Elijah Craig BP has definitely gone up. I usually see it for $80-$90 in my area. However, I did pay $99.99 for the ECBP C923. I had hesitation, and total FOMO, but I am very glad I did. It is the best bottle I was able to purchase in 2023. “No regerts.”
ECBP is $75-$80 near me (RI and Southern MA)
And local store charged $100 for C923 (worth it!)
I stocked a few KC9 SiB when they were hard to find around here, but I agree it's hard to justify the extra $25 or so for another 20 proof. That said, I would definitely pick up a store pick if I ever see one. Cheers and happy new year!
Happy New Years!!!
The best of the year is what I have enjoyed the most! Not what the CZcams so called "experts," rate! For me a toss up this year between Old GrandDad bottled in bond at $23.95 and Maker's Mark Barrel Proof at $39.95.
I'm almost exclusively a Scotch guy, but at the start of my whisky journey, I bought a bottle of Russel's Reserve 10 and I absolutley hated it. It put me solidly on the path to Scotch, and for that, as bad as I thought it tasted, I am grateful to RR10. Perhaps I got a bad bottle, but it had an overpowering profile of nail polish remover for me. I have since tried some other bourbons with greater success (I have an Old Forester, my lone bourbon, in my collection and it's reasonably good), but none has ever measured up to my favorite Scotches. I guess I'm defintely more of a malt guy instead of corn. I'm looking forward to your Scotch review for 2023. Cheers!
Can't way I'd you got a bad bottle or not, but I can appreciate someone who loves Scotch! I'm editing the video right now so you'll definitely have it tomorrow!
My wife paid $80 for ECBP C922. We’re in metro Detroit and that’s usually what I see it for. That’s the first ECPB I’ve had and I was blown away.
Agree on the ECBP C922. Also got the C923 which is one of the best whiskeys I’ve had this year.
I came around on Russell's 10 this year too. Not my favorite, but good stuff
I have 2 bottles of EC barrel proof
C.....sooooo good.
ECBP is a very safe choice
Im in GA so 13th colony is everywhere. OGD114 is also easy to find here.
So you prefer RR10 over the SiB?
Great list! I JUST found Ild Grand Dad 114 in my town and it is good for the price. I figured it was obviously superior to the bonded but not I want to try the bonded since you like it better!
Maybe I said something wrong. I haven't had the bonded. Haven't been able to find it
OGD is one of my favorites. Like the 114, but never tried the BiB since it's only $2 less than the 114 in Michigan.
I bought the OGD bonded in Florida yesterday because it’s not sold in Alabama and I like it a lot. Great flavors and a good $25 bottle
If you’re ever in Maine you should have no problem finding OGD114 or OGD bonded.
Pretty sure 13th Colony Double Oaked wasn't $65. Most places were selling it for $199 but I think the actual MSRP was $149. Good luck finding it as well, even at release each year.
Thats insane. Definitely not a 200 dollar whiskey. I thought it was properly priced at 65
Drop the cork if you need an educated excuse to finish up a bottle ASAP. Noted. This channel is so educational! :D
Happy New Year!
Hah.
Doctors hate this one neat trick!
ECBP around 80 by me if I shop around maybe 75
Never tried regular KCSiB , but because the two KC SiB Store Picks I had were the best bourbons I've ever tried ... I bought regular KC9. (And KC12, and tried a pour of KC18 at a bar.) I do not like regular KC9 at all. There's something really off about the balance to me, where it's not sweet enough so it just kinda tastes like alcoholic oak. Not my profile...
What do you think of the Elijah Craig B batch?
Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to try that one this year. I may see if I can get on their sample list or something. I'd love to try their stuff more consistently
13th colony rye is like 35 bucks. Anything at that price just buy the bottle. Probably not gonna see it in many Bars and if so it's gonna be 15 bucks for 1.5 oz
13th colony double oaked was never 65 it was 200. Someone said they got a single barrel pcik and that was 120. Wish they were 65. On 2ndary they are 400 plus.
Thats insane. I was going by its MSRP and what I got from the distillery. Maybe it was never available for MSRP
Either way. Definitely not worth 200
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary everyone is ranking it in their top ten their standard bourbon and rye is excellent. Interestimg that the distillery is sayimg 65 that means everyone is over charging for it.
I heard yesterday that it may not even be their own distillate. It's a rumor that I'd be interested in looking into
no rare breed???
Didn't review that this year
Was this a joke?
What do you mean? It's of the whiskies I personally reviewed this year.
