if you can get it
This. Absolutely. What a great song.
ABSOLUTELY!!!
Oh yeah, that's a must.
One of the best songs on this album
How did I miss this? It didn't pop up in my feed! I guess CZcams doesn't know I love Shinedown
With the weirdly low view count, I'm betting the same thing happened to a lot of people..
It got global blocked then released so YT skipped the main push :(
Love this band. Local Florida band and their acoustic version of Skynard’s “Simple Man” put them on the national stage, but their catalogue is really good. They have an acoustic version of their song “45” which is amazing. His voice is so dynamic.
BTW their “Simple Man” acoustic version was the song for my Mother/Son dance at my wedding.
Aloha!!
Thats right i remember that man!!!!
Shinedowns first album had some killer songs. "Fly From The Inside" is a killer rock song. Impossible to listen to only once. I saw them in a little club that held 200 people. Long time ago. Such a good live band. I still can't hear....
That song was on the GRiND soundtrack with a bunch of other great songs from that era. I think the music licensing issue is why you can't stream the movie anywhere.
I've been lucky enough to see them 3 times and they are incredible live. If you ever get the chance to see them again, i highly suggest you go.
You gotta hear these guys do Simple Man, I'm sure everyone is going to flood you with that same recommendation but they do an awesome job on it 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
"The older I get, the better I was." 😆 That's my new favorite quote this week.
Also, this song is the one that made me pay attention to them and become a fan. I got there late, but I really love their music. I can't listen to this song and NOT sing along with it at the top of my lungs!
I saw these guys live, acoustic and often explained the meaning or where the song came from. I've never had a concert make tears flow before. These guys took so many memories I'd hoped nobody else shared and layed them out in song, which is now live, on CZcams, and in some footage I'm seen bottom left with tears rolling. I also respect thr hell out of anyone that can do so much for so long, so detailed and professional, and do it running a temp, with the flu, under those lights. Love these guys. My end of the road sound track. No rush
OMG Enemies by Shinedown!! What an explosion of a song. Highly recommend!
Gotta do “The Crow and The Butterfly” or “Amaryllis”
Love Shinedown, have to do Sound of Madness.
Brent Smiths voice is amazing.
His vocals are powerful.
You should break down Apocalyptica’s Not Strong Enough featuring Brent Smith. Love the celloists and Brents Smiths voice. I’m curious what you would think.
I sang and played this song on an acoustic guitar at my brothers funeral 6 years ago, after he died in an ice fishing accident. It has obviously been an emotionally charged song for me since then. I’m stoked you did this song. Also as others mentioned, this video did not pop up for me at all even as a subscriber 🤷♂️ anyway Geebz keep it up friend. I appreciate you for what you do!
This is already an emotional song, I can't imagine the wave of feelings you get. I'm an Arkansan, and I know nothing about ice fishing, so I don't have the slightest idea how your brother might have passed, but I'm sure he's in a better place.
Little known fact. Rick Beato wrote a few Shinedown tunes.
Shinedown is such a great band and incredible songwriters that definitely can pull emotions out when you listen to them, became a fan after hearing 45 on the radio when I was in my teens. Glad you reacted to them!
I'm not the biggest shinedown fan but I do enjoy what I've heard of them and a side note the children in the video are actually siblings
Any there more songs??? Where does one begin with Shinedown? This is one of the few bands who can bring tears to my eyes. Some songs to check out are How did you love, Get Up, Enemies, Devil...The list can go on. You may also want to look into Smith & Myers. This duo is the singer, Brent Smith, and guitarist Zach Myers other project. There is a lot of great covers by S&M, but there is some amazing originals too. Not Mad Enough is amazing. If you want true appreciation of Brent's voice you need to hear some of the S&M stuff a lot of it is acoustic, but he really shines. As others have mentioned what you hear on the albums vocally and musically is what you get alive. Such a talented band!
Yep absolutely one of the best out there right now. I've seen them 20+ times live since the start of their career. Can't say enough good things about these guys.
And if you really want to hear some strings, Brent with Apocalyptica and Strong Enough.
I can't tell you how excited I am that you reacted to a Shinedown song. Such a great band with one of the top lead vocalists of all time. Would love to see your reaction to Fly from the Inside or The Crow and the Butterfly. I love your channel and would love to buy you a coffee. I just can't find a link to do so.
