How to first use your Philips Senseo® Original
Flushing the machine to fill the system
Remove the water reservoir.
Fill it with clean cold water up to the MAX indication and put it back onto the machine
Move the lever upwards to release the lid and open it.
Place a 1-cup or 2- cup pod holder in the machine without pods.
Close the lid and lock the lever.
Put a bowl (with a capacity of at least 1500ml) under the coffee spout to collect the water
Press the on/off button and subsequently press the 1-cup button and the 2-cup button briefly at the same time.
The system fills itself with water from the water reservoir. This takes some time (approx. 90 to
150 seconds). The machine switches off automatically when the flushing cycle ends.
Now your Philips Senseo® coffee machine is ready for use.
Brewing Senseo® coffee
Fill the water reservoir with clean cold water up to the MAX indication and put it back onto the machine.
Press the on/off button.
The indicator flashes while the water heats up. This takes approx. 90 seconds.
The machine is ready for use when the indicator light lights up continuously.
Move the lever upwards to release and open the lid.
Place the Senseo coffee pods properly in the center of the pod holder, with the convex side pointing downwards.
Place 1 Senseo coffee pod in the 1-cup pod holder to brew one cup of coffee
Place 2 Senseo coffee pods in the 2-cup pod holder to brew two cups of coffee
Close the lid and lock the lever
Place one or two cups under the spout openings.
Press the button that indicates the number of cups of Senseo coffee you want to brew.
Press one time for large mild coffee cup(s)
Press one time for large mild coffee cup(s)
Double tap for strong small coffee cup(s)
After use, lift the pod holder out of the machine and remove the coffee pods.
Cleaning the machine
Clean the outside of the machine with a moist cloth.
Remove the coffee spout
Clean:
the coffee spout
the pods holders
the drip tray
the cup tray
the water reservoir
In dishwasher or under the tap with dishwashing liquid
Clean the water distribution disc with a moist cloth.
Be sure the rubber sealing does not get stuck onder the edge of the water distribution disc, to prevent leaking.

I bought one today and I don't see what you are all complaining about, the machine works great and it makes good coffee. It's super simple to use, anyone with a brain cell could operate it. If you use it correctly, it will work correctly!
Got one of these and I have top say the coffee is fantastic, as good as barista coffee!

Can this machine use any other form of coffee if I don't have pods ??
Is there any reason why Philips makes the water containers so narrow that we can not clean them normally..... It's just unbelievable narrow and not reachable..... Please make a video about that small container....

I tried to flush my machine I just bought. I press the two buttons at the same time, and the calc light flashes but the machine does nothing! What can I do about this problem?

it is possible to regulate the quantity of water en each coffe? now i need to turn off the machine to stop it
Thanks for your message, David. The quantity of water is unfortunately regulated. If you would like to have your coffee stronger, you can press the button twice when making coffee. Or, if you feel the coffee is not strong enough or not warm enough, you can also try descaling the device. Of course you can also try a different kind of coffee pad. It seems the strong coffee option (pushing button two times) doesn't work for the single coffee button. When i push the button twice, machine switches off instead of giving strong coffee. Any idea why?

I just bought one of these machines, but it hasn't been that effective, since the coffee has been very smooth. I just saw this video about the 2x press for at strong cup, but I sadly don't taste any difference :(
Hugo Gerard Leferink Purchased online thru EBay. Watched video on CZcams. Coffee with two pods was weak and full of grounds and not hot. Very disappointed as I love the coffee flavor and will go back to my one cup coffee at a time Senseo coffee maker.

Be warned that the stronger and small cup option doesn't work at all. Many people I know who had the coffee machine having the same "problem"... But to be honnest... I start to think they know but they just say their machine has "more options" while they actually don't... Pls fix this problem?

Si vous voulez préparer une grande tasse de café normal ou serré, placez simplement deux dosettes de café (normal/serré) dans le porte-dosette double et appuyez sur le bouton pour 2 tasses.
Si le volume maximal de la tasse est atteint avant que la machine à café s'arrête automatiquement, appuyez simplement sur le bouton marche/arrêt pour interrompre le cycle de préparation.

