When I bought this game used nearly 22 years ago, the clerk said “I was going to love it.” …..No one who ever sold me a game was ever as right as he was. This is one of the most important games I’ve ever played in my life.
I first played the intro which came with demo disk in a magazine, on my cousin's PSX. I new I had to play the whole thing... it took me like 6 months to actually get my own console and get the game for myself. Everything has been downhill from there.
I bought this game from toys'r'us and had made a reservation for it, so my mom took me to toys'r'us and we got the game. I wanted to reserve it to show my brother what 'cool' thing I got. When I showed it to me, he chewed me out for reserving the game and telling me it was a waste of money. I was 11 years old, but I used to look up to him until I realized he was-and is-a gigantic piece of human waste. Worst brother I could have ever asked for. Such a shame too.
Because a tropical jungle doesn't actually exist in Russia. The place the game is supposed to be set in is actually cold and snowy all year round. So they couldn't use stock footage of the ages because it literally doesn't exist in real life.
Just beat it in October 2019 for the first time. I am 20 years old and god, for a long time i have not enjoyed games like i did those 3 days ehen i was playing MGS. Despite the graphic i really liked the game, the dialogues, the story, the characters - everything is perfect. I dont even remember when a story catch me like a mgs did.
@@XRebelRenegadeX January 2022, I couldn't play the game way back then, since I wasn't alive yet, but after playing it, it's a really good time, I can see why its the best game on the ps1. Definitely in my top 10.
i played it back in december of 2017 after being a fan for years. I'm around your age and i gotta say, i wish i'd played MGS earlier than i did. Best of the entire series from what i've played personally.
october 2023, 18 years old first time playing this since i didnt have ps as a kid (played videogames my whole life) and i enjoyed this game so much, i beat mgsv 100 percent and now i will do the same with the rest of the franchise it is so good...
remember beating this game in 98 at 8 years old. seeing these credits gave me such a feel of accomplishment I also was obsessed with this fucking game still am sort of. first tattoo i ever got was the foxhound patch on my shoulder. everything about this game was damn perfect.
Im 27 and i feel ya, it's hard these days to find a game that hits as hard with emotions like Solid 1 did with it's story. I was 6 at the time when i first started playing, never could get far but a few years later when i was around 8 or 9 i managed to beat it and it nearly brought me to tears.
Born in 94, my older brother played it in 98 and I can still remember that tears left my eyes as a young kid because it was so beautiful. Thank you so much Konami for this memory...
I beat the game for the first time today and came to tears whilst watching these ending credits. It wasn't even the story that got me that emotional, but the immense amount of it's artistic accomplishment... I'm 22 btw.
I was 17 years old when I beat this game. Got it launch day at software etc. It's nearly 26 years later and it still pulls at my heart strings. A masterpiece of interactive entertainment.
MGS1 and FF7 (PS1) literally changed my life. I was in 6th grade when I played these games and they shifted my perspective not only on what video games were, but my philosophy of life. Masterpieces. I cherish these games.
I always come here from time to time to hear this and cry a few tears to wash my soul when i can't bottle up my emotions any more. I was just a young boy when i played this game for the first time and now I'm 27 and i feel old and tired just like snake, but just like Naomi says, "The important thing is that you choose life." so we must keep on going.
I remember the feeling of watching the entire credits after I beat it. I got my PS1 and MGS for Christmas in 1998. I also got Playstation Underground. I sure miss those days.
I came to tears (even right now I am crying) when I watched the nature scenes of this ending mixed with the beauty of its music, and the awful situation that there's still hundreds of nuclear warheads ready to destroy entire civilizations, and the most sad of it, to obliterate innocent creatures of this wonderful planet.
Hear this music, remember the first time I binged a game, played through in 3 days....mind being blown with every twist and turn and then it ends with this! It is sad that modern games are graphically many times better yet lack the creativity and emotion of older games.
Trey Owen same thing on a few scenes and voices in mgs4.. the flashbacks were epic but well done! snake eater playing during the fight was another for me lol
There was never ever a game that satisfied me like the MGS series. Actually, this game is responsible why I got into the filmmaking industry nowadays. It all begann with this story.
Este juego es una obra de arte, tiene de todo.sin duda además de ser el mejor juego de la primera consola Playstation, también es (para mí,al menos) uno de los 10 mejores de la historia.
That's why I decided to start with sleddogs. Best Game, so much love for the detail though. Cheers from Germany in 2018!! ;) Hooya David and Vulcan Raven ( which is a spiritual Person to me)
In the 1980s, there were more than 60,000 nuclear warheads in the world at all times. The total destructive power amounted to 1 million times that of the Hiroshima A-bomb. In Janurary 1993, START2 was signed and the United States and Russia agreed to reduce the number of deployed strategic nuclear warheads to 3,000 to 3,500 in each nation by December 31, 2000. However, as of 1998, there still exist 26,000 nuclear warheads in the world.
Wisses that wasn't a great remaster due to the voice acting and new mechanics that made it too easy. It looked better of course but overall lacked the feel of the original(changed music, sounds, look etc.)
Wisses totalmente cierto xD esa parte es super épica, y mola que mientras avanzas van saliendo flashbacks, me emocione muxo en esa parte, muy epico todo ^^
The credits ended right at 5:29 for me! I had to restart the game too at that point. Is this supposed to happen on a first playthrough or do I need to replay the game to get the added after credits part.
"Humans can choose the type of life they want to live. The important thing is that you choose life, and then live!"
That put me in mega tears cause it b true
I sent this to my suicidal friend. Words like these really help. They help me and I hope they'll help him.
I love this quote but it was super hard to find it.

Still the best credits of all time.
Yes I agree.
Mgs 3 is tied
There's something about mgs1 and 2's stock footage credits man
A shame they stop doing it after 3
Why too political?

That ominous beat at the ending line gets me every time.
I completed the game when I was 8 I’m now 29 it’s such a shame that most games made today don’t compare to the ones made back then.
You said it brother. Im 28 and i feel yah 100% man..

My childhood right here. I was 9 or just turned 10 when this came out. Can't believe I'm 30 this year and thus game is 20 this year.
when my dad and uncle were kids, they weeped because of the ending was so intense and then the music kicked in, so they just started bawling
TheAlmightyKitten how old are they? Cause the game is 20 years old this year? And I'm 30 this year.