I have heard this song hundreds of times, this is the first time I actually listened and heard the strings. Good song, had heavy radio play years ago and I have a greater appreciation for it now. I'm glad you did this song, it slowed me down and made me appreciate something I had tuned out on previously.
Love the videos! Shinedown is great and I think Diamond Eyes would be a great song to decompose. Really reflects the instrumental talents in the band.
You should do a perfect circle the Noose. Or passive or any other a.p.c. songs I'm sure you'll really enjoy The Noose as a composer I'm gonna keep recommending it lol have a great day
great suggestion
Incredible band live too. Humble and incredibly talented.
Fly from the inside from shinedown
i love watching you videos cause not only are you commenting on the amazing vocals of artists but you break down what is being done musically and offering explanation on what we are hearing.
love it
I've seen them live 4 times. Absolutely amazing band
🎯🙌
Shinedown and Five Finger Death Punch are my staples right now. If you are digging Shinedown, check out Cut The Cord or State Of My Head.
One of Shinedown's newest songs, "KILL YOUR CONSCIENCE," is an absolute masterpiece, the vocals are amazing and the synths, guitars, and drums are amazing. You should check it out!
Shinedown has LONG been my favorite band. Ever since I heard 45 back in the early 2000's. So I love any reactions to them. BUT... I enjoyed this much more than I thought I was going to. I really appreciate your breakdown. Thanks!
I love music, from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. It speaks to my soul, whether its the bassist and guitarist, strumming or shredding my heart, the drummer beating it to a pulp, or the vocalist taking my breath away with all the right notes. It can be the lyrics alone, everything all together, or a little of a couple of those things. I so enjoy watching you enjoy music for more technical reasons, but still seeing it move you like it moves me. It gives you goosebumps also. I can't watch tv or movies anymore due to ptsd, and i am so thankful i found your channel. I could watch you watch music all day.
oh, I just love Shinedown... thanks so much for doing this one! Great video!
I'll follow you & Devil are fantastic songs by these guys as well. They also do a fantastic Lynyrd Skynyrd cover of Simple man that really showcases their lead singer's power
Love this song, always get chills!
God this one takes me back quite a few years it feels good to hear someone listening to it since i was 7 or 8 when i first heard it. Keep Up the amazing work! P.S. Shinedown - Amaryllis is an incredible track
shinedown is an amazing band
Shinedown one of the best live shows you'll ever see', sounds awesome live!!!
i was never a HUGE fan of Shinedown as far as going through their whole collection, but a good bit of their songs are just killer. Even for "radio" hits. I got to see them a while ago when their first album came out and they were so good. It was heavily raining when they play and the singer walked all through the crowd and got drenched with us. While half the amphitheater was covered along with the band. We made the joke more like Raindown. Right after they stopped playing, it got super sunny for Rob Zombie and Godsmack.
I've listened to rock/metal for about 30 years now. I love this genre of music because of raw emotion and some of the most meaningful songs. It's one thing to just hear the music, it's another thing to actually feel it. I just found your channel and by watching your videos, you feel the music which makes you appreciate it so much more! ❤
I knew this had to be a recent unblocking, I would've clicked this so fast. This is the song that got me into Shinedown in the first place too, from hearing it on the radio. If you want to hear their (sadly) only foray into 7-minute territory, check out "Lady So Divine" from the album previous to this one. Hard to decide what to recommend (i.e. what would give you good material to break down), but this album has some of their heaviest songs (my favorites), like "Devour" or the classic "Sound of Madness". I'm not as familiar with their more recent albums (and acoustic-only forays), maybe there are more complex songs to be found there. Plenty of songs that showcase Brent's voice as well.
More Shinedown please and some Sevendust for good measure, probably the 2 best working rock vocalists for my money. You can forgot all my requests for more Primus, Mudvayne, ska, or Tool if you bring these two into the rotation.
Don't know if something is up with the page but this video was totally hidden from your recent uploads.
As said already, if you're going to do more Shinedown, their cover of Simple Man is brilliant.

ROCK CANDY FUNK PARTY for an awesome change of pace. Awwlright IAM still here
Wow, someone else knows Rock Candy Funk Party. Love anything Bonamassa does. RCFP would blow his mind. Rock on bro.
