  • Compilation featuring the incredible viewing area on the Fort Lauderdale Jetties Beach, along the mouth of the Stranahan River, leading into Lake Mabel and Port Everglades. You can swim, fish on the jetty, watch the abundant boat traffic coming and going all day, from sailboats and catamarans to yachts of all sizes, chartered fishing boats, dinghies, cargo freight liners, cruise ships launching with their Coast Guard machine gun escorts, as well as watch the planes taking off from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and tour helicopters flying passengers over the ocean. There’s also pelicans, ospreys, terns and gulls, all gliding by and dive bombing for fish. It’s a rare and spectacular location in terms of what you can potentially see, and is as close as you can possibly get to the cruise ships launching without actually being in Port Everglades itself. This, and Miami’s South Pointe Park Pier, where you can watch the ships launching from the Port of Miami and planes taking off from Miami International, are the only two locations like this in the entire region, and rare for anywhere in the country.
The first day I decided to attempt to visit this kind of hard to access beach, having no idea if it would even pan out (and which was only made possible by posting an inquiry comment to another CZcamsr who was kind enough to respond right away with tips for where to park and how to access), I didn’t realize it was the same day as the annual Ft. Lauderdale Air & Sea Show. So that was pretty cool, and you’ll see a little of that in this vid as well. Pretty much every vid used in this compilation features multiple things listed above, so there’s never only just one thing happening.
For fun I also added some stats for each ship, if I was able to locate them, including ships’ rankings in terms of the largest cruise ships in the world. If I don’t include a worldwide ranking number then it means the ship is “too small” and didn’t appear on the list. (Which is kind of funny, because even the small ships look huge - which is exactly why I put the stats, to provide that comparison for viewers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of... )
NOTE: There's no time lapse speed up in these vids, which you tend to see in other cruise ship spotting vids. The point of my vid is to hopefully make viewers feel relaxed, and convey what it’s like to actually be there on the jetty, having the full “South Florida ocean experience,” in regular time, and complete with all the natural sounds.
    Enjoy……

I am so excited. My family (extended family) will be on the beautiful Freedom of the Seas in August 2024. I am an avid cruiser and have been on the Freedom its a beautiful ship. I am excited to see the children enjoy it just as much as we did.

*NOTE:* The first vid is a little shaky, but the rest are much more steady. Did my best in all the follow up vids to stabilize the camera as much as possible. And be sure to click on 1080! Like all YT vids it defaults to 360 for some reason.

Dear Carissa: Thank you for your time and hard work assembling this wonderful compilation. Amazingly, it invites us to do less instead of doing more, and thus, halting anxiety, misery and madness in the pursuit of doing, achieving and accomplishing so many things. And by seeking less we can do more of the things that matter, just the essential ones to keep us balanced, sane, and moored to our true divine essence. In truth, you make a huge difference in the world once you are marvelous source of peace, joy and wisdom. So enjoy Vladimir Horowitz (Piano) performing one of the best concerts of classical music of all time. Also great to watch in this wonderful video and audio quality: czcams.com/video/8ELwCdgGQLQ/video.html - May your new endeavors match your superior aspirations along 2020 and beyond! With unfeigned admiration and appreciation, Guillermo (San Antonio, Texas).