Hi Lorraine, thanks for clarifying! That black piece inside of the water reservoir isn't a water filter. Thus, you'll have to descale the Senseo regularly (we recommend once every 3 months). If your machine is equipped with a CALC light, this will light up when it is time to descale your machine. Normally, this happens after you make 400 cups of coffee. On SENSEO Original Plus models, the 1-cup and 2-cup buttons flash simultaneously when the machine needs to be descaled. We hope this helps! Can I use it with milk?
Thanks for asking! You can add the milk after making the coffee. Alternatively, you could use the pads with milk for a cappuccino or a latte. ;)

I want to make it a bit stronger, and I even took 2 pads and pressed the button twice but really no difference.
Hello Eva, thank you for your message. Press the button once and make a standard-sized Senseo coffee. Press the button 2 times and you get a smaller, stronger cup of coffee. Hope this helps.

The pods are too hard and stiff to be able to fit two of them in the deep dish and ALSO too hard to use only one in the regular dish... So we just have to use one pod in the one that is meant for two cups... we only bought it because we could make two cups at a time but it wont let us since we can't close the lid with two pods in it...

Le macchine manuali che utilizzano le cialde sono compatibili con qualsiasi marchio di caffè, la cialda deve avere diametro 44mm ed essere di tipo ESE.
Se ti riferisci alle nostre machcine automatiche, non supportano l'utilizzo di caffè in cialde ma solo in chicchi o premacinato.

Hallo ,ik ben een gepensioneerd huisvrouw die met mijn man in een klein appartement woont waar ook een klein keukentje is dus ook een klein aanrechtje heeft .ik gebruik al jaren een (ronde)senseo voor de koffie maar het begint me nu te irriteren.dat ik altijd het apparaat naar voren moet schuiven om het reservoir af te nemen om het met water te kunnen vullen . Nu zag ik een nieuw model rechthoekig . Het leek mij wel wat , maar die moet je ook weer van achter vullen ,dus blijf ik aan het schuiven .erg jammer ik vraag mij dus af of dat niet anders kan ,een koffie zet apparaat hoef je toch ook niet te schuiven .om het water bij te vullen .hopende dat het volgende model een water resevoir heeft die je van boven kunt vullen

Hi there Michael, that really depends on your personal taste! :) The max capacity of the Senseo machine is two pods at a time. One pod would be enough for one coffee, but if you feel like it's missing taste you can definitely use two pods to brew yours and feel the caffeine kicking in! ;)

currently in serbia there is not a pads of any manufacturer in stores like dolce gusto and so, so we have to buy in germany i personally love senseo brazil and cappuccino but it would be good to have any appear in stores

okay so i read this in the manual and it didn't work. at all. it won't do anything. we have had the machine for months now due to being too busy to send it back and we live in a small town in the middle of nowhere in iceland so we're not very happy at all with our purchase. This was meant to make life EASIER for us. Instead we now have a big black machine taking up space in our tiny kitchen. Keep trying and trying to flush it and all that happens is it makes a noise and the light blinks forever. Nothing else. broken? or just a rubbish product.

@@Philips I have messaged philips care on twitter just now and am waiting for a response. I tried your website but apparently that doesn't work either. And yes adblocker was switched off. My problem is exactly as i stated. I did everything the manual told me to do, and it just makes a noise like it's trying to work, but does nothing else. No water comes out of it. The power button just blinks.

do not buy, compare to beems or standard capsules, tase and quality is horrible.
This is my second Keurig Coffee Brewer. czcams.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first one lasted 6 years. It worked beautifully until the day it didn't. It was hard to go back to the drip coffee for a couple of days while I waited on my Keurig to get here. There is a huge difference in the taste. Keurig makes a really good cup of coffee. This new one is a little different from my old one. I find putting the water filter in was easier than on the old one. Attaching the water reservoir was also a little different but once I figured it out, it too was easier. This new one has the auto off feature but is not programmable like the old one. Only three cup sizes instead of four. The odd thing for me was how much lighter in weight this one is compared to my old one. More plastic and much less metal in the construction of this one. The price is so much less than the original Keurig that I bought and the coffee tastes the same so all in all I am satisfied.
These are comments about a Senseo, not a Keurig.
