I am pretty sure I found one of his Beatles records at Electric Fetus In Minneapolis. Because it had his name written on it and it is pretty old and used.
John’s a phenomenally good singer. He makes it sound like he’s in the ballpark of the right notes, but if you focus in on his voice you can’t hear a hint of a wrong note.
Fascinating footage. Steve Jones more or less wrote the best album in history. Makes me think whether any other albums have been recorded this way with basically slight variations and overdubs on the one guitar part.
@Your Average Golfer 100% correct Matlock was the musician he taught Jones how to play testament to Jones aptitude for guitar playing that he picked it up so quickly and developed his unique style and sound.
When I first heard Elvis and Scotty Moore on guitar, I was blown away, years later Steve Jones did what Scotty Moore did to me, blew me away, this was ANARCHY in the UK.
The performance on this album was a breathtaking embodiment of sheer magic, weaving a tapestry of enchantment that captivated every soul who listened to it.
Best ever album ever made.First punk band.Nevermind The Bollocks completely shook the whole rock music scene, a new platform was formed with that band .The landscape of rock music was changed forever in the UK and really started off the Manchester music scene imparticular. No other album has excited me like that album did and The Sex Pistols only album will stand the test of time even after almost 50 years. To think it was almost never made because after being banned left right and centre from record companies because of obviously the expletives on the album cover aswell,Richard Branson of Virgin records signed them and he saved us all from absolute boredom.
There’s a lot of Hawkwind in the Sex Pistols sound. There’s more psychedelic biker trash there than pub rock. The Jam played really fast and choppy, like Dr. Feelgood. There’s a live album of Sham 69, with Jimmy Pursey with Steve and Paul. Steve could play plenty fast, but Paul pulls everything down to Hawkwind speed. He was a great drummer, but not a speed merchant.
I always when i used to play before i had to sell my les paul due to arthritis in my fret hand, try to get my guitar to sound like Steve Jones guitar sound
I was in college when Never Mind the Bullocks came out. I wasn’t a fan of Punk. I liked The Rolling Stones and AC/DC, but I loved this record. Went to see a couple of Punk bands and hated everything about it. The music sucked and I recall a bunch of spitting. To sum up, I hate punk rock, but love the Sex Pistols. I just consider this album rock and roll.
Punk was fantastic. If you thought the music sucked, you saw the wrong bands. X, The Clash, Social Distortion, Stiff Little Fingers, The Buzzcocks, The Dead Boys, The Heartbreakers (Johnny Thunders, not Tom Petty), The Ramones. I could go on but I think I’ve made my point.
The opening riff from "Holidays In the Sun" was "nicked" from a song rom The Jam called "In the City". Sid Vicious & Paul Weller had a scrap in the pub over it. Direct comparison of the two songs: czcams.com/video/VQBznorqclw/video.html
Great album. Unfortunately, the album volume is low and the high end is slightly muffled, not unlike Black Sabbath Paranoid. You really have to crank the volume.
The guitar sound was incredible and so was the drumming! Powerful! Johnny was No Crooner! There’s the understatement of the century! Johnny Rotten couldn’t sing period! Glen Matlock wrote all the Songs! Sid just looked good!
What a load of BS... Steve never recorded bass parts on Bollocks on guitar with octave divider.. and these guys shoulda know it would have sounded like utter crap.. it was a regular bass guitar, a P-bass would be my guess .. without Matlock´s beatles-ish overplaying.. but his Rick had a great sound anyway ;) listen to the Holidays demo
@@cejannuzi Didnt sound like that .. and even so, he never just once copied ONLY the root of guitar chords on Bollocks... just listen. Anyway, I just listened to 2002 (and many more) SP shows with Glen... he played exactly in the same vein as Steve did on Bollocks - no embellishments, just the meat.. and it was perfect
This album is pure explosion of energy.
“He was behind the curtain playing, thanks for that”
English sarcasm to boot.😎🏴☠️😎🏴☠️😎
Glen played some of the bass on "Anarchy" as that was largely pre-recorded whilst at EMI. But Steve Jones basically did everything, guitar-wise. CLASS
Fantastic. R.I.P Bill Price.

Butch vig made Kurt Cobain over dub the guitar parts to drain you about 7 times to get a really thick sound.

Insane genius. Insane musical brilliance.
The entire "Nevermind the Bollocks" album was beautifully mixed.
Johnny might do 2 takes and they'd be totally different, different notes, different phrasing, but they'd both sound right. A weird talent.
What an insight!! Many thanks Brother! 🤟🤟🤟
thanks for this

Terrific clip. 👏👏
If you think about Price recording, Steve Levine, Mick Jones and Mick Ralph's that says a lot of Jones ability too.

Apparently there was a conversation between Johnny Rotten and David Gilmour in 1979 when Lydon admitted that they didn’t really hate Pink Floyd. 😂😂😂
