I cannot choreograph something; which demands loads of skin show… I prefer to stay away from it,” Maharajji said. Mohe Rang Do Laal is sung by Shreya Ghoshal with Pandit Birju Maharaj reciting the Kathak compositions in the song.
Like "Kaahe Chhed Chhed Mohe" in Devdas, "Mohe Rang Do Laal" is drawn from the extensive thumri treasures of Maharajji’s granduncle Bindadin Maharaj. The color red is depicted in many ways throughout the song. The Kathak maestro also went on to win a Filmfare Award for the beautiful choreography and powerful Kathak sequences in the film.
