Trivium is one of those bands that put out solid albums everytime, and that's impressive being they've been doing it for almost two decades now.
They just released their tenth one last friday called "In the Court of the Dragon" and it's full of bangers. Trust me I'd love to give you a list of tracks you should give a listen, but I'd be here all day, so I'll just stick to a few:
    - Throes of Perdition
    - Like Light to the Flies
    - Sickness Unto You
    - As I Am Exploding
    - Feast of Fire

Probably there'll be a lot of other comments pointing it out, but Trivium 's songs are very different between each other and especially between each album. They're very creative with the scales and compositional elements of their music, one song I'd recommend you to check out would be either something from their new album they released last week, In the Court of the Dragon, or Shogun, which is considered their most technical album and a fan favorite overall

Kiristute Gomen is such a good shout. My second favorite from Shogun, behind the title track. I'm just a huge nerd for 10 minute proggy jams.

That melody you were talking about is a piano melody that is actually being reprised from the intro track that goes right into this song. It's basically just that melody by itself without anything layered on top of it and goes right into Matt shouting "In Waves". In many of their live shows, they start with that intro, but close the show with this song. So that melody basically bookcases the whole set. (Don't sue me if that is no longer the case, I haven't seen them in a few years.)

Finally some Trivium! They're super diverse for a band that's not completely prog. They always know how to balance heaviness/catchiness and technicality/simplicity. Everyone's gonna ask you to react to their 10 minute epic Shogun along with a bunch of songs from that album, and deservedly so. They also released one of their best albums ever this month, and I know you'll enjoy The Phalanx or The Shadow of the Abattoir off of it, both 7 minute musical journeys.

It's one vocalist that does the screaming and clean vocals, the lead guitarist does a gang vocal in some screamy parts. The vocalist is the rhythm guitarist as well, so he's doing both vocal styles and playing the rhythm guitar. He's, a very skilled individual. He does his practice sessions on live stream sessions on Twitch.

Trivium just released a song called The Phalanx. I would highly recommend it features their style perfectly. I love In Waves cause it is so in your face! Trivium wear many hats and you will need to listen to more songs to get a feel as they seem to change their sound a decent amount, at least to my untrained ears. Definitely an amazing band.

Trivium is pretty consistently putting out great music always. Just last week a new album dropped. In Waves was one of my favorite albums for a long time. This is a fun one to play, great rhythms.
Check out one off the new album, they added some subtle orchestration and it's pretty cool. "In The Court of the Dragon" or "The Phalanx" are probably interesting to check out as compositions.

    Singers in trivium.
Main singer and guitarr player, does Clean and harsh vocals.
    Second guitarrist does "backup growl"
    Basist "backup clean"
There are some really nice live recording when they just is in a room playing lots of song.
Other great trivium songs that I have already seen people suggest, Shogun and Down from the sky.

Wow, seeing how fast you went into hook mode was a delight, especially because of you popped into it!
I think that most people would agree that In Waves isn't Trivium's best album, (even if it's my personal favorite), but most people would absolutely agree that Shogun is their best album.
I'd definitely also like to see your reaction to Machinhead some day, and if you do, you should start with something from The Blackening, and then hit up Locust afterwards because of how much the band learned and relearned between those two albums

Please do yourself a favor and check out "what the dead men say", "catastrophist", or anything off their new record "in the court of the dragon. Or, go backward and do something off the shogun record or the ascendancy record. Cheers

Other than the vocal sections that would be obviously difficult to perform by himself, Matt does indeed perform both clean and harsh vocals live.
Also, I echo “Shogun” and “Sin and The Sentence” as absolutely stunning albums to dive into for more Trivium reactions.

I really dig what you're doing with these songs. I appreciate the reaction WITH the in depth analysis. I've been in bands writing similar stuff like this and doing God knows how many covers of everything from Jimi Hendrix to Black label society to as I lay dying lol. Almost every time I listen to a song (even songs I've heard a ton) I find something new that keeps me interested and listening. If they're worth a damn, these types of songs don't die, man. Trivium has stood the test of time so far, so they're doing something right. New album just came out. I'd suggest "Like a sword over Damocles" or "A crisis of revelation". I'd love to hear your take on those. Keep up the great work brother! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