Kinda like just hanging out with your buds listening to Groov'n music.
Thank you.
Love Shinedown!!! Seen them 17 times now from small venues like the Machine Shop to the larger venues and arenas.... please do more!!!!! Amaryllis, 45, unity, fly from the inside...crow & the butterfly... shed some light... 45...I dare you.... sooooo many to choose from! They are all great!
Shinedown is great. Brent is on the same level as Layne. They can sing without a mic and still get to the back of the crowd.
Thank you sooo much for taking my request!!.losing 1 family member to suicide is heartbreaking..2 is just too much to take at times..Some days it's hard to breathe...
Love it Geebz one from my soundtrack thanks again😎
I like the way you speak. very clear and concise.
it's official, you have a direct feed from my iTunes/Spotify account. Didn't know that was possible, but I am certainly enjoying it!
So many excellent Shine Down songs. Their concerts are first rate!
💞🥰Great Original Channel!! I play piano and flute forever..I hear more in music than most people. Love strings!! You are Refreshing..new Subscriber here!! This is my brothers fave song, btw. I'm sharing with him. I love most Genres. Thx🥰💞
This is one of my favorite Shinedown’s songs. Of course, his voice but also the strings. My son is in a band and he mostly plays piano but, he also plays violin and the lead singer plays the cello. Love the sound!
This CD is what made me fall in love with ShineDown.
Geebz incredible vocalist.
You should definitely do how did you love
I have to say Brent Smith #1 and Myles Kennedy #1A...both are equally ICONIC voices in rock.
Enemies and Cut the Cord are examples of some of their heavier stuff.
My favorite Shinedown song is Monsters. I am sure you will love it.
Thank you for your quality content! And I mean it!
Would love to see a breakdown of "Crying Out" and "Start Over"!
But to be honest, you can close your eyes and just point with the finger at the song and that will be a great pick!
Thank you for only reaction to the music :)
He has an amazing voice on this song n simple man the Lynyrd Skynyrd cover I love Shinedown btw
My two favorite Shinedown songs are Cut the Cord and 45. I'd love for you to react to both of them. Aloha. 🤙
Thanks!
Thank you so much, Adam!
If you liked the strings in this song, check out “Breathe Into Me” or “Already Over” by the band RED. They’re a Christian Rock band that use a lot of strings instruments like cellos, violins, etc.
Another of Jacksonvilles finest...aside from skynyrd
Another great band in the long line of great bands from Jacksonville! You should do more by them. You should also check out another Jacksonville Act JJ Grey and Mofro. I recommend Lochloosa and The Sun is shinning down. There are nice live versions available here on the U tube.
Seen Shinedown live over 30 times and they are killer live. In my opinion Brent Smith along with Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge are two of the finest singer songwriters in modern day rock music.
If you are going to go down a rabbit hole with Shinedown I’d recommend the following as a starter for 10.
Fly From the Inside
Simple Man (Lynyrd Skynyrd cover)
Sound Of Madness
Enemies
Monster
I Dare You
Mate, you have just made my day reacting to this,I’m a massive shinedown fan.Brent Smith is an amazing singer, they do an awesome cover of Lynard skynards simple man.you may also like to check out shed some light or monsters.thanks again for reacting to this.I’m from Scotland
sometimes I get fk** up emotianaly , Shit this song touch a string did not know you decompose it still here ... am still here even emotionally wasted!
If I remember correctly CZcams's own Rick Beato did the engineering on this album. Very powerful.
Did he? I know he cowrote a few songs on their first album but thought that was it
@@iliketrains3495 At least I thought so.. I remember him talking about it in one of his videos but can't for the life of me find it now, of course. It might have been one of his livestreams where it's not so structured in terms of topic.
@ShapeshiftedCow Yes I did see that video I remember him saying it was all Brent and many other people who worked on that album. Barry & Zach did some stuff on the album.
Excellent band, amazing vocalist. I'd suggest Monsters if you want to see Brent flexing his chops some more. Cut The Cord or State of My Head for a different side of them.
He does actually sound like this as well, it's... fantastic haha. And surprising.
Love your reactions! Being a string guy, I would highly recommend HURT Dance Russe, absolutely beautiful.
