  • Six weeks after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the Breeders’ Cup World Championships were held at Belmont Park. Tiznow made history when he became the first horse to win back-to-back editions of the Classic, defeating European invader Sakhee to race caller Tom Durkin’s legendary proclamation of “Tiznow wins it for America!”

As a fellow Cal-bred - he is so special to me - hoping he has a long long retirement-

  • @christopherchannelmarlo3227

My only regret was his lovely Owner had passed away earlier that year and didn’t get to witness this feat . He is to this day the only horse to have won consecutive Breeders Cup Classic.

The only horse to defend his title in the Classic puts him in the elite category. I thought Zenyata would do it, but it's an incredible accomplishment. Tiznow has big bragging rights. I love this memory from such a tragic time in our history, it really was more than a horse race.

So glad Chris had the honor of riding him. One of the best jockeys ever to ride a horse and Tom Durkin calling a great race like he always does. Tiz Now For America....Yeah!

My heart just calls to to Cecelia Rubins for her belief and LOVE of this pedigree line.....She to me is a LEGEND having bred this line up to get TIZNOW. One woman I would have loved to have known. (for those who don't know: she passed away 3 days after the 2000 win: her Dr. told her she could not travel to the race due to poor health...) we all know what she told the doctor!!! My kinda woman

Was exceptional win.Left it late. But when stride was organised, could be said would have won more with extra distance.Second was very good but was done in time.

Pretty strange, why they not interview the trainer's horse jay robinson, he's father was the vetenerian, he also make another cal_bred ,flying continental, to beat top field in G'one Marlboro cup in belmont track, no whip in Tiznow , figure out yourself , if you believe in sofistiqueted, drugs like the ones he applied this same, vetenerian in famous John Henry, bayakoa, paseana ect, for, trainer Ronald mcAnally plenty of victory's against di best, race horses

As one who has studied the facts about 9/11 and who realizes that it was an inside job, I find no burst of pride in realizing that Tiznow was foaled in the USA. His first classic win was over Giant's Causeway who was bred in Kentucky but represented England. The next year the field for the Classic included European superstars Galileo (Epsom Derby and Irish Derby winner), and Sakhee (Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner), who were both racing on dirt for the first time.[20] Can you imagine if it had been on turf with Tiznow never having raced on that surface? Also the European raced horses had never raced on a track with left turns. Another disadvantage. For his final race, Galileowas racing on dirt for the first time. The Classic was expected to feature a third meeting between Galileo and Fantastic Light, but the Godolphin horse was switched to the Turf shortly before the race. In the Classic, Galileo raced behind the leaders for most of the way but was unable to quicken, staying on at the same pace to finish sixth of the fourteen runners behind Tiznow.Galileo's retirement was announced immediately after the race.
Still, if you want to wave the American flag for a horse, Tiznow, whose ancestry like that of all thoroughbreds traces back to England and Arabia, go right ahead.

So what seems to be your problem? You sound like a spoiled child that didn't get his way. Grow up.... Galileo was a great race horse and an even greater sire, Sakhee was a top class horse: yes, all TBs are related to each other at some point: I wouldn't say that Tiznow would be at such a great disadvantage on the turf, he might have been even better on it, who knows?
Is all of your nastiness coming from your idea that 9/11 was an inside conspiracy?
Well brother, even if you are right, what do all of the innocent race horses and racing people have to do with it, as well as the average citizen?
