  • We have connected an Ingenico Lane 5000 to a SAM4s SAP-630R in this video; however the Lane 5000 will work with most SAM4s cash registers via a Datacap. In this video I have the device asking Debit or Credit but keep in mind you can change that. You can have the device never ask for Debit or you can have it steer the transaction to whatever the card is Credit or Debit. This device also supports EBT transactions, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and NFC cards. Of course some features are processor dependent of course.
In this example I have the pin pad connected to the SAM4s register with a Datacap IP Tran LT but it would work with a Datacap Tran Server as well with the addition of a PDC. If you would like more information about connecting your SAM4s system give us a call at 800-863-2274 or check us out at www.cashregisterguys.com

Hey, we have 6 different SPS-2000 terminals, and recently we changed two S-MODE options, being 'Save EFT Log to' from USB to None, and 'Save PAFB Log to' from USB to None, as it speeds up our credit card transactions drastically (from around 15 seconds to around 3). The problem is, the pos that we turned those options off on has been getting progressively slower with IRC speeds, up until a point where it says offline or completely freezes up the whole system, and we need to restart all of our terminals. My theory is that it's running out of memory and it's saving the EFT Log to it's internal memory. Is there a way to prevent this, other than turning off the saving to USB or SD card?

If you set the EFT Logs and PAPB Logs to None they don’t get written or stored anywhere. The register does not have enough memory to store those logs, hence the only options are to have them written to USB or SD.
Also note that the IRC has nothing to do with the writing of those log files, as they are written locally to the USB/SD storage (if enabled) and not transferred across the network.
I suspect there’s a network issue going on here which probably contributed to your long processing times and IRC issues.
You could try swapping terminals around and see if the problem follows the terminal or stays at the station to help narrow it down.

Cash Register Guys I personally have swapped around the registers, as well as changed which register has the DATATRAN and which ones keep Track 1 and Track 2 information. Register #4 is the one we do cards on, but Register #1 is the one that holds datatran. Whenever you run enough cards on #4, the speeds from other registers IRC’ing to it gets slower and slower, to the point where they can’t talk to it altogether, and then it says offline. Then it gets stuck on IRC to #1 for credit cards, then no other registers can connect to #4 or #1. All of these problems stop if we have the save EFT Logs set to USB. The problems persist even after replacing the #4, and replacing #1 too. We know it’s gonna freeze up soon when recalling an order, as it either comes up blank or with incorrect PLU’s. Again, same problem even after replacing the registers, changing check tracking registers, and replacing the network switch. Other than that, we love the system, just wish we could turn off that dang setting without causing issues

@@CashRegisterGuysNBS We've gotten to the point where every terminal has been swapped out at least once, and yet the problem still persists, we've turned back on the EFT Logs and PAPB Logs, and it still happens. We have two registers where credit cards can be swiped, on our main floor and on drive thru. It seems like each register freezes up like this every now and then when we're in a rush, and there's a lot of credit card transactions going through in a short period of time. the sps2000 version is v3.00g31, is there any known issues like this, or a more stable version? Thanks

The Vx520 isn’t supported by Datacap. The Vx805 is but they’re recommending Ingenico now with Sam4S

You can't interface the 520 but you could a VX-805 with a Datacap. I would not use a VX-805 these days because they are first gen tech and we are now on the second wave of devices like the Lane 3000 and 5000 among others.