Just to pique your interest a bit, the lead singer plays violin while he sings, and it’s magical. Watch the love Arch City live recording. A reaction video would be AMAZING, but I just really need you to hear it just for you. You won’t be disappointed.
A good Shinedown song to check out is Diamond Eyes, originally from The Expendables soundtrack. I know you don't pay attention to the lyrics on the first pass, but they're really powerful for anyone that has gone through any kind of trauma 👍
Shinedown is awesome! Their cover of Simple Man is epic.
Thanks as always for the great content! If you like this song, you may also like 45 and sound of madness by this group
Very good professional analysis of excellence! Thank you! Now if you want a real treat and about an hour to break down the excellence of this song, then listen to the adventure of Theocracy "Mirror of Souls"! 22minute rock opera extravaganza! BTW when you do you will want to close your eyes to get the visuals!
Strapping young Lad - Almost Again Please react to this you will love it. some amazing guitar work, an unbelievable vocal performance from Devin Townsend and some of the best metal drumming there is and my favourite groove of all time!
"45" and "simple man" is other tracks you can checkout
Their Simple Man cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd, please. Stunning.
I'd recommend a sound of madness from this band...so good. Saw them live many times and they always put on a amazing show. Also is it just me or am I hearing the ocean occasionally when he is talking?
can you check out please falling in reverse "the drug in me is reimagined" , or " im not a vampire revamped"
Would love to hear your assessment of NF,clouds.
How did I miss this one.....? I remember when Shinedown came out on the radio years ago. Good band. Rock n Roll
Hey Adam! I got full global block a few days ago and push a disputed call for review and they just let it go so it doesn't get the same alert push through YT as a fresh upload :(
@@KeyOfGeebz well that's a bummer. Glad it's up now!
Shinedown's Fly From the Inside is my fav.
You gotta listen to 'red' man, such a great band regarding composition and just generally great music, also partially heavy
If your into strings you need to check out Apocalyptica feat Brent Smith- Not Strong Enough...
I think you'd really love Get Up & Devil by these guys. Or Enemies. Plus, the videos are great! Brent can WAIL. Dude has PIPES! I saw them live...and he hardly needs a mic, his voice is so powerful!
He does sing with no microphone alot of videos of him just singing & acoustic guitar nothing else. His voice is the same with microphone or not.
Shinedown!! Since everyone's recommending Simple Man, please do the song .45 or Fly From The Inside (from their 1st album) or Monsters which is more recent. Brent's voice is amazing and tends to overshadow the rest in my ears but I wanna better "get" the rest of the music!
Sorry I originally thought this was a vocal breakdown so that’s why I was surprised you hadn’t heard of these guys. Still. Check out smith and Myers as a duo they have covered almost everything it seems like. It’s just the two members doing very basic guitar vocal stuff no drums or anything else
The band uses my family’s guitar string SIT Strings out of akron Ohio
I recommend "I Don't Care" by Apocalyptica
Look at you running from the tears there man.
Well go for a sound of madness or the human radio
Can you do breaking Benjamin's cover of Queen's who wants to live forever
Woo... We gonna do Nickelback next? Maybe some Drowning Pool??
we need reaction on Mark Tremonti please
I'd like to ask a pro (Reddit & Quora could not answer): Whe you listen thru stereophonic headphones, you have the music in your left ear, and your right ear... then it combines to make a THIRD sound as if in the MIDDLE if your brain! What is this called? A binaural expert once told me the 3rd sound is an "illusion" so to speak, that your brain fills in. Your take? Hope your are well! ◇
Jimmie's Chicken Shack - Fallin' Out
Brent Smith has had the best voice in Rock since the millenia change.
He is tied with Adam Gontier IMO
@@koythomas9715 you can't even compare them. Completely different styles. It's like Stevie Ray Vaughan or Eddie Van Halen. Completely different. Equally Great. But completely different.
@@oldschoolfink3212 By saying Brent has had the best voice in Rock, that is basically comparing all Rock musicians to Brent. Does that mean you retract your statement?
No, Brent, imo, is still the best rock singer I've heard since the year 2000
@@koythomas9715 before that, Scott Scott Stapp. Up until they arrived, I would Ronnie James Dio and Ronnie Van Zant.
